wideawakewesley Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Here's a look at those Lego Elves sets from Nuremburg. The Dragon is cool, I think I prefer the Ninjago ones though: 41177 Precious Crystal Mine 41179 Queen Dragon’s Rescue 41178 Dragon Sanctuary 41180 Ragana’s Magic Shadow Castle Quote
Blue_Bird Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Everything looks fantastic, I definitely will be getting some of these sets! Quote
Wardancer Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) The dragons do not have teeth!! Edit: Ok, they have, in the upper jaw. Edited January 29, 2016 by Wardancer Quote
Aanchir Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I just got the LEGO Elves chapter book yesterday, and in it Sira Copperbranch the sky captain has an airship! I wonder if that will have any chance of appearing in a future wave or possibly as a store exclusive in the summer. Also, the adult Wind Dragon is named Gust and the Dragon Queen is named Elandra. The book doesn't mention any names for the baby dragons so I don't know what the baby earth dragon and water dragon will be called. I love the summer dragon designs. Gust's use of both the large and small wing pieces is very inspired, and Elandra is even bigger and more impressive than I'd imagined! It's neat how the elemental dragons all have transparent-colored spines and wings. Quote

It says so on the boxes, of which there is a photo ;) Quote

It says so on the boxes, of which there is a photo ;) Nice, thank you! I hadn't looked at the boxes in too much detail. has nice close-ups of the Elves characters in their new costumes starting at 0:51s! The hoods apparently have printing, and the capes are longer than last year's.It's still kind of peculiar to me that the patterns on the elves' shoulders have changed. I guess that confirms that they're body paint rather than tattoos. Even so I feel like I wouldn't have minded if they'd stayed the same shape or at least the same color. I guess making them metallic colors isn't bad, though. The witch (do we know if her name's spelled Regana or Ragana? I've seen both) looks really awesome, and is the first mini-doll with a truly evil-looking expression. Her cat is also very cute while still seeming evil and spooky. I'm still not sure about the green fox's significance, as it's not mentioned in the book while the other animals generally are. Edited January 29, 2016 by Aanchir Quote
8BrickMario Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Ragana looks really nice. She's younger than I thought, but I think that's a good thing, and her evil face is much appreciated. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Thanks! It's nice to get a closer look at Regana and some of the animals. (I'm still angry about Farran not getting a cloak and hood. >.<) Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I'm not a gigantic fan of Elves but that Dragon Sanctuary is really nice, as is Regana's castle. Regana looks cool too. Quote
OmShanti Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Regana/Ragana (not sure which spelling is correct) looks great. I'm glad she doesn't have horns (as originally speculated), she looks cool with the dark crown. I'm really liking these new sets. The evil cat is too cute. Looks like it's going to be an awesome year for Lego. Quote

Iria Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Ooh, there's a grey unicorn horn inside of the mine to represent a stalagmite. I love that!! Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 The big white and yellow dragon is probably the best looking dragon Lego has ever made. I've said before that I really have no interest in the Elves theme as a whole, but damn. That thing is a beauty. Looks very solid and cohesive. I'll probably end up getting it. I'll be kicking myself if I don't. Quote
Lyichir Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Ooh, there's a grey unicorn horn inside of the mine to represent a stalagmite. I love that!! I think those unicorn horns are actually silver, which is not new—but still nice. The same technique is used for stalagmites in the Queen Dragon set and the Shadow Castle. Quote

I'll be kicking myself if I don't. I agree, if we talk about brickbuilt dragons. I like them much better than all the ninjago ones. The white one is only a little girly, but there are techniques to erase print. Maybe the ornaments around the eyes could be reduced a little. I am soo tempted to buy the Dragon and the indominus rex and combine them. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I am tempted to buy it too, and I'm a newb with no prior history of buying expensive toys... kids' toys. There is a possibility I'll buy the Queen set, keep the dragon and sell the rest of it. Quote
Wardancer Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I think this is the best way. I have done it with other sets. The figs are easy to sell off, buildings a bit difficult. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Someone might want to buy Ragana's castle and use that fragment to complete it, though? Quote
Lyichir Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Someone might want to buy Ragana's castle and use that fragment to complete it, though? Maybe... but who would want to buy the rest of that set and NOT have the dragon to go with it? Maybe only someone who already had one of that dragon set and still wanted to expand the castle further... and even then, they might rather buy the parts individually than buy an entire complete section of a set. Quote
Wardancer Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I had the same situation with The Lonely Mountain set. The dragon I kept. The figs I sold quickly, there are alwAys people interested. The building no one bought, because of what Lyichir mentioned. However, the Elves buildings are very Special in their parts assortment, if you go low with the price chances are good to sell it. But in the end you might only save 10 Euro in comparison to just buying the white Dragon only on Bricklink or Ebay... If you are really patient wait for the set to go on sale. Quote
FortNerd Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I'll probably be scouting eBay or bricklink for it, then. It's not as fun as getting to personally buy and open the box, but if I do break one day and splurge on a bigger set, it's probably more likely to be something druidic or earthy looking. :D Quote
Hoth Rebel Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 How do you guys feel about the 'minifigures'? I guess this has been discussed before, but I really like the builds/looks of this theme except for those minifigs. It kinda feels like buying a set without the figures because, in my opinion, they are useless. Quote
Wardancer Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Do we already know the price of the white dragon set? Quote
FortNerd Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) 41177 Precious Crystal Mine – £24.99 41179 Queen Dragon’s Rescue – £59.99 41178 Dragon Sanctuary – £34.99 41180 Ragana’s Magic Shadow Castle Edited January 31, 2016 by FortNerd Quote

It kinda feels like buying a set without the figures because, in my opinion, they are useless. Mini-dolls may not be your cup of tea, but they definitely have some advantages over traditional figs, and the Elves figures highlight them about as well as any. They're gorgeously detailed, with highly detailed skirts and printing like detailed eyes, dresses and shoes the likes of which you just can't get on regular figs. They're not quite as posable as minifigures, but on the other hand, they're also more realistically proportioned and compact than traditional figs, allowing for things like a Pegasus Sleigh that seats four figures without being excessively sized. And they pair well with the unique and colorful animal life in the sets. I'm sure if you wanted to to get the sets and didn't care for the figures, you could find someone on a site like this who would be happy to take them off your hands. P.S.: I just noticed when putting that smiley at the end of my post that Eurobricks could probably use a set of Friends or Elves smileys. Probably never gonna happen, though. Quote
