Sarles Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Here are some pics I took at Brick Fair Virginia - 2015. Share pics you all have from this event! Quote
Wout Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Thank you for the pictures. I like the castle and the arena very much. Quote
drdesignz Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I uploaded several hundred pictures here and video . Quote
Captain Nemo Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Thanks for the pictures! I'm really considering attending BFVA next year, so any images of what it's like is helpful. Although I do have to ask--what up with the giant red curtains? I've only been to Brickworld Chicago, and they don't have any large view barriers like that! Quote

Although I do have to ask--what up with the giant red curtains? I've only been to Brickworld Chicago, and they don't have any large view barriers like that! The curtains serve two purposes. Firstly, they divide areas of the convention (such as, for instance, dividing the vendor areas from other sections, or partitioning the café or kids' free-build areas off from the rest of the building). Secondly, some sections (like the Space and Castle areas) have a curtained area between the tables to create "hideouts", which serve as areas for activities and seminars even during the public hours. Bricksnaps Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Wow what great pictures!!! Thanks so much for taking them and sharing. I really didn't have enough time to look and see everything. I cannot say enough about what a great event Brickfair VA is, loved my first time experience, my young family were all made to feel so welcome. Do you mind if I share your albulm elsewhere? Did you display anything? My daughter and I did the friendly wars- my son and I the lego Star Wars rebels attack, and then I can truly say my entire family helped with or Star Wars Endor build, after a day and a half I quit putting grass and foliage down and my wife took over. Sarles Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Stillinamerica, I don't mind if you share the pictures some where else. I loved your display too but I didn't get a chance to edit all my pictures yet. I've posted some more below that includes the few good ones I took of your display. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience at the Brickfair. I'm hoping to display next year, but I have a lot of pieces to sort through and purchase before getting my MOC built. I remember your family all being there on Saturday. I have a co-builder who will be 9 next year, where the events for the conference attendee's pretty decent for kiddos to attend or are they more AFOL oriented? Edited August 5, 2015 by Sarles Quote
Bricksnaps Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Thanks!! Yes mine were 8 and 6. We didn't do anything other than set up our MOC's, spend money and build sets. My kids had been saving their money for 5 months so had great fun shopping and actually buying lego on person. We always had stuff to trade and some of the vendors were great at trading. They also really enjoyed just building, sets they bought there or from the pot of lego I bought with me. We signed up for a couple of games but never made it to them. At that age also they liked to hang close- there were a couple of older children, 10-11 that they would go and play with for a bit. It really is more Afol but that is fine, as long as the kids are not crazy everyone is nice to them. Cheers Quote

Yes you should come, lots of fun to be had, plus a huge minifig crowd that will just love your Batman builds. And to further Lynchir, the curtains kinda suck when looking for people - BW you can easily spot anyone assuming not a large crowd - but it does allow you to hide during public and have fun, like the most epic game of Spoons ever: Quote

I'm going bigger! But yes, the curtains they just seem in the way to me--but who knows, I've not been there in person so it might not be that much of a big deal. Quote

Bricksnaps Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Did they announce the winners of the brickies and public fav? Quote
drdesignz Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Did they announce the winners of the brickies and public fav? They don't really announce it, but the awards are placed by the creations and they're listed on the website. The public favorite was The Vatican: St. Peter's Basilica and Bernini's Colonnade. Quote
