strangely Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 It would be, but I think they bent the rules for Frozen only because Anna and Elsa are indeed going to be the next two official DPs anyway, and because the movie is so popular and successful that they don't want to wait around for the formal coronation(s) to begin making money on it in the DP line, lest they leave money on the table. I don't think either of those considerations is in play for Alice in Wonderland. I don't know if I want to call it bending the rules at this point. We're getting two characters who are not official princesses (Elsa shouldn't be a princess anyway because she's a queen) and the rest of the sets don't feature princesses either, just their garish pets. I know that these things fit into Disney's marketing scheme for the princesses, but this is beginning to feel ridiculous that the only thing not included in these princess sets is the official Disney princesses. Honestly before too long I expect they'll either change the name of this line or add another Disney whatever theme. At this rate Disney would be smart to start planning a queen line as they have a fair number of they're popular characters becoming queens. Cinderella and Aurora became queens in their respective remakes and of course there's always Elsa. Plus I suspect Alice will become a queen in this next movie as that's what happens in the book. 8BrickMario Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Seeing that the new film is taking even less from the source material than the first, don't count on it. Since these are technically sequels to the original, they're rather different, and the chess motifs aren't really there. Quote

Since these are technically sequels to the original, they're rather different, and the chess motifs aren't really there. I just don't think Disney will pass up a chance to make Alice royalty of some kind. And the chess motif is there, they show Alice on the chess board in the trailer and the Red Queen and White Queen are still present, so there's a decent chance they'll keep the Queen Alice segment of the story. I could totally see them fitting it into their revamp of the book. And I will say while both are sequels they're not really sequels to the books themselves as even Alice's flashback doesn't match the continuity of the book (To say nothing of Underland itself). So more or less these movies are sequels to a version of the books that don't exist. Quote
Roebuck Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Gah, why can't TLG release the Frozen sets here in the UK in time for Xmas? :( I wish lego would hurry up and release these frozen sets in europe. Its getting frustrating now. I saw Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure in toys r us in Norway yesterday, so odd if other countries in Europe do not have them as well! Happy reindeer hunting Quote

I don't really watch tv or deal with social media, so I guess I'm a bit behind the times. I was referring to classic Alice in Wonderland, because I love the original story. Quote
strangely Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 The Frozen sets are in stock at my local Target, but I think I'll wait for a sale, they're maybe just a bit too expensive for me. Quote

I don't think either of those considerations is in play for Alice in Wonderland. Kinda yes. Some fanbase kinda forgot the main purpose for DP: it's about readvertising the classic Disney heroines with a collective brand. Frozen is still too new to be in this brand. But just within the LEGO topic,: 1) I believe that Frozen is strong enough to have own product line, and that DP logo actually looks unnecessary. Hopefully its sequel could bring a more formal lineup. 2) as you say, if including Frozen means this line could allow some other different Disney themes girls like, maybe Alice can be a good addition. I don't know if I want to call it bending the rules at this point. We're getting two characters who are not official princesses (Elsa shouldn't be a princess anyway because she's a queen) Well more princess's are gonna be queens one day. Just don't forget about Mulan. I didn't even know there was a new Alice film. I don't really watch tv or deal with social media, so I guess I'm a bit behind the times. I was referring to classic Alice in Wonderland, because I love the original story. Let's forget Cinderella and Maleficent, since this Alice version is more basd on its own worldview, it better be an inpendent franchise from the classic animation. Soupperson1 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Since Elves is getting a villain in the summer I wonder will we get a Disney Princess villain? Quote
notpennysboat Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Now I see the new crown mold is on Elsa and in Palace Pets, I still wonder why we don't have that new great crown on the queen in Séries 15? Maybe a Disney exclusivity for a little while ? Edited January 6, 2016 by notpennysboat Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) I'm not holding out for anyone under the DP brand. LEGO might not make minifigures of them, because providing another, much cheaper (albeit different) way to get a LEGO Disney Princess might damage the sets' sales. Uhmm kinda not sure what it could be. Juniors could have been a chance since the previous pink suitcases only had minifigures, but now since LEGO decide to go with minidolls in Junior line, that's their decision. Likewise, CMF series doesn't work too. But maybe, I think the targeted girls would stick to minidolls even if minifigures are released, so some independent sets with minifigures might still work. Since Elves is getting a villain in the summer I wonder will we get a Disney Princess villain? Maybe, or maybe not. The thing happening is that there are no other human character than Kristoff in this wave, not matter if they're evil or not. Now the DP line looks like the one with fewest character per set among all current LEGO licensed themes, which is kinda a waste. As for all LEGO's themes for girls, Belville had evil witches so I'm sure others can do the same. Friends would be the main target cause the sets don't have the frenemies or rivals who play a big part in the cartoon. Edited December 23, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote
Sisilisko Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I got the 41068 Arendelle Festival for my youngest (5) for Christmas. Frozen is our favourite movie and the build was great. We enjoyed many hours of building fun. It was not a very challenging build, Friends and Elves are more challenging. However the Snowgies realt satisfied the need for "small cute things to keep an cherish". I enjoyed the color scheme and the overall design. I think I will moc this castle for my minidolls... However I dislike the slide. But then, I am not the target group. Quote
Soupperson1 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 No one is talking about 41067 Belle’s Enchanted Castle?! (it's around $60). http://www.sinqel.com/lego-betoverde-kasteel-belle-lego.html One set seems kind of weird so I expect more to be included in the summer wave, I'm just hoping they aren't palace pets of Frozen :P Quote
TomKraut Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I'm absolutely thrilled for Belle's Castle. The 2016 winter wave was extremely disappointing with the new Cinderella Minidoll from Juniors being the highlight for me (and maybe Sven). I will get the Frozen Sets, but as a 35 year old guy I just cannot be bothered with the palace pets (even my taste has limits ). Even if there are no more sets this year, a new real castle is long overdue, and not having to buy other sets makes it easier to buy multiples of this one and create a more substantial build (as I am still planning to do with my 3 Cinderella's Castles...). I'm also glad we will be getting a Belle Minidoll, and isn't there a new teapot mold in the Friends sets...? However, I don't dare to dream about a Beast Bigfig but maybe we will at least get him in his human form. A $60 set should come with at least two Minidolls. Cheers TomKraut Quote
OmShanti Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm very excited for Belle's Enchanted Castle. I've been hoping for Belle and Snow White. So this will be quite a treat. Eager for photos of this set. Quote

Cheers TomKraut I think the same about the Disney Princess Winter wave, Ariel & Cinderella in Junior Theme is like the DP winter wave we didn't get. It's the fist time Junior theme use minidolls. I laught about your Palace Pets quote and your limits, then I read about your 3 Cinderella's Castles. That one was pretty good In DP, I only have the sets with Jasmine (for the carpet principally), Aurore, Cinderella (the small wet with carriage), Merida and Ariel (the small set). I hope I could have Raiponce Tower soon and I could be interested inSven. As a big fan of Beauty and the Beast since my 9 years old, I can't wait the see the new set and the Belle minidoll. I wonder me the same you're thinking about the Beast in his human form ? But I'm afraid to see what Beast could be ion the DP Theme. I still hope to have it (with Belle, Ariel) in the CMF Disney series in May. Cheers Quote
Ultron Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Its kinda funny that it's called Belle's enchanted castle when it isn't even hers in the first place. It's the beast's castle :P Quote

It's the beast's castle :P I also think it's funny, but funny like just normal because it's Disney Princess Theme : DP Theme = Princess Belle = a place (a set) for Belle. And LEGO can't choose the library in the village, or even just the library in the castle or her bedroom, or in the prison so LEGO has to take the castle as Belle's castle because the best places (or set) for Belle are in the castle : Belle's enchanted castle I think we're gonna have a library, a place to dance, maybe her bedroom (with the Wardrobe?) but I mostly hope some characters like Mrs. Potts & Chip, Lumière or Cogsworth. I even would be so okay if there's just one minidoll (Belle) + these 5 great characters (Mrs. Potts & Chip, Lumière, Cogsworth, Wardrobe) instead of 2 minidolls. And one think I'm sure, there will be no prison Quote
Soupperson1 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm 100% sure we'll get Beast over Adam, the castle is still enchancted! I assume he'll be a bigwig or just be given gloves and a mask. If we could still get two mini dolls as well as a big fig why not Gaston? Hey we have to get villains at one point! :P With the introduction of the Elves villain I find this somewhat likely. I suspect Belle to be in her yellow dress, not her blue dress. She'll be the second LEGO Belle, third if you count me. :3 For the enchanted objects, Chip and Mrs. Potts are practically confirmed as they can use existing mounds. I wouldn't be surprised if we got the Wardrobe, as she could just have a sticker for a face. Lumiere and Cogs are less likely as they'll need new moulds, but their fame may allow new moulds. The sweeping brush may also be included, she could use the bottom of the janitors mop in black and have her face printed on a stick. Maybe even Belle's horse could be included if they want an animal. :P They could probably put faces on whatever pieces of furniture they want :P The castle itself is bound to have the friends garden accessory pack in red, to include the rose. The castle in the film was white with a warm gold roof, I suspect it to have the same colour scheme with purple/light pink added as an accent. I suspect a small library (I wonder what book mould they use), a portrait of Adam, Belle's room with the wardrobe(it be cool if her blue dress could be included in here as a sneaky suprise), giant dining room (please include the grey stuff, it is delicious!), Beast's bathroom with the tub. I hope we finally get the friends accessory pack in white or silver to celebrate be our guest. My hopes are probably too high but mabye LEGO will surprise us :P Quote

Airbenderfreak Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney film, so I'm so excited for this! I think they did a wonderful job with Cinderella's castle, so I have high hopes! I expect Belle, Adam, and lots of sentient furniture! Maybe a bigfig for Beast? Wow, a bigfig in a Disney Princess set, that'd be new! Edited January 9, 2016 by Airbenderfreak Quote
rodiziorobs Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) I doubt they would do a bigfig in the DP line. Not because they couldn't, but because it would probably seem out of place to the girls the theme is aimed toward. I am saying this based on TLG's findings and success with minidolls. In their research they concluded minidolls were more appealing to girls because of their doll-like design, whereas minifigs were a bit too "action figure"-like. Bigfigs as we currently know them are definitely more action figure than doll. Perhaps they could introduce a larger head piece that raised the shoulders and filled the body out more but that would still feel doll-like, but I'm not sure they would, since it would have to deviate so much from the current minidoll and resulting play experience. Edited January 9, 2016 by rodiziorobs Quote
TomKraut Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 They might apply their research on minidolls to create a "bigdoll". I doubt it though, because the DP line relies on the license more than other lines where the actual set (and figure / doll) designs are treated as more important. Let's face it, the fact that this is the first set including a Belle minidoll will be incentive-to-buy enough, with or without Beast. Quote
Airbenderfreak Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 While I loved Cinderella's castle, the Frozen castle was disappointing. I hope the Belle's castle is more like the former. They will probable have the library and the ballroom, plus room for the furniture. But I wonder, if they include Adam rather then the Beast, then they can't have the furniture as they all were transformed along with the Beast. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Quote
