Belloq Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 (edited) Did anyone else notice the wierd gray thing around Marion's neck? What could THAT be? I really wanted to get a staff and a Head Piece for the Staff of Ra, but there's nowhere to include it. :-( The hieroglyphic looks kinda like that, but without the egyptian knealing dude. It looks like the beggining of Episode 6, R2 and Threepio walking with a dune behind them. Edited November 29, 2007 by Belloq Quote
jedikermit Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 The Egyptian kneeling dude is definitely there in the LEGO set--on the far left of the hieroglyphic. And I think that grey thing on Marion's torso is just the detailing on her dress-a kind of lacy rosette that's on the bodice of her dress. Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 The Egyptian kneeling dude is definitely there in the LEGO set--on the far left of the hieroglyphic. Holly crap !! I never realised that and I saw that freaking movie a lot of times 8- Quote
jedikermit Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 If it IS the Headpiece of the Staff of Ra, it's very inaccurate for a few reasons: the color, the detailing, and the fact that when she's wearing that dress, she doesn't wear it as a necklace. I still think it's just the lacy rosette on her dress, and not this: Quote

Mr Spielbrick Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Naturally the recycled faces bother me, *yoda* . Would you have been happy with the Han Solo face for Indy? And that could have been considered a defendable move. But Belloq and Malfoy are not alike at all, so giving him the same face kind of bugs me. Like it did when they used the 'movie star' face for Norman Osborn in the first Spider-Man line. And if they were going for the recycle route anyway, why not use the Grand Moff Tarkin face? Seems like a much more logical choice to me. Of course you're right that this is a fairly minor gripe, but I wanted to vent it anyway. The Indy sets in general and lots of their details make me "giddy like a schoolboy". *y* Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Well TLC has said somewhere that they can only make a limited number of new pieces for their themes, and there is clearly alot of new parts for this line. Quote
Belloq Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 (edited) Hey! I noticed something (again) Its a change in the Temple escape set. The slope at the end, it has a new pattern! Before it was all desert-like, it had some cracks and stuff and was sand colored, looks like it now has some boulders along with some vines printed (I hope) on it! *y* EDIT: Looks like we won't get a movable spike wall to impale Satipo on. :-( Edited November 29, 2007 by Belloq Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Upon looking at Hinckley's pictures and paying utterly no attention whatsoever to the following pages(JK :-P ) I have come to these conclusions: 1. The motorcycle chase looks awesome. 2. The snake pit does indeed contain a picture on the wall of the kneeling guy, R2, and 3PO and a bendable whip! Come on, Lego! Don't skip out on this one! >:-( 3. The driver of the machine-gun car has Jonah Jameson's head from Spider Man 2. 4. I really don't mind Belloq's head being Malfoy's, not that I collect HP or take into account which heads belong to which torsos, but it somehow fits my expectations and the new torso. Hurray for Hinckley! :-P X-D Quote
Batbrick Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Thanks Hinckley, this only confirms just how brilliant this line is! :'-) I just have two gripes, one is already mentioned, the recycling of heads :-( But the biggest one of all, look at the Skeleton ARMS! *n* To the Brickmobile! >:-) Quote
Vader Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 So i see a lot of people are unhappy about the lack of new faces, well i agree it's not good. However they can be changed to different ones, sure you wont have a proper face but at least you can have different looking nazi's. Quote
Scouty Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 You know it does indeed look a bit like r2 and 3p0 X-D That would be a sweet nod to SW, It will be a damn shame if hovito is out of this set. I know it looks that way at the moment but i remember k3p0 not being in a lot of pics of the hoth base, but then he was included. Yeah, it is actually in Raiders. In the Well of the Souls, on one of the pillers. Thank you, Hinkley, for all these lovely pictures! Quote
LEGO Maniac JEM Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I love all of these sets and I must buy at least one of each set, but the skeleton arms look horrible. :-X :-X Quote
Batbrick Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I love all of these sets and I must buy at least one of each set, but the skeleton arms look horrible. :-X :-X _________ One simple word: Agreed :-X (btw, I like the arms on the undead skellies in the Castle line, but not on the dead :-X ) To the Brickmobile! >:-) Quote
Hinckley Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Thanks--I don't know anything about Bionicle. So yeah, nice that they can use those!...and if that is an R2-D2 and C-3PO hieroglyphic, it's taken directly from Raiders of the Lost Ark: You can see a little more about it here: http://www.nerf-herders-anonymous.net/RZ.html :-D :-D :-D That is totally the hieroglyphic in that set. Awesome catch! I love that they added that into the set. *wub* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 :-D :-D :-D That is totally the hieroglyphic in that set. Awesome catch! I love that they added that into the set. *wub* Yes, and the fact they have put it in the lego version makes it even funnier! *wub* Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I basically concur with BatBrick and LMJ here. The skellie arms are fine for holding weapons, but in an Indy set? They just look wrong. I mean, they're dead, right? It's not like they were throwing spears aroung with their dead arms! :-P Quote
Scouty Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I wonder if the eyes on the Anubus statues in the Well of the Souls are printed or stickers. Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 They look like stickers to me :-( And they should replace the 2 skeletons in the big set with 2 hovitos *wub* Quote
Ricecracker Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I wonder if the eyes on the Anubus statues in the Well of the Souls are printed or stickers. unfortunately i think that those are stickers :'-( :'-( Quote
Scouty Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 They probably are. Something has to accompany the Hieroglyphics sticker on the sticker sheet X-D Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Just think of the skeletons as dead Hovito's. There we go, Hovito problem solved. Wait... Even I myself don't buy that. We want Hovito's! Quote
Vader Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Wait... Even I myself don't buy that. We want Hovito's! Indeed, it's gonna be a real shame if we don't get them and to be honest it's looking like we wont, why lego do these sort of things is beyond me :-| Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Indeed, it's gonna be a real shame if we don't get them and to be honest it's looking like we wont, why lego do these sort of things is beyond me :-| While I completely agree with this sentiment, I can somewhat appreciate why TLC would not want to include Hovitos as part of a set. While we all understand the role they played in the film and the context in which they were depicted, I think TLC has a valid concern that casual (i.e. Christmas) LEGO-buying shoppers unfamiliar with the detail of the film might have a strong reaction seeing a set dark-skin toned "primitive" minifig, especially given they'd most likely be "chucking" spears in Dr. Jones' general direction (a rod with a feather clip to simulate a blow-gun would be more accurate, but I'm willing to bet TLC would just give us the spear). It's true that the Islanders line didn't cause any issues as far as I know, but then the native peoples in those sets were clearly the protagonists of the line and as such were presented in a positive context; the Hovitos (tricked by Belloq though they were), however, would be depicted as the aggressors against Indy, and thus presented in a negative role, albeit one with mitigating factors (Indy stealing their idol). Regretfully, I think it's a case of TLC wanting to protect itself against a knee-jerk, ill-informed reaction to a Hovito minifig that would ultimately be shown to be false but still result in significant bad press for the company. badger Quote

I mean, everyone was mad enough at Lego for making un-made figs in the first, second, and now third LSW! Come on, we saw them in the trailer. At least make them in the sets! >:-( Quote
