Well, that looks about as terrible as expected. :sceptic: Not even the brick-built characters look good, except for the wardrobe maybe. I can't even imagine little girls being satisfied with those figures.

Does anyone think the Beast head could be used on a minifigure? If so, that would be the only redeeming aspect of this set...

Why is it so small? And the Beast head has been shrunk to be in proportion with the body, which of course makes it out of proportion overall. Argh I was so hoping for a proper Beast!

Oh god, that's ridiculously… bad? Idk, it looks like a mini-facade of the Castle. This isn't the CMF D2C, is it? It can't be. It mustn't be.

Why the heck would LEGO make the castle in this way and not make a properly build and sized castle? I'm one for having cheap sets, but not when they're weird mini versions of things. Also, gotta laugh at how huge the brick-built characters are in relation to the 'humans.'

My biggest problem is this looks less like a building and more like a drunk suburban father's attempt to put together his daughter's discount playhouse. Seriously, could they not even bother to keep a consistent color to the exterior walls? It amazes me that they went to great lengths to capture the angles of the wardrobes design but couldn't be bothered to make the castle look any more like the source material than that. I understand there's scale issues when fitting something into a particular price point but they at least could have gotten the basic shape right (Even Arrendale castle can claim it mantained a similar style and shape).

Beyond the likeness problems I would also like to say I'm disappointed that the building strategy still consists of using the largest pieces possible to build the core structure with most detail being added by use of sticker. Could they seriously not be bothered to even build windows from actual bricks? And the roof is just lazy. It's not like they don't produce a roof piece in the spire style, if they were dying to use big pieces for the build they at least could have chosen ones that worked for the style of the building.

The figures are decent. Belle and Beast are passable. The wardrobe, Mrs. Potts, Chip and Lumiere are pretty good, in fact I rather like how they turned out. Lumiere might have benefited from a molded piece for the main body, his size is a bit too large as a result. Cogsworth and the feather duster are pretty lazy, both scale and shape is not working for me.

Every year I get excited for these sets and every year I end up disappointed when they're revealed. There's always so much potential, they're great IP's after all, and yet that potential remains mostly untapped. I almost feel compelled to redesign it right now, it just could have turned out so much better!

terrible????

ask the girls their opinion...

My opinion is that it's yuck. The castle looks like it should be labeled as a Juniors set, with all those massive cylinder bricks and stickers. The colour combo is ugly, but is obviously based on the FantasyLand Beast's Castle. It's pretty bad that I think the best aspects of the set are the Belle minifig and the stained glass sticker. Oh, and that lion brick, but that's not new.

His head sure looks bulky on that skinny body. I suspect it can fit, since it looks like there is quite a gap between the head and the minidoll torso. Maybe it will show up in the Disney CMF series eventually.

This line has hit rock bottom :sceptic: Even the Castle Pets from the current wave had at least the interesting arches and the low price point going for them, but there is no way I'm going to buy an expensive castle that is this ugly. Belle is lovely though, and even if Beast does look way out of proportion it's not as horrible as I had feared, so I will pick them up from Bricklink or eBay. The furniture however I don't like at all, especially the giant Luminiere. Those Unikitty tails might come in handy though.

The tails are available in a much better set, Wu's Dragon.

Good to know, I have them already then

Has anyone found photos of that Rapunzel set seen at the London Toy Fair?

FamilyGamerTV has a video showing off Belle's set and Rapunzel's. It's very mediocre.

When can I find it? It isn't on their Youtube channel (yet?).

When it comes to a new head mold, the main problem is its neck. Just like you may not put Marge's head onto a minidoll housewife even if the image works. The Beast head is okay to me.

As for the set..... there are some major problems. I remembered that there are many sticked windows in Megablok Barbie and I believe that thing should not happen in LEGO. I also agree with the fact that LEGO sucks in scale. Elves or Nexo Knight either give more pieces and details. If the Princess line remain like this then Junior or Duplo would be where it should go.

Beast is a mask, not a head, so it should work over any minifigure head.
