It's too bad that the airship isn't featured as a set, since it's part of the main story. The Dragon Sanctuary (like Lyichir said) isn't even visited by the main characters, only referred to. So it's strange that it is featured as a set.

What's your hunch about the airship and hooded farran, fortnerd?

Ha! The pink dragon has white wings underneath his pink wings. These can ne used to give the white dragon decent solid wings.

What's wrong with the dragon queen's current wings? :sceptic: They might not match the other dragons' wings flawlessly, but I think they still look plenty solid and complete.

Also, the white wings on the wind dragon are WAY too small for use on the dragon queen. They're the new, smaller type of wing used for the water and earth dragons, not the bigger type used for the fire dragon or fantasy era LEGO Castle dragons. The dragon queen is the biggest dragon of them all, so it makes no sense to give it the smallest wings.

I dunno about that... Firstly, I'm not even sure they're solid white. Based on some pictures they seem like they might be Aqua (matching the Earth and Wind Dragons' jaws) or perhaps White blended with Aqua. And Aqua is not used anywhere on the Queen Dragon, from the looks of it. Secondly, I think they're the new, smaller variety of wing used on the Earth and Water Dragons, rather than the larger variety from older dragons that is also used on the Fire Dragon. That size difference could make them look weird on the Queen Dragon considering that it is the largest of the dragons, and even has a larger head than the others to match.

Oh a smaller wing mould? That is sad. I was wondering about that, but thought it was the old mould. How about the green one, do you guys think this is also the small new wing? I wanted to attach these to an old armored dark green dragon and paint the rest of the body light green.

I have nothing against the white dragon's wings, I would only prefer solid ones in a classic castle setting.

Oh well, new plans then. There are some yellow and silver wings from old Fantasy castle sets, maybe these will work.

The green wing looks to be the same size as the white one,

Edit: Here's a pic that captures both wing colours.

Yep. The green Earth Dragon wings, the white Wind Dragon wings, and the blue and purple Water Dragon wings are the new, smaller style. The orange and pink Fire Dragon wings and the purple Wind Dragon wings are the older, larger style. And the Dragon Queen's brick-built wings with a separate plastic sheet for the membrane are the largest of all.

The smaller style might still work OK on the fantasy era Castle dragons, even though it's considerably smaller than the style they used. Hard to tell until I have them in hand. But it certainly wouldn't work on the white Dragon Queen without pretty much a complete re-design to make the dragon's legs and body smaller.

Just noticed that apparently nobody here mentioned 30375 Sira's Adventurous Airship being revealed. It's an OK polybag with some creative techniques, but I wish it had some sort of controls. Interesting that it's the same "7–12" age range as the other small and mid-size Elves sets, since many polybag sets have lower age recommendations than the rest of the theme they're attached to.

Her airship in the animated "

" video is more impressive, with a ship's wheel, a more curved cockpit, and space for more cargo. But that'd probably be too big for a polybag set. It'll be interesting to see if anybody can MOC a more "show-accurate" version of her airship. Alternatively, maybe she might get a bigger and more impressive airship in a future year.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't mean to double-post. I didn't realize my comment was still the last post here.

Could be because it's a "Glider" and not a 'ship'

It would be nice if her Airship is a future set!

Someone did notice the polybag a couple posts ago. Personally I'm quite happy I can get the Sira minidoll cheaply. By the way - what's the deal with her being apparently an Earth elf and an Air elf at the same time? How does that work? Did she have a freak accident as a child and fell into a sparkly pool of Air magic or something?

I'm so bored... New York toy fair can't come soon enough.

She's not an air elf. She's 100% an Earth Elf, but loves flying. From all indications, her airship is mechanical rather than relying on her own magic (the book doesn't go into much detail about her airship but does say that it makes engine sounds).

OK, but then... she has purple streaks in her hair, her minidoll outfit has both symbols joined together, and if I'm not mistaken, in the video she is shown using magic to move the glider. I figured she's some sort of Dual-Elf :D

http://brickset.com/...r-press-release

This press release mentions ten new Elves sets... so, no airship :(

(my wallet is relieved to hear this, tho.)

Not too surprising. Considering we'd seen all the other normal sets, the only way we'd be getting a larger airship would be as a store exclusive. I suppose there's always next year!

I'm still upset that Farran doesn't seem to get a hood in the summer wave, especially considering the most recent trailer for the TV special shows him in the same hood and cloak as the other Elves.

But otherwise these sets look great.

I recently realized that I could potentially skip the Elvendale School of Dragons set, considering that Fledge, Tidus, and the hourglass piece all come in other sets. We'll see though—it's a small set, and I haven't missed any other Elves sets so far, so I might just end up getting it for the heck of it.

I love Lego Elves.

What disappoints me is that the men have the same haircuts.

If you look at the logo on her skirt top .

She has 2 logos. Earfh Elf and air Elf logo together.

I think she's 50/50%

In last year's Elves sets, each of the girls got a cape, but Farran did not. So I figured he would get one this year, but still nothing. I wonder why Lego does that.

Well, in last year's case, the obvious reason was that he wasn't included in the small summer wave of sets at all, so there was really no set to include a cape in in the first place. This year, though, he appears in the mine set, so there's less of an excuse. Maybe they thought the mine wasn't a big enough set to merit unique variants of the figs? Or maybe he's just less popular than the other female elves? Either way it's a huge bummer.

And now I want Lego to create a male character with the magical flowing hair syndrome.

EDIT: Video footage from New York. Shows Ragana's castle from the back! The white hatchling's egg is GLITTERY!

Thanks for your videos.

Ragana's castle looks fantastic !

I think that create male characters with different haircuts would be a good start.

I think that create male characters with different haircuts would be a good start.

Well, so far, I think the biggest issue is that only the main protagonists and antagonists have unique hairstyles. I imagine we'll see the other elves' hair reused frequently as well if LEGO continues to introduce new supporting characters — but female supporting characters will continue to have three or so elf hairstyles to choose from, and male supporting characters will still have just one. Unless LEGO starts using the hairstyles of the female main characters on male supporting characters (which I kind of doubt they'd do), or starts borrowing hairstyles from other themes like The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings.

What surprises me more, honestly, is how little the male elf hairstyle from the sets actually resembles any of the male characters' hairstyles from the webisodes and other character art. You'd think they'd have modeled the animated versions of the characters' hair more closely on the sets, but as it is the male characters in the sets have their hair spiked and none of their animated counterparts really do.
