So did I read this thread correctly that the bigger Technic sets are for second half of 2016 only?

Yes, and a bit no.

There's always a 1H and 2H wave. The flagship is always in 2H, but this year it seems we have a flagship and an even bigger flagship (or special set), which is referred to as the UCS technic set.

However, in 1H there's always a bigger set too. In this case the helicopter (and airport rescue vehicle?!). That's why people sometimes refer to the biggest 1H set as the 1H flagship.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Jim for explaining. 2H flagship and UCS are definitely on my list. Heli and rescue vehicle won't probably make it to the shortlist unless they have some real cool mechanical features... I guess my wallet will be lucky (or I need to buy some more 2015 sets...).

Don't be so sure of that :wink:

(that's why you said probably)

Appreciate the hint. I do *need* a set for December  *does some further digging into that heli*

Actually... if that Lego Technic 42051 Airport Rescue Vehicle has some decent axles, diffs and suspension I might pick up a set too...Yep there goes the wallet.

Trango , so far no one has seen of Lego Technic 42051 Airport Rescue more then a picture long posts ago from the Catalogue ... both Jim and Pawel have not receive it for Review (if I am correctly) we do not know if Lego did not took it out for some reconstruction/reviesion ... or what

They probably did revision, you can found preliminary pictures on google images and it looks pretty dull it doesnt even has suspension. For me it huge letdown. But is listed on many sites and price is about 85€.

I have a feeling that LEGO will publish the official set images for the rest of the 1H 2016 Technic wave tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get our first proper look at the Heavy Lift Helicopter then ... and of course at the Race Kart. Very anxious about the Heavy Lift Helicopter.

If there is a BWE, you can work out the approximate size because it will use the clamshell buckets from the Arocs.

TLG won't introduce a new bucket part with that profile for 2015, and then use one of the older bucket parts for a similar role in 2016.

It gives the width at least. Other factors are the diameter of the wheel, how many buckets etc.

I highly doubt this. Those buckets are big Lego parts. On a real BWE these are relatively small, which would mean the model, to scale it with those buckets, is going to be HUGE.

They probably use motorbike rims for BWE wheel.Covered in chain links that hold buckets.

Sound silly, eh?

Agreed. I found one shot after image googling lego technic 42051 Airport Rescue Vehicle, and I agree, looks pretty dull, don't see any room for suspension or some clever axle action going on there. I do read 4 Wheel Steering but that alone won't cut it I'm afraid.

Just imagine if they do it right; all the tread pieces and buckets we would get. Not to mention all the beams and pins. This set could be 100,00 pieces. But we'all prob get like a 15 piece set

Eh, you might be right actually :classic: I haven't seen the Arocs bucket, I didn't know they were 7 studs wide

Perhaps it's scaled to the small 2015 mining hauler, with town buckets?

I highly doubt they gonna throw in around 20 buckets (which is what it will require) in one model. It would make more sense if the BWE is in a small scale and just has a gear as the bucket wheel, with the teeths representating the buckets - and there we have the 50 dollar set...

but i hope your right  for the rumored price of 220 it should be even bigger than the blue crawler crane.

JJ2 :) :) Great Model - BWE - he he

About buckets : do remember those :

the problem I foresee with that bucket is that it wouldn't create a rigid connection. And if the bucket were to touch the floor when spinning they'd just bend backwards.

Maybe its not bucket wheel excavator as we think, but some crazy RC vehicle that collect bricks  .
