CM4Sci Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 What about the US landmark? Also maybe you should add these two sets to the first post of this thread - are they for 2H or 1H? Summer. Someone said the US one was the US Capitol Building but I haven't been told it's true or not. Quote
Cwetqo Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 That was me. I still think it' credible, but its 2h set, so we will have to wait and see. Price point is supposed to be 100euro. Quote
jluck Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Good authority. Awesome! I have a feeling I'll like it! Quote
Fabulandlover Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 21029 Buckingham Palace* Really? OMG, OMG! What would be the estimated size/piece count? Quote
tafkatb Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Berlin - Brandenburg Gate. Tall needle-like building, red and white. Black building that looks round. Tall statue, has a gold trophy fig on top. Tan building with grey roof. Next to the building are two 1x2 tiles with prints on them, they look like banners/advertisements/something. This part was confusing me at first, but now that I've gotten a good look at it, I can confirm those are actually painted segments of the Berlin Wall. Quote

Herky Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Buckingham Palace will be cool, but I agree, how big will they go? I keep hearing on other threads that they will do the Tower and Big Ben in a Creator big size next year, similar to the big Sydney Opera House US Landmark - could be the Arch, could be lots of things, either way I like hearing that we are now getting 6 sets with the 4 skyline ones and now these 2 Quote
Ondra Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 There were rumours, that lego is planning for 2016 another architecture set of lego house located in Billund. Is this still scheduled for 2016 release or postponed to 2017 when will be that house build? https://wwwsecure.lego.com/cs-cz/legohouse?domainredir=www.legohouse.com Quote

When it was completed they would release a creator set of it. One of the large sets. But that was just a runout. Quote
Herky Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I recall reading that as well, this time it would be bigger and not all in white, would have the actual colors...would be excited for that. 21029...wonder if that would go with the creator Big Ben set? I can't see how it would. Still wondering what the US one will be, Capitol is fine, we have the White House, but would more excited to see something else. Quote

legonerd54321 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I'm going to rule out the St. Louis Arch for 3 main reasons. 1. The building would get VERY repetitive 2.There is no affective building technique without using a lot of pieces while keeping it look nice. 3.Adding on from 2, the size would be too big if we use a technique like in the photo below while it's keeping the design and detail. Quote
Herky Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 well, 1. all Lego builds are somewhat repetitive and if you look at architecture overall, repetitive city, Pisa for one, Eiffel Tower, the first skyscrapers, etc. They have been selling Arches for years in all sizes down at the Arch, you could do anywhere from a 200 piece set to a 2000 piece set, sure it will be repetitive, but ever build a house in real life? Framing with studs and all, super repetitive, but that is what works. 2. I bet the designers could handle it 3. If you go to the St Louis Science Center, Adam did a great build down there, it would be on the creator end of the scale though, you could still do the Arch without the windows, half of the early builds do not have windows In the end, I don't really care, I am just excited to get 6 Architecture sets next year, but agree that we have too many DC buildings for US. Great builds all over, give me any one of the multiple suggestions over the years on this site, so many good ones. Quote

I'm confused - it would be the 3rd DC set - that's not too much considering there are 6 NYC sets. Heck, there are already 3 Chicago sets too. I agree though that the Capitol should be the last DC set they should consider making (No other iconic buildings in DC IMO - and Washington monument would be boring), and finally make the Sagrada Familia, St. Peters Basilica, or Kremlin sets I have been wishing for! Steve309 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Toys r us in Germany if you buy an architecture set you get a lego architecture book. (I think. I don't read German) http://www.promobricks.de/gratis-lego-architecture-liebhaber-buch-bei-toysrus/10900 If anyone is in Germany and gets this book. Can you post a few photos. I want to know if I should look into getting this book Edited December 10, 2015 by Steve309 Quote

Herky Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 US Legoshop has all 4 sets with prices available for viewing, New York is $60, Burj is $40 (wasn't original $20?), Venice and Berlin are $30 each. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Architecture-ByTheme Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 $60? Not surprised. Architecture sets are usually overpriced. They should all be $30 at most. Expected the Burj Khalifa to be $60. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 $60? Not surprised. Architecture sets are usually overpriced. They should all be $30 at most. Though it's on the same base footprint as the other two skylines, the NYC one has 598 pieces - more than double the others. There's no way that should be $30. Quote

rollermonkey Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Wow. The PPP on the Architecture sets are kind of steep for Burj and Venice. Berlin 289 pieces - 29.99 Venice 212 pieces - 29.99 NYC 598 pieces - 59.99 Burj 333 Pieces - 39.99 Quote
Herky Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 agree, they all seem to be $10 over priced, but that is the way, the modular series keeps going up and up as well, I would adjust thinking from a 10 cents per piece on avg to much higher in the coming years. I used to think and really still do, that 6-8 cent average is correct, this would drop the cost on these down to the levels I feel they should be...I believe I saw somewhere, when we went to Legoland, that the true cost per piece (adding in everything from manufacturing to advertising) is around 2 cents per piece. So at 10 cents they are making 5 x the amount in profit. I am thrilled we get the sets, but now I see prices, I may just wait for the landmark sets unless I can find them at a bargain price. Quote
henrysunset Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 So at 10 cents they are making 5 x the amount in profit. I am thrilled we get the sets, but now I see prices, I may just wait for the landmark sets unless I can find them at a bargain price. Most LEGO sets are sold a wholesale prices to stores like ToysRUs, neighborhood toy shops, or even Amazon.com, and it is very likely that those stores pay 40-50% of MSRP to buy the sets. They also need to warehouse, distribute, pay store employees, absorb costs of lost/stolen/returned merchandise, etc... As such, they pick a sale price that allows them to make the most money. In the case of brick and mortar stores, they seem to make the most money by sticking pretty close to MSRP, with occasional sales to drive people into stores, or eliminate surplus inventory. Amazon has lower overhead and needs to offer lower prices to compete with brick and mortar stores, so they use complex algorithms to pick a price that maximizes their profits. Either way, the store probably paid about 50$ for an MSRP 100$ set. TRU tries to sell it for 100$, which after their costs probably gives them 25$ profit. Amazon tries to sell for 80$, which after lower overhead costs probably also gives them 25$ profits. The moral of the story is that the total cost to LEGO group to make each brick, even when factoring in advertising, is probably not the complete story. They sell that 0.02$ brick for closer to 0.05$ at wholesale, then the retailer brings the price up to 0.10$. P.S. why do you think LEGO loves their LEGO brand stores? They get to take the profit at both wholesale and retail levels! Quote
