Kman860 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I'd buy the dragster for those rear wheels. Not so keen on the colour scheme though. H I don't get the hate on new/different colours. OK, I get it's hard to MOC having only a couple pieces in that colour, but they will most likely have more later. Personally I love the medium azure, purple and orange colours. Quote

I think they might just dislike the specific color scheme of the set, not the part colors themselves. Personally, I kinda like it—it reminds me of Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie. I don't know if I'll get that one, though—of the currently revealed sets, the Go-Kart is the only one that really appeals greatly to me. I suppose that might change if the Drag Racer's functions end up being extremely impressive on video, since I have been won over based on functions alone in the past. Quote
Kman860 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Well I think lego knows I love any colour scheme that looks like 70's or 80's muscle cars. Quote
andrewganschow Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I've gotten to the point now that I'll buy a set for the parts in it, or what I could moc on it to make it more enjoyable. I bought 42008 a couple months ago after 42043 was released with the intention to make it fully pneumatic, and now it is. I'll most likely pick up the dragster for the assortmemt of panels, and the go kart for the 11*3 curved panels. Quote

Waterkamp Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) I'm really curious about 42051 as I'm really keen with that as a display model on my shelf. Based on past technic release does anyone remember if lego ever release the 1H set so late like in march / april ? I remember the lego 8070 release was also late, it was in march 2011 right ? CMIIW. Babaloveslego55 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Here is a quick 2-min video review of the Hydroplane Racer and the Getaway Racer. See if you can find my MAJOR mistake in the Getaway Racer video. That's not $190! Edited November 28, 2015 by Jim Removed video Quote

Jim Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Have we seen the stickers in the wheels before in previous sets? Yes we have. Not sure where though. I think I applied stickers to the same part which is used as wheel cap. But I doubt it was used as wheel cap in that particular set. Maybe in a Star Wars set?! Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The race truck had/has wheel stickers, and most of the old formula one sets... Quote
Technic Jim Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) You can also get a good idea of how the steering works by looking at that picture. It looks like it is done with technic pins on the steering shaft and the rack, similar to how it is done in 8256.It looks like there is a gearbox to make the fake engine move, if you look at this image, because of the inset in the bottom right. Talking of 8256, I think it would look great next to the new go-kart. Edited November 28, 2015 by Technic Jim Quote

About the gearbox, if they were using only 16t clutch gears then I would not have built it that way (with the two visible 16t regular gears located where they are). Try building a simple 2 speed gearbox with those gears and you might see what I mean. However, if there is a new size of clutch gear then that IS how I'de build it. Hmmmm. Quote

Cumulonimbus Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I'm going nuts here trying to figure out the mechanics of the go-cart I was thinking, could the kart have a hand brake action which locks the rear wheels? If two counterrotating gears are engaged within the 'gearbox', the rear wheels could lock up. I know that neither a gearbox or a handbrake are seen on a real kart, but if the designers have allowed themselves this artistic freedom, a handbrake could add more play value than a gearbox ... maybe. For a Toys R Us description leaked a month ago and the box, we know it's a gearbox. Quote
