xboxtravis7992 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 That video with the kid... The designer gives the kid Umarak, and the kid promptly takes Umarak's sword; and stabs the designer. :D Quote
Kalta the Noble Mind Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 high res imagery! is it me or does it look like the models used for the series were made using a spline based CADD app like Rhino3d as opposed to more traditional polymodel apps like maya or Cinema4d? this may very well be a trick of the cel shaded rendering but the curves and edges look way too sharp and crisp to have ben box modeled or even "carved" in a sculp app like zbrush. too mathematically precise. i ask because if it is done in cadd does it mean it's lego's own source files? i know lego gave animal logic all of their cadd data to make accurate cg models and i recall hearing lego uses Maya as an in house LDD with their own digital bricks so could lego have like an animation kit that let the studios behind ninjago nexo knights and Journey to One literally build assets that are consistent with the toys? if i make sense. Aethersprite Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) The updated info and pictures was nice. Apparently the masks of Unity Ekimu crafted after the fall of Kulta guide them to the creatures' locations. There is also a new designer video for Onua, Lewa, Gali, and Umarak. According to the designer, Umarak has been under Makuta's employ for many years and Umarak's mask allows him to control shadows... G2 mask of shadows confirmed? I haven't yet seen the video, but it's nice to see confirmation that Umarak's mask has powers of some sort. It looks too awesome to be just another stand-in mask that does nothing. Dorek Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I was hoping for something a little more specific than just a vague shadow controlling power, but I guess it had to come into play somewhere. At least the Unity Masks make more sense in the grand scheme. Quote

Actually, thinking about the Unity masks - why would Ekimu need to craft the team new Unity masks if there are golden ones out there for them to find anyways? Quote
Voxovan Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Actually, thinking about the Unity masks - why would Ekimu need to craft the team new Unity masks if there are golden ones out there for them to find anyways? Unity Masks have spiritual links to Elemental Creatures, so I guess the Toa need them to find the Creatures and Golden Masks to unite with them. Quote

It could be that, as I hypothesized awhile ago, after their battle with Kulta, their masks were in fact destroyed...so Ekimu recreated them and modified them? As well as the golden masks. Quote

As well as the golden masks. No, the books and animations both confirm that he recreates the original Golden Masks of Power (and is the one who made them in the first place) after Kulta breaks them. As for the Unity Masks, what I'm getting is that they're sort of an imitation of the Golden Unity Masks. The Golden Unity Masks already exist, and exist for the purpose of uniting with the Creatures - who made the masks originally is probably the biggest question, since it might not actually be Ekimu or Makuta! At the start of 2016, it sounds like Ekimu then forges ordinary versions that have enough of a connection with the Creatures to show the Toa where they are; the regular Unity Masks are basically just glorified GPS's, which the Toa will abandon for the Golden versions. The books as in....the one book? Or does RotSS also detail the Toa getting the same masks back? If possible, could you quote the passages? I'm not entirely convinced....also the animations could've been like that so as not to leak the newer set designs. Quote

I mean, it's possible that JTO might show things slightly differently, but the animations were meant to be the story, so it's easy enough to take at face value. The passage itself is too long to quote, but the end of RotSS makes it clear that they are the same masks. If nothing else, it calls them all the "Golden Masks", vs the standard Unity masks that their Uniter forms will start out with. Quote
Kalta the Noble Mind Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 is it to early to speculate on what G2's story engine might be? Quote
Voxovan Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The poster for Journey to One is simply BEAUTIFUL Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The poster for Journey to One is simply BEAUTIFUL Agreed! And we have a launch date: March 4. Quote

Bigger Fish Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I really hope that the series ends with Ekimu and the Toa fighting against Umarak the Destroyer while Take On Me plays in the background. That would be beautifully 80's-tastic. Quote

Kalta the Noble Mind Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Never to early! Just hope it is not another giant robot... would agree with you there since it will be a needless rehash of a reveal which can never be topped. do hope the engine ties into their (bio?)mechanical nature like the great spirit robot had. but from what i have seen at least we're looking at a more fantastic universe with wizard magic and avatars of nature. also thinking about it now is the mask of ultimate power the story engine itself since that is the main thing that kicks off and drives the current plot? Bbrink1996 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The poster for Journey to One is simply BEAUTIFUL Aaaand that looks completely amazing! Too bad it has so much text on it otherwise it would have been my background right now. Quote

Huh, and here I am thinking the Title is a bit too small, but the Poster itself looks really nice! Edited February 25, 2016 by Dosenbrot Quote
Kalhiki Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I want a full size version of that poster to hang on my wall next to my other two posters. Seriously. That looks incredible. Quote
Bigger Fish Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 So apparently, JtO is a predominantly French production. I'm okay with that considering the surprisingly high quality of a lot of French children's cartoons. Quote

Aanchir Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Oh, dear.... That shouldn't be reason for worry. Canada makes a whole bunch of high-quality cartoons. Quote
