OmShanti Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Not sure if this has been posted already, but my local Target had an Elves display with what appears to be a preview for the summer castle set... https://flic.kr/p/BVy6tX The top elements are definitely the Chima flame/Ninjago ghost dragon wing element, and it seems pretty consistent with the descriptions so far. It actually looks really nice from even just an outline preview and I'm interested in getting it. Oh wow, that looks amazing! Thanks for sharing! My target was clearing out their toy section, taking out old lego displays yesterday. So maybe they'll have this display up soon, I hope so. This years Elves sets are going to break my wallet. Quote

It differentiated the Elves from the standard Friends minidolls, and made them look more solemn and peaceful, rather than bubbly. Nothing wrong with the smiling look though, just preference.. Quote

I already knew it from the blurry images, but now it's confirmed: I absolutely need to get my hands on that book!!! Also, I believe that I haven't expressed my thoughts on this new wave yet, so here I go. I think that once again, the design team did a great job on these sets. Though I haven't bought any Elves sets up to now (somewhat limited budget), the Market Place and Starlight Inn are really tempting. The design, the pieces and even the dragons are eye-candy! Quote

I just like the idea of having options. In Ninjago, for instance, it's really rare to get alternate expressions for the main characters, even though there have been like twelve different versions of most of them. Plus, in the Elves story, some of the characters ARE pretty bubbly like Aira and Azari, so while it's nice to have a more neutral expression for each of them, it wouldn't be so nice to be limited to that sort of expression. Friends could benefit from a wider range of facial expressions for its characters too, but maybe the reason they have just stuck with "one face per character" is because the Friends characters' outfits change so much more from set to set (and even their hairstyles change occasionally when they wear, say, a riding helmet or visor). By contrast, even though all the Elves main characters are getting new outfits this year, they all still stick to the same hairstyle and the same signature style of skirt/trousers they had last year. Neon Green 1x1 pyramid piece on top of the Shadow Fountain for example. I really hope the castle follows the colour scheme of the fountain, it would look really cool! Quote

The innkeeper's name is Sira Copperbranch the Sky Captain, and the dragon trainer's name is Tidus Stormsurfer. Great names in general, certainly a far cry from "Johnny Baker"! Also, the Secret Market Place is literally run by animals, and the post owl's name is Owlyver! One thing that surprised me is that the contraption on the balcony of the Starlight Inn is a spyglass and not a periscope. I had assumed it would be a periscope like in 60048 since it connects to the inside of the inn, but it turns out that all it connects are is a ladder and key. A spyglass probably makes more sense for a business that isn't likely to be doing anything illicit, but it does make me wonder why it and the ladder have to be linked. I love the luggage rack underneath the bed! The moss beds in the Fire Dragon's Lava Cave are a nice feature too, and make it really feel like a proper campsite. I always love details like this that make a place (even a cave) feel livable. The art on the back of the boxes featuring the dragons in flight looks incredible! As always, getting new pics and descriptions makes me want to build some LEGO Elves MOCs! Quote

I'm sure all of the sisters dealt with Emily Senior's departure in their own way, and it wouldn't be surprising if one of them took a more villainous path. If that is the case, of course, it would probably mean this year's story would be resolved by redeeming her, which might frustrate some people who want Regana to be a more sinister villain and not merely misguided. No idea what the hourglass will be for, but it definitely looks to be an important piece for the story as it is shown in all the new artwork. Maybe it's used to subdue or defeat Regana somehow? Or maybe it ages the dragons from baby to adult so they can defeat Regana. (Okay, maybe that theory is a bit crazy). It would not surprise me at all if Regana were a one of the five sisters, and if she were redeemed by the end of the year. One of the major story themes so far in Elves is bringing people together, so I doubt they'll keep her as a continual antagonist. Even when redeemed, Skyra still has part of her cold personality, and it could end up being the same for Regana. If she's not redeemed, then what could be her villainous plot be after the dragons are saved? It's better if her story ends with the 2016 waves, so the Elves' adventures can continue in new territories. Quote
