Lind Whisperer Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 and it seems there is a new giant egg piece to hide baby dragons in!Actually, no, it was just a re-use of one of the egg pieces from Galaxy Squad. I'm not sure if it was the tall one, or the short one, but it was definitely one of the two. Quote
DraikNova Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Good god, purple bat wings. Definitely not going to pick these up (I'd feel mildly embarrassed every time I saw that dragon head mold), but I'm definitely going to nab a few of the parts from Bricks & Pieces. Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 The eggs are new. They don't have the textured surface, and the shape is different. For what it's worth, I much preferred this year's sets. I think they went overboard with the dragons idea, and they're too cutesy for my tastes, although the colors and wings are lovely. I do like the look of that male water elf, though, and there seem to be some great parts. Quote
6ix Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 What is the piece that is used for the back of the seats in the Starlight Inn set? Quote

6ix Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 It's new, I think! ~Insectoid Aristocrat I thought so, but then again I'm not a pieces expert like some members on EB, who seem to know every piece off the top of their head ;-) Quote
Aanchir Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I thought so, but then again I'm not a pieces expert like some members on EB, who seem to know every piece off the top of their head ;-) I thought it was new at first too, but my brother pointed out it's actually two pieces. 11437+11090. Quote
6ix Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I thought it was new at first too, but my brother pointed out it's actually two pieces. 11437+11090. Right! I see it now. Thank you. Quote
Vorkosigan Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 The Starlight Inn looks good, not too much pink/purple except for the door which is easily swapped. I'm disappointed in the secret marketplace though. I was picturing something more like Diagon Alley but smaller. The green dragon in that set is the most appealing to me of the Elve's dragons. I expect final pictures will make these all look better. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) I thought so, but then again I'm not a pieces expert like some members on EB, who seem to know every piece off the top of their head ;-) Well it's blurry and small, but it looks like a brand new artsy motif piece! I thought it was new at first too, but my brother pointed out it's actually two pieces. 11437+11090. Oh, yeah, I thought it might have been that. I still think it might be new though. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited November 8, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Velouria Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Oh noes, I missed the pics! I'm always late for the party! I'll take your words for it if you say they are excellent! Quote
x105Black Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I saw these Bricks in Sets at another site, along with many more, in a nice convenient .pdf file. These look better than I was expecting, but still not as good as they could be. The dragons look very cutesy, but even if they weren't I wouldn't be impressed since they are brick-built. The color schemes look a bit less girly, which is nice, although they still have plenty of pink and lavender, and I don't see the purple leaves as much. I hope they're not going to do away with those leaves, as they were one of the best parts of the theme. Looks like the new hourglass is pretty cool, and we'll get that Elves fence piece in brown. Overall, though, it almost looks like this was made for a younger audience than the last 2 waves. They look more childish. And the consistent complaint about minidolls. Of course they're expected, but I still don't like them. Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I just noticed the hourglass, and they're not doing the piece any favors by not displaying it on a table. It looks too tall with the gold pieces, and incredibly awkward as it can only be held from the bottom. I don't see how else they'd do it, but it's not a good design. It's not even a stud-reversal piece! Quote
Iria Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I'm sure the official pictures will look better than these renders. I agree with this. I'm waiting for the official images to come out before I fully decide to buy any, because right now they don't look that impressive, which is disappointing. The dragons are just not for me. They really are grown up version of the baby dragons. I'm really liking the new characters though. I'll definitely pick up the blue haired male and green haired female elves. Overall I like the shape of the Secret Market, except for those large tan arches which make the build look fairly plain and too easy and quick to build. The Starlight Inn has a bit of a medieval forest feel to it, to me. I'm not sure what is going on at the Dragon School, but if that zipline is attached to a tree, then that might be the ugliest Lego tree I have ever seen. I would have loved if Lego had made at least one set of this wave more intricate to build (comparable to the Adventure Ship of the first wave). Quote
K4kitty Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 We'll get them all anyway, though it'll be good to see some official images. Quote
Dorayaki Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Definitely NOT a letdown. More medieval style buildings and more importantly, new adult dragons! It's wise for LEGO to pull out dragons that look less evil or more friendly from Castle sets and they look great for Castle MOC scenes. Can't wait to see more! Edited November 9, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote
DraikNova Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Really? The castle set dragons look cuter to me, to be honest. Quote

Can't wait to see more! I agree. I hope these dragons really appeal to the younger builders. It's rare that we see something traditionally ferocious marketed this way. Even if they don't personally appeal to me, I hope the Elves dragons and sets are successful, as I really want the Elves theme to continue. Hopefully the dragons will grow a bit on me, since the rest of the builds are nice. Quote
notpennysboat Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 The dragons (Fire and Water) looks friendly, it's nice to build them instead of a big piece for the body and other piece for arms and legs. I love the new chocolate bar and the egg in 41171 Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I'm mostly just glad that we're finally getting full-size dragon wings in new colors. Before, they've always been some mixture of black/dark red/red, or else they're from very expensive sets to acquire. Now we're getting all sorts of new colors at a very affordable price point. Quote
6ix Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I hope the Elves dragons and sets are successful, as I really want the Elves theme to continue. Well, part of me doesn't. I'm collecting these sets and the longer the line continues, the more I have to buy and spend :-p Quote

These actually seem to be a different piece than the traditional large dragon wing. The "membrane" of the large dragon wings from Vikings/Castle sticks inward towards the dragon's body past the Technic pin holes, and the wings of the blue and green dragons, at least, don't appear to have that extra inner bit of membrane. Not sure if they're the same size other than that change, though. Quote

The wings look close enough, I suppose, and I'm glad we have them in new colors. Quote
Kalhiki Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Oh my... I have very little interest in this line, but those dragons are adorable. I maaaaaaay pick up the blue one. The cuteness is drawing me in... Along with those wings. Very nice. Only glanced at the pics and didn't study them much, but they seem similar to the Vikings dragon wings, so that's cool. Quote
Iria Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hi everyone, I've created a new thread on the Elves episodes. Please check it out if you'd like to discuss the latest webisodes and any other media you learn about (books, apps, advertising etc) . You are also welcomed to speculate about future sets based on the details from the episodes in the new thread (Mods/admin want to keep media separated from the sets thread). Quote
