Bbrink1996 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Umarak's voice reminds me of Starscream for some reason. :p But all in all, I actually like the voices, Umarak is not what I expected but still sounds good to me. :) Quote
Dorek Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I think they could tone the voice modulator down a liiiittle bit, but I like it as a stylistic choice. Also, Ekimu doesn't seem to speak that way for some reason? I'm glad Makuta got a shoutout anyway, even if he won't be seen. Animation is still looking fiiiine. Voices are serviceable, Umarak and Ekimu seem to have the best ones. Quote
MrHerofan Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 The voices were pretty nice. The robot feel really gives a nice touch. The protectors, I assumed were organic, so Ekimu having a "normal" voice makes sense. The animation was alright, I'm still getting used to it though. This gave me an old school Bionicle feel, which I really liked. Quote
Kalhiki Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Mmmm... Not sure about the modulation... Just sounds off and is kinda distracting. Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I noticed why Umarak's voice sounds off to me. It sounds too... Forced? I guess. Maybe it's just I imagined him the quiet-stalking hunter type and I'm just disappointed, but whatever, maybe it'll grow on me. I can't tell if they have voice modulation or it's the video quality. Lewa's voice sounds younger, kind of rookie-ish to me. But Ekimu sounds sweet. Quote
Aethersprite Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 All the voices seem okay, except for Umarak. He sounds like G1 Megatron Quote
ToaDraco Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) The trailer looks good and I like the voice modulation. I agree it should have been tuned down a bit but it doesn't make them difficult to understand. I don't know how I feel about Umarak's voice. I expected something deeper and more brooding and barely speaking, almost Darth Maul-esque I guess. He sounds like Starscream and I think in time I'll be fine with it. He kinda reminds me of Nidihki a little bit. Edited February 20, 2016 by ToaDraco Quote
Aanchir Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 He kinda reminds me of Nidihki a little bit. Well, he is dark and he is a hunter! Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 THAT's why I felt that Umarak's voice was familiar... It is kinda like Nidhiki! Quote
Voxovan Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 All the voices seem okay, except for Umarak. He sounds like G1 Megatron He actually reminds me more of Starscream from the Unicron Trilogy... hope he won't END UP like Starscream tho... Quote
Shakar Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Umarak's voice sounds too high for me, I wanted to hear something deeper. Maybe the Italian dub will do something about that.. But I do like the other voices, I don't even mind the modulation, I'm glad they tried doing it for once. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Maybe because it sort of reminds me of Bill Cipher. I'm more amused than anything. "Oh, oh, Okoto! It it good to be back!" I like the voices a lot; particularly Ekimu's. Edited February 20, 2016 by Puffle Pal26 Quote
AyliffeMakit Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 The latest Club magazine is now up online, and there's a one-page BIONICLE comic in it. However, this time it's in a very familiar art style... The webisodes may not be totally dead yet, folks. Quote
Quisoves Pugnat Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) As if Tahu didn't have enough gold already. =P The dialogue, alas, is following the tradition of The Mask of Light, not Mata Nui Online Game. =P Still, it's cool to see more of this art style! Edited February 20, 2016 by Quisoves Pugnat Quote
Dorek Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 This makes up for those lazy box comics =P. I've always liked these one-offs, even if they don't offer much new. Quote
Kalta the Noble Mind Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 is it just me or does the tahu in the one-off sound more...teenaged than in the one minute animations? like spider man. Quote

BIONICLE: Journey to One Episode 1 Scene 1 Ekimu's Forge [FX: Birdsong] [Ekimu is shaping a mask on his anvil.] Tahu [Offscreen] Ekiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Quote
Bigger Fish Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Is that actually dialogue in the episode? Or is it a reference to something? Quote
Timeline15 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Is I just me, or do they still kinda sound like they're all voiced by the one guy. I don't think they actually are, but the three we've heard so far sound very similar (except they sound like obnoxious teenagers instead of an old English guy, which I do not consider an upgrade). The whole thing sort of feels like someone's youtube video. Similar voices with an overdone modulation on the voices. Dialogue like "the darkness is coming! you cannot stop it!" The art style is still fantastic, and Gali will probably actually be a woman this time, so that's good. I just hope they keep part-Australian part-Londoner Pohatu, since Tahu and lLewa sound nothing like their 2015 selves. Quote
Voxovan Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Is I just me, or do they still kinda sound like they're all voiced by the one guy. I hear people say that a lot, and I really don't know where this idea is coming from. Those are obviously different voices of different people. We've got a list of 9 <?> voice actors, why would they use one of them to voice multiple characters if they have enough people to do the job? Quote
Quisoves Pugnat Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Is that actually dialogue in the episode? Or is it a reference to something? That was supposed to be a reference to the opening scene of Mask of Light. =P Quote
Bigger Fish Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 That was supposed to be a reference to the opening scene of Mask of Light. =P Ok, good. I was worried there for a sec. Also, this should be the theme song: And this should be the credits theme: Quote
VBBN Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 "Darkness is rising Toa, you cannot stop it" Great threat there Umarak, I'll bet you were thinking of that one all night. I'm not sure if the voices are over modulated or if the audio quality of that trailer was complete garbage, because even the sound effects sound choppy to me. I don't mind the starscream esque voice of Umarak, since I presume he will have a deeper voice as the Destroyer, but Lewa's is horribad. Not as bad as Berix's voice, but certainly nothing great. Bigger Fish Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Bionicle site updated itself with some story info and Journey to One screenshots. Melum's adorable. http://www.lego.com/en-us/bionicle/explore/ekimus-mission/chapter1 Quote
ToaDraco Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The updated info and pictures was nice. Apparently the masks of Unity Ekimu crafted after the fall of Kulta guide them to the creatures' locations. There is also a new designer video for Onua, Lewa, Gali, and Umarak. According to the designer, Umarak has been under Makuta's employ for many years and Umarak's mask allows him to control shadows... G2 mask of shadows confirmed? Quote
