telaruhn Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I have been interested in the Elves theme for quite a while now but haven't invested in it yet. If you guys could only get ONE Elves set, which one would it be? Is there a standout one? I want to see whether it's for me or not and i am having a hard time deciding... I think it will depend on what you're looking for. Are you looking for interesting parts? Or would you rather have a set that you could keep together? Do you want a dragon? And how much are you willing to spend? If you're willing to spend over 50 dollars, I would suggest the Secret Marketplace. It showcases the style of both the Elves buildings as well as the dragons, and will probably give you the best idea as to whether or not you should get more sets. I haven't gotten it yet, but it's my favorite set from the most recently released waves. I do have the Dragon School and the Starlight Inn, which are both more cheap alternatives, but I don't really like them for what they are. They do have nice piece assortments, however, and that is why I got them. In contrast, I like the Marketplace for what it is and I don't intend to dismantle it entirely, but rather MOD it to my liking. I hope this helps! Quote
Brickity Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) This theme would've been PERFECT as a regular one with system minifigs and a more gender neutral color scheme. But oh well... EDIT: OMG finally a knight after 5 years Edited June 17, 2016 by Otherworld Quote

rodiziorobs Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 If you want a cheaper alternative, the Starlight Inn is quite charming. That's what got me hooked. Quote

Sarah Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 A knight? Did I miss something? He was referring to his forum title. I love the Elves color scheme. I have discovered I do not have a big preference minidoll or minifigure. I buy some sets of each. But I do love what they have done with the Elves -- particularly regarding the shades of color in their hair. I wish I could use minidolls as moms and dads and minifigures as little kids for family play. But the proportions do not work. Quote
telaruhn Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) What are your thoughts about the dragons? For those of you who’ve purchased the sets with dragons, what do you think of them? Do you plan on trying to get all of them, or would you rather avoid them altogether? Do you like/hate them as much as you thought you would? Which is your favourite so far? If you have any of the dragons, especially the new ones, let us know what you think. I just bought the Secret Market Place and Fire Dragon's Lava Cave, so I currently have Thorne and Zonya for dragons. Overall, I appreciate the use of the Mixel joints and that the joints connecting the legs to the body are concealed rather well. The only downside is that there is less range of motion in the joints due to the added brick bulk. I'm not sure if there's a happy medium there, but both Zonya and Thorne can be placed in plenty of poses, and it not too big a concern for me. I'm glad the seats on the dragons can be used for minifigures, as I prefer them over minidolls. Out of the two I have, I really like Zonya's proportions, to the point where I really think all the dragons should have had this larger shape to them. It really benefits her posability and overall proportions with her head (since they all appear to use the same head). In addition, she has a bendable tail while Thorne's doesn't bend at all! Suprisingly, I also like Zonya's color scheme. The combination of Bright Yellowish Orange and Magenta work suprisingly well for the fire element, despite possessing no regular Red or Orange that normally indicates that element. My only other criticism really goes beyond this theme, but I wish there were more male dragons than just Spark and Thorne. But gender imbalance is present in nearly all original LEGO themes, so it's something I'll just have to accept. I just wish it wasn't so obvious that characters like Farran are so "token," for lack of a better term... Edited June 20, 2016 by telaruhn Quote
LegoRomania Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Hey,i was thinking about future Elves waves. What would be,if we get giants in the next waves? I think will be awesome if will happen. Quote
x105Black Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 This theme would've been PERFECT as a regular one with system minifigs and a more gender neutral color scheme. But oh well... I agree on the minifigures, but there are a lot of things I like about the color scheme. Maybe it goes a little too far into the hot pink range at times, but the purples and blues are great, and the color scheme as a whole works well together. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I think the color scheme is integral to the fantastical mood, really. More natural earth tones may be pretty, but how's that different from a real forest? Quote
Exetrius Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Hey,i was thinking about future Elves waves. What would be,if we get giants in the next waves? I think will be awesome if will happen. Giants? That's certainly an original idea! We've had bigfigs many times, but real human-like, friendly giants have never appeared (not counting larger scale figures from Technic, Scala and Galidor). With specialized parts for the body with a lot of connection points, it would be a larger version of the bigfig but with improved customization and articulation. I imagine characters like a musician (male) with brick-built instrument, a librarian (female) with a big book, the King of the Giants with a throne room, a warrior (male) with a big hammer and the child giant (female) around which the plot revolves. Sounds totally believable to me! Quote
Marishka Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I don't know what may be better than dragons(I'm fan of dragons!) , but I sure that Lego designers will make something awesome next year! Giants are big creatures as dragons, idea a little similar, may be there will appear some little folks like hobbits or gnomes, or faires? Quote

I would not be surprised to see mermaids at some point (considering the first Elves episode mentioned them, there is already a minidoll-compatible mermaid tail piece thanks to the Disney Princess theme, and the Izdur Ocean remains one of the least explored areas of Elvendale that has been revealed up to this point (along with the Desertlands and Forest of Deep Secrets). Lordofdragonss Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I also think we will see mermaids now, but I would love to see some bigger animals (guardians/statues?) and Ragana evil bone dragon as well! Quote
FortNerd Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I also think we will see mermaids now, but I would love to see some bigger animals (guardians/statues?) and Ragana evil bone dragon as well! If we get an underwater-themed wave (and a corresponding castle) then Sira's Airship Airship AIRSHIP!!!! is unlikely to make an appearance :( But we arguably already had an Air themed castle, so Earth maybe? (fingers crossed) Quote

(fingers crossed) Frankly an airship would probably work just fine in either an ocean-based OR desert-based environment. That's the nice thing about airships—they can travel just about anywhere. I would also love to see an evil dragon (which would be a great opportunity to get another dragon at a similar size to the Queen Dragon), but I'd also like to see more of the original Five Sisters revealed at some point. Quote
Iria Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 New environments would be great. Ocean/underwater with mermaids would be easy to do and fitting to the theme. I'd love to see a desert-themed elves set too. We could still see an airship if the Elves visited a sky/cloud based land. We could easily get a variety of landscapes in a wave since the Elves are adventurers. Quote
Marishka Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 (edited) Ocean would be great theme! It's like aquanauts that was my favorite theme in childhood, but in fantasy setting, it's double hit! And also some merfolk characters. So, the same way there might be parallels with other popular Lego themes - what about star elves? :) Crystal castles on the moon and space unicorns?, ? :D Edited July 2, 2016 by Marishka Quote
Exetrius Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Oh man, you all have such great ideas: desert elves, ocean elves, star elves... Quote
LegoRomania Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Wow,great ideas, now i want next:angels, mermaids, giants, trolls, tree people, space elves-what about astro elves? The all ideas sound to me like Star vs the forces of evil that's on Disney XD. Quote

Lordofdragonss Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 SPACE DRAGONS? Og how about a creature that is combined of main elements? A guardian of some sorts. Quote

And also some merfolk characters. Those are great ideas! I'd probably get multiples of merfolk set, if they make any. So, the same way there might be parallels with other popular Lego themes - what about star elves? :) That'd be interesting. I remember that Sensei Wu of Ninjago had mentioned there are several different worlds like theirs, all in different dimensions but also connected to each other. We also saw a Chima character in one of the introduction videos of Nexo Knights. So, if those realms are also connected with each other, we might see ninja elves next! Crystal castles on the moon and space unicorns?, ? :D Or if they insist on keeping the theme out of space, it can easily be FLOATING crystal castles! That'd be awesome! Quote
