December 2, 20168 yr So......has there been any news regarding the art book/the releases of art book art? It's been super quiet on that front for like a month and a half now.

It's been super quiet on that front for like a month and a half now. It can take a while for Lego to get prizes sent out. In this case especially, we don't know how far along the artbook was in production at the time it was announced. It could be a super last-minute thing that they need all the time they can get to put together. I'd give it another month or two before getting worried.
December 3, 20168 yr Oh ok I see. No worrying, I just remembered I hadn't yet seen any of those pics!
December 28, 20168 yr BZPower has posted the digital edition of the art book! Lots of stuff to love in there. It really makes me thankful for all the thought and hard work that went into these past two years of Bionicle. BZPower and BS01 have also both announced that they've received hard copies of the art book, but it's still up in the air how they'll be distributing them (raffles, contest prizes, or what-have-you).
December 28, 20168 yr Man looking at this art really shows how many cool concepts there were for this theme, that just ended up getting dropped. Ton's of awesome looking villains and locations that just never ended up getting used. This art work really makes G2 seem way more epic than it actually ended up being.
December 28, 20168 yr Good gravy, this art is phenomenal! Writing as I go through it: Love some of those creature designs. The Stone Snake Creature is an interesting thought, and I love how it combines with Pohatu. Those villains are rad. The Witch Doctor-y looking dude is aces. And I also love some of those Shadow Trap designs. My god, some of those MoUP concepts are ridiculously awesome. While completely impractical from a set-design perspective, the orbital ring one is my favorite. I've always loved the art style from the animations. Cool to see some more art from that style. Final thought: Some of these concepts are almost too good to go to waste. I doubt it'll ever happen, but part of me is hoping they'll recycle some of these designs for future constraction lines.
January 1, 20178 yr In terms of what we gain from these in the story. It seems like the intention was that they would remain in the main world for the first part of 2017, discovering the mask of Ultimate Power. Then the mask would somehow get to Makuta in the shadow realm, the Toa journeying into the realm to stop him. I'm unsure about potential constraction lines however; - The Witch Doctor styled Umarak may have actually led to the creation of Umarak given they started working on G2 from as early as 2012 and we dont have a precise timeline on when this art was made - In a similar sense the concept art for the beasts may have been done at the same times as the Hero Factory Invasion From Below sets - The Soul Grinder's design seems to have been recycled for the villains of the new wave of Ninjago, including a CCBS and System Mech - A few of the other designs are likely going to be re-used in the future also, for instance the upper leg pieces on the concept art of some of the sets appears to have been used on the CCBS Star Wars sets
January 1, 20178 yr The villain with the hood is fantastic, I love his design. Is the guy under Skull Grinder a cut Skull Villain?
January 1, 20178 yr Love pretty much everything from the art book - several images are now wallpapers on various devices. As for the creatures - man, all the stone creatures are better than Ketar. And the villains, especially the one with the big dream catcher, were amazing. I wish we got more things like these and not what we actually got.
