Luckily, in regards to the Ultimate IP Car, since it's really expensive, we can eliminate some possibilities out of hand.

Like this one, sadly. I'd just love to see a Lego Technic version of the Sentinel 400 limo by Syd Mead:

But on the other hand, a 300 euro (or dollar?) batmobile means that we will pay like 100 for the license only, so a car worth of 200 wont be that impressive we might think it will be... maybe comparable to the Le Mans car in size and functions (+ rc ofc)

Posted

I won't pay €300,- for a TLG set.

That kind off money I'll only pay for a MOC.

Or it must be a very very cool giant set with at least six mayor PF rc functions.

It's not a lot... after few years it got 2-3 times higher value...

Max...

That assumption is going to bite people in the megablocks soon, the fact that early SW UCS sets suddenly became hugely collectible and valuable means people are stocking them up right now, i wouldnt be surprised if in four years time the second hand market will be saturated with UCS Slave Is and theyll sell below MSRP.

And on a personal note, i dont buy lego as an investment, its nice to know it keeps its value, so i can sell something once i grow tired of it, but buying a €300 set i dont feel excited about in the hopes itll become worth more isnt my style.

I also do not buy Lego as investment... everyone must decide if it is worth to buy a 300 € Lego Technic set or not... I'm curious what a car it will be...

Nah, as long as there's a bigger fool to buy them, because values always go up, right? Oh wait, http://www.economist.com/news/christmas-specials/21636506-how-childrens-hobby-turned-classic-financial-mania-baseball-card-bubble

On-topic, this is the best year for speculation in some time, it's nice to see AFOLs having a good time with their favourite activity. :classic:

Agree!....people a VERY aware now of profit and resale value in 5-6 years time etc.

But....ALOT of people are doing it, which means there is alot more stock available. Back in say 2007 when 8275 came out not many had the foresight to see Lego become as valuable as gold in years to come,

As such there isint as many BNIB sets available as there are for more current sets.

So folks may get saddled with sets they cant sell.....i also do not buy Lego as an investment, i dispise the practice!

Price gouging, taking advantage of people etc. On sunday i watched an ebay auction for a UCS 10179 Falcon...dozens of bidders, price constantly shooting up!

The bidding ended at 3,600 Euro.....madness!

Really good sets this year as well...especially the small ones and pullbacks. some sets have some excellent parts, brand new parts etc.

Investing in lego is now huge bubble that going to pop, lego isnt gold that still will have same value.Lego set is good to keep till there isnt remake or better set in same category.

Star wars is full of remastered sets, so Im aware that there will be new UCS millenium falcon that will instantly kill with power of atom bomb these second market prices for first version.

I think that technic world is full more of builders that have almost zero interest in hoarding sets to resale and rather are interested in complex building techniques so probably in next few years there will not be anybody interested in 300€ car set because is huge possibility that lego will came with better supercar set.

That 8275 was in the $150 range in Brickipedia on eBay and Amazon those go as high as $1,000, another personal favorite was the 8480 which I still have but was rebuilt to a small armored truck, the BNIB/NSIB I saw on eBay was almost $1,000 another guy was selling the same set along with the NASA Space Shuttles was asking for more and won't let go of the 8480 without the other space shuttles. Wouldn't spend that much for a set, at the end of the day it's still a toy only that some of us including me missed out the fun either because we didn't have the means to buy them at the time or was committed to something else.

I personally believe the Technic UCS Batmobile is just a hoax, Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice won't be out until May 2016, while Man of Steel was a good movie, we're not able to tell if the sequel will be and because of a new take on Batman, I'm pretty sure Lego will not invest on something that might be a commercial flop, and for crying out loud flick fire missiles on a Lego Technic set? You gotta be kidding me, take the work itself "Technic" which implies there's some sort of mechanism that makes it work, from it's humble beginnings as a studded set to the more aesthetic beams and panels it is right now I appreciated that Lego has always applied simple principles of how mechanical things move and hence you have sets like the 8480, 8275, 42009 (and it's predecessors), 8110 (which showed kids how portal axles work and endless attachment possibilities it has) just mention a few that is mechanical but is still recognizable as a Lego and a toy as a whole. To recreate the Batmobile into a Technic for me is total madness and you still have the 76023 UCS The Tumbler from 2014 so this is totally senseless, with the exception of the 9398 and 41999 (which are just jacked up RC trucks), a Technic Batmobile is total waste of time and while value might be there it might have no function at all aside from the usual differential, RC link and piston engine. You want a Technic that functions and enjoyable to play and look, gives you that hands on experience which I think is Lego is all about.

If this rumor about a 300 Euro Ultimate IP Car is correct, following the lines of the Holy Trinity of Hypercars is the proper direction or the upcoming 2017 Ford GT, Spectre recently came out so a Jaguar C-X75 Spectre might even be proper because these vehicles have all the qualifications of an ultimate sports car.

Ford is celebrating the GT's 50th anniversary of the 1966 Le Mans 1-2-3 finish beating Ferrari and if the Blue Oval guys have the balls for it, the GT is a possible candidate, and Lego just released a Lego version of the upcoming Batmobile for next year's DC Comics Universe line so there should be no Technic Batmobile.

Quite honestly, a technic RC Batmobile type vehicle actually makes perfect sense for this upcoming year. I can see numerous motorized gadgets and such popping out of it and changing it's appearance. The UCS Tumbler that was released was $200 and was out of stock a few times and it had zero playabilty as it was very fragile. This may not be the ultimate supercar that everyone is hoping for, but for a $300 set, it being Batman related is starting to make more sense justifying the high price tag. Having a technic RC car IMO would probably get boring for kids since it probably won't be very fast, but a motorized Batmobile with all kinds of features would be far more attractive even if it doesn't move very fast.

Just my opinion of course. :classic:

I highly doubt it, its just not Lego's style...The only technic licensed sets were some droids from 00's and even those were a bit of a flop IMO... I hope we get to see bigger, deeper rims and wheels along with new Remote system. After all PF is now 8 years old and I think its about time to upgrade from simple IR to RC, Bluetooth or such systems. Oh and lets not forget about smooth motor control, not just ON/OFF....

A Ford GT would be interesting, although i personally dont think it fits the Ultimate description exactly, as it is a GTE class entrant at Le-mans, it'll spend 24 hours getting lapped mercilessly by LMP1 and LMP2 cars, even if it ends up whipping the ferraris (and i dislike the rear of the car tbh, i cant not see one of those pigs from angry birds)

I don't see the Ford GT being the Ultimate supercar tbh, the lines of that car are IMO too complex to accurately model using standard technic pieces.

I'll be seriously happy if its a 4 door sedan instead of a supercar. Considering that TLG already has a licensing agreement with Mercedes Benz wouldn't there be a chance of it being something like an E-class? ( don't really know how these license things work though)

Or an Alfa Giulia QV! :moar:

Honestly, a S-class Cabrio would be better than an E. But I'm not too much of a Merc fan, so...

That's why I don't like speculations topics…..we all get anxious about what will come next!!!

Please we need heavy machinery…or a car/supercar is welcome as far as it's not a batmobile!

how to you get the lego smilieys?

The better way is to click on the smiley face in the tool bar at the top of the post writing window, next to the 'My Media'. When you click on it it opens a bar of smileys at the bottom of the box :classic:

Could the prerelease images that got shown a few pages back be put on the first post (unless they've been removed of course)? Because if you haven't been following this thread every day it's impossible to find them.

Thanks, I think I look pretty handsome there myself.

Oh man, an Alfa Giulia would honestly be amazing. I'm not a Merc fan either but it was an educated guess based on the info at hand.

Also good call on the cabrio. Would make sense since an "ultimate" set would have to have a few features that would make it stand out. Just a plain old car with a gearbox to open the doors and trunk won't do IMO.

I rather wait for official release of photos, there are some issues with these official pictures leaked premature.
