Lyichir Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 So I'm curious if anyone knows when Elves is to be released for 2016. Do we get a January release or are we waiting until March again? It's March in Germany, and I'm guessing it'll be the same worldwide. Which is kind of a shame, since the only reason we have those good Ninjago pics is because it's a March release in the U.S. but releases in January in Great Britain and I think the rest of the world. Iria Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) So I'm curious if anyone knows when Elves is to be released for 2016. Do we get a January release or are we waiting until March again? Unfortunately it is March again, according to the German version of the LEGO catalog. So that means we can likely expect the castle set by the end of summer. Also- On the shop at shop at home website (at least in Canada and I believe US) they have sets being released for Jan 01 available for viewing. New new elves items posted yet. You'd think with the popularity of the Elves so far we could start seeing new Elves sets a little faster. Edit- Darn, Lyichir beat my response by seconds! Edited December 22, 2015 by Iria Quote
Lyichir Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) You'd think with the popularity of the Elves so far we could start seeing new Elves sets a little faster. I don't think that's necessarily the case. It's most likely in Lego's best interest to not release ALL their themes at the same time. There's also probably a lot of overlap between fans of Elves and Friends, after all, and as such Lego probably benefits from spacing the release dates out. And we don't exactly have any indication that the March release hurt the sales of Elves—if it didn't, why mess with success? Edited December 22, 2015 by Lyichir Quote

And we don't exactly have any indication that the March release hurt the sales of Elves—if it didn't, why mess with success? That's certainly true regarding the overlap between Friends and Elves. Friends is getting a huge variety of sub theme sets released at the start of January. I certainly wouldn't want all sets released at once. Though it would be nice to have sets of a single more evenly spread out over the year. I feel the wait between August 2015 and March 2016 is a bit too long. I also doubt that the wait hurts Lego sales too severely, unless sets all end up out of stock/sold out before the next wave. This is starting to happen with half of the first wave sets (At least in the western hemisphere I am seeing several of the <$40 sets sold out at the online shop). Of course, the other side is that Lego probably like to have a large portion of earlier wave sets gone to gauge success before investing in too many waves. I guess it's also important that Lego has enough time to develop the new story lines and media for the next wave, which could be part of the reason for the longer wait. Oh well, I'm just excited we are getting an expansion of Elvendale buildings and hopefully a villain! Quote
OmShanti Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Bummer, I was hoping for an earlier release. You're probably right about the Friends/Elves overlap, makes sense if Lego spreads out the releases for that reason. I'm thrilled we're getting more buildings and new characters regardless of the release date. I'm still very curious who that villain is, eager to find out. Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 So I'm curious if anyone knows when Elves is to be released for 2016. Do we get a January release or are we waiting until March again? March for Elves and Speed Champs Quote
OmShanti Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 March for Elves and Speed Champs I figured they'd stick to March. Kind of a bummer but I guess it gives me time to save up for the entire collection. Quote
smittyfan Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Wow, those are looking awesome!! loving the unique hourglass, the shield designs, and more elf characters! Plus those crystal eggs are so neat! More of the magenta leaves, the new flower molds, and purple gems too, yay! can never have too many of those! The fact that the elves are also getting a new styling is a great idea, so it doesn't feel like they're always the same. That way it can feel like I have even more elves by mixing and matching their body parts around. Sounds weird when you say it like that, actually. I figured they'd stick to March. Kind of a bummer but I guess it gives me time to save up for the entire collection. lol. I'm still behind on the current Elf sets as it is. Thankfully managed to get all from the first wave except the Treetop Hideaway, which is still pictured in the catalog. Sadly some are getting discontinued already. So far Elves is one of the few series I think I can manage collecting every set from. I used to think Friends would be that way, but not anymore with the rate they are making 'em. Disney Princess and Elves are all I shall even attempt to keep collecting every set from. Quote

I didn't notice a new flower mold. It doesn't sound weird to mix and match body parts, it's pretty normal for a lot of people actually. The Treetop Hideaway is an excellent set, a must have. I want to get a second, maybe third Treetop Hideaway to expand my Lego Elvendale further. I was so excited for the release, I had saved money to complete the collection in a short time. I didn't know some sets were already being discontinued, which ones? I haven't managed to collect all of the Disney Princess sets I want yet, still working on that. Quote
legobear Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) All I can say is that I never thought I'd actually like the elves line until I saw the resemblance it had to night elves in world of war craft and not to mention all mmorph games from companies like Nexon - they look like anime characters. The settings in all of these sets is what classic castle fans wanted for ages - elves and forest themes. Die hard fans will mine the entire theme for colors and pieces but truly die hard fans will implement the mini dolls into the existing world as the Lego Movie does. This line has to be one of the most creative and beautiful to date when given a proper chance. I really do hope they continue with the Elves line and focus on the whimsical elements of it. I was a bit scared seeing all the dragons as I prefer for them focus on the colors and forest elements. Having said that, there's no doubt in my mind that all these dragons will draw the ninjago fans out and further integration will only help this line out. I have my fingers cross that Friends will continue to expand and elves will go with it. The designers of the elves theme really really need to be congratulated for what they've done with Lego. It would have been inconceivable for me to imagine a line so rich with elements and colors just a few years ago. It brought Lego up a few notches. Edited January 2, 2016 by legobear Quote

BTW, amazingbricks I would like to know when we can expect an update of the first post. These fantastic new sets deserve to have their pictures all in one spot so we can enjoy them. Quote
Fritzy Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 It would have been inconceivable for me to imagine a line so rich with elements and colors just a few years ago. It brought Lego up a few notches. I'm inclined to agree. I've only built one of the small sets so far, but I mean, compared with City's vanilla sets, these really are bold options. I'm particularly looking forward to the inn in the second wave. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 ^ What Legobear said. I just joined this forum a second ago, and I dunno if you already saw this or not, but I found good clear pics of the sets on a Polish Lego shop website. I couldn't download the pics but I made screenshots of the two sets I'm interested in buying, Here they are: http://imgur.com/a/80c3k I'll get the rest ASAP if they haven't appeared anywhere before. The shops website also includes the set descriptions, but they're in Polish, I could retranslate them back to English as best as I can but they changed some of the character names. The green dragon is named Thorne, the Fire dragon is Zonya and the water dragon is Merina. The dragon school teacher is called Tidus... Stormflight? The last name was translated into Polish so this is my guess. The innkeeper is called Sira, but again, they translated her last name. Could be Redtree, but the word used for red is also ginger/auburn. Quote
Fritzy Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Thanks for sharing, and welcome to EB! They're new to me. Uncovered pics so far have been of the boxes. Quote
OmShanti Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Thanks for the info FortNerd. Welcome to EB! legobear, my boyfriend said the same thing about the Lego Elves line and Night Elves from WoW. It's nice to see that Lego Elves is still gaining new fans. I too, very much enjoy the whimsical element of Lego Elves. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 You're welcome, and here's the rest of 'em! http://imgur.com/a/Nd197 I hope Lego makes a small affordable set with one of these hanging lamps from the marketplace. Maybe a magazine gift or a polybag? Water dragon baby will definitely be a polybag, he's in two sets so far but there's no egg. Oh and BTW, the evil looking thingy is a Shadow Fountain (Spring?) You can "purify" it so the dragon can drink and the color of the water changes from poisonous green to blue. Quote

I had wondered how/if the two halves of the Secret Marketplace were connected. Turns out they're separate but can sort of "nest" with each other, which is nice. Good to know more about that fountain/spring in the Fire Dragon set. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) I love that little evil dragon head over that pool of ambiguous green fluid. It's weirdly cute. And is that a dragon embryo in the school? Edited January 2, 2016 by DraikNova Quote
FortNerd Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 it's nice to finally see the sets from some other angles! Yeah, I've been waiting for that for ages. You can also download the catalog app and use the page scanning thingy to animate the sets. It probably works better if you have a paper copy of the catalog, though. I tried that trick on a page displayed on a computer screen and it shows a birds-eye view rather than a front view. They clearly meant for the phone/tablet to be held above a flat surface, rather than in front of one. Too bad no shops in my vicinity have the paper catalog yet. :) Quote
Aanchir Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 And is that a dragon embryo in the school? Are you referring perhaps to the hourglass? Yeah, I've been waiting for that for ages. Unfortunately, it still won't work for me, because I live in the U.S., and the 3D catalog app isn't available over here. But if somebody who can use it could take some screenshots of the sets using that app, it'd be much appreciated! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hmm, I think the Inn and the School are on my list. (Mainly for parts, but still...) Thanks for those pics. I will get to uploading and adding to the first post. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 http://imgur.com/64Mm7Lz Looks like Lego's been trolling us since July. :D This is from Skyra's castle. Quote
Iria Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) http://imgur.com/64Mm7Lz Looks like Lego's been trolling us since July. :D This is from Skyra's castle. Are you referring to the dragon? If so, I think you missed that there is a baby dragon in the Pegasus Sleigh set . I guess that may have been Lego's sneaky way of hinted to us of adult dragons though. We are still missing a bunch of dragons and dragon related items: Adult Dragons: Wind & Love Baby dragons: Earth & Love Dragon eggs: Earth, Love & Water That's a lot! Hopefully Lego will give us a complete set of all the elemental dragons in their various stages. And if they do, I wonder if that means we are getting an extra large number of sets for the summer wave or an extra wave late 2016/earlier 2017. Edited January 3, 2016 by Iria Quote
