Soupperson1 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I wonder will the new skunk and minifigure baby mould be used in the Friends theme? Baby sitting is a traditional girl-ordinated subject and skunks would fit into the theme fine. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I doubt that particular baby piece will be used for Friends. The face is definitely more minifigure-styled (lacking a nose, for example), which would make it odd. Furthermore, the piece represents a traditional American Indian cradleboard--not many modern babies are found in such carriers. They may introduce a minidoll baby at some point, but it most likely won't be that piece. Similarly, the skunk piece doesn't look that much like a Friends piece. Animals in Friends tend to be more rounded, whereas other Lego animals are more angularly stylized. Quote
Soupperson1 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 There's an advertisement for a Ferris wheel in the supermarket! :O :D Quote

CM4Sci Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 There's an advertisement for a Ferris wheel in the supermarket! :O :D Probably the big set of summer because we're getting amusement park sets. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 What theme/set is this skunk and baby appearing in? Colectable minifigs. Really love the biggest set, it looks like a great partpack for...castle fans! Quote
Vorkosigan Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 There are some nice looking sets for 2016 with great part selections. My favorite is the Adventure Camp Treehouse: The rafting set is also a decent parts pack: Another standout is the pop star house. An interesting build, only thing that is perplexing to me is the huge windows in the bathroom: Honorable mention to Olivia's Exploration Car. I don't care for the car itself but the astronomy elements and the robot are all quite nice. It'd be great if they made a large observatory set. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Contrary to Vorkosigan, I'm all in for the Cupcake cafe and Supermarket sets, but I have to say also that this first wave of sets is amazing parts wise. There's lots of new recolours and interesting parts, such as the medium blue corner dome tops, cupcake stickers, watermelon, new cookies, sushi tiles, chocolate bars and a new type of 1×2 panel with sides in trans clear, violet laptop, a plant vine in green, a new printed wood pattern round tile, a tent, yellow bicycle, colorful party hats and more rabbits. lightningtiger Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I totally dig the supermarket design, dam I might just have to start collecting Friend's sets again ! It's realistic especially with the shopping trolley and it's bay. The cupcake shop has the cute factor going for it too. Quote
KlodsBrik Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) These sets are looking great. I have tons of Friends sets that i always buy for parts only. I love the diversity with colours and use them very often in MOC´s. This year is no different. I so have to get kind of a lot of these sets. Edited November 28, 2015 by KlodsBrik Quote
tafkatb Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) I'm a sucker for food parts, so I'll be all over that supermarket. There's even sushi! And a chocolate bar tile for the first time since 2004! Ooh, and I just noticed the Cupcake Café has the scroll corbel brick in white too. Edited November 28, 2015 by Tragic Banjo Quote
cebelicamya Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) I also love the supermarket design, the only thing I don't like is the lavender floor. Why? Edited November 28, 2015 by cebelicamya Quote
Soupperson1 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 In real life you're unlikely to find a pink or light yellow floor, I don't see any problem with a lavender one joining the group. I have so many tan, dark tan, white, pink, light yellow, green and bright green and azure baseplates (at least 3 of each) it's great to see new colours! We're spoiled this wave with lavender and dark purple, I can't wait! :D Quote
wooootles Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 It's becoming a pattern that the Friends sets are the best darned things a city-building AFOL can buy , even though the new CITY Police is some of the best of it's kind I've seen in a while. I still have the old Friends bakery waiting to be MOC'ed in somewhere else, and the cupcake shop will be the best addition to that! And what does it mean when a Friends house set looks better and more substantial than a current CREATOR house? Quote
Dorayaki Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Well, the Camp Tree House idea is actually pretty similiar with 31025 Mountain Hut, except that it's a regular set with a tree and much more details. Livi's house has very good tastes and does stand out from any other LEGO house. I might wish that this house could have less white and more magnta or black. As for the town shops, they do add varieties to LEGO streets, but kinda wish that they have a baseplate for the top roof instead of leaving them open. Quote

I still have the old Friends bakery waiting to be MOC'ed in somewhere else, and the cupcake shop will be the best addition to that! And what does it mean when a Friends house set looks better and more substantial than a current CREATOR house? Totally agreed. The Friends set designers are killing it. I've bought one new City set in the past three years. Friends is where it's at. I have a theory that being a set designer for Lego City is the worst job in the whole company. You're stuck making endless variations of the same three basic things because some genius in Product Marketing thinks that kids only want to be cops and firemen and construction workers. But meanwhile, your co-worker in the next cubicle over is on the Friends design team, making cupcake shops and horse stables and veterinarians and science labs and adventure camps and so on. That has to suck, right? Quote
Sven F Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The adventure camp set is great (minus the giant slide piece) I like the cake shop, not so much the supermarket (minimarket?), and the rock star house is just too much for my taste, I like that they use trans-clear pieces instead of ghastly tinted ones and a lot of brown, tan and white. If they made them even less pink, there would be that many more usable parts for town builders. Quote
OmShanti Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Love the adventure camp theme, definitely going to snatch that up next year. The Supermarket and Cupcake Cafe will be great to expand my Elves Bakery (yay for more lego food!). I adore the Olivia's Exploration Car set, love astronomy and her shirt is too cute. It's too bad they didn't try for more original names though. The elves line just released aira's creative workshop, now we're getting emma's creative workshop. Despite the lack of originality in naming, it would make a nice parts set I think. Quote
Sarah Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I really want Olivia's set. Yes, even the car. When I thought it was just a car I was enh. But with a new robot and telescope?! Yay! Quote
OmShanti Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 The robot in Olivia's set is too cute. My son said he looks like Wall-E. Quote
brickbuilder711 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I am impressed with the pop star house, and really dig the super market. The ice cream shop comes at a close third. Especially considering how you'll never find this much detail or awesomeness in a CITY set. Quote
Soupperson1 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 The robot in Olivia's set is too cute. My son said he looks like Wall-E. The robot's name is Zobo The ice cream shop comes at a close third. Especially considering how you'll never find this much detail or awesomeness in a CITY set. It's a cupcake café :P Quote
OmShanti Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Zobo is a cute name, I'll have to let my son know. The polybag that will be released in January is a cute little bridge with Olivia from the Adventure Camp series. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Thank you very much for all the information and pics! Imo the adventure camp sets do look ugly. In contrast the three buildings in the winter wave are terrific:  Supermarket - only one shopping cart - two seperate doors instead of a sliding door as entrance + great design + chocolate and sushi and a half melon + a lot of food Cupcake Café - only one couch with a small table as seats inside - baking oven without control panel - no second floor + brilliant ancient looking architecture + many cupcakes + nice coffee machine and kitchen machine + terrace is nice addition Popstar Villa - strange looking wall like stairs behind the pool - wall on the right side upstairs not completely closed - only one chair in the kitchen - too much dark pink and purple color + perfect price ratio performance + pool is great addition + amazing architecture + great interior + a lot of accessory Klaus-Dieter Edited December 13, 2015 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Lego_v194 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) I really want Olivia's set. Yes, even the car. When I thought it was just a car I was enh. But with a new robot and telescope?! Yay! The car really feels like a "throw in" once I focused more on how awesome the robot and telescope are....it made the "enh" feeling less enh Edit: upon inspecting the car more I notice that the front side has a logo of the astronomer...making it more part of the set, Edited December 15, 2015 by Lego_v194 Quote
