Thank y'all for the kind words. :classic:

What reviews will you be doing next?

Next is the Chevy Camaro Drag Race!

Next is the Corvette, and that's it for what I have! I plan on getting the other small Audi set if I can find it this weekend. The biggest set of the wave... I may get.

I built the Audi R18 tonight and despite it being a bit of a sticker-fest it's quite remarkable how they managed to capture the look of the car. My favourite Speed champions set yet!

After watching your review I may possibly try to pick this Camaro set up tomorrow from ToysRus.

Are the Lego stores going to get these sets?

No, unfortunately LEGO has decided to stop selling their own products in their stores. The only thing the LEGO stores sell now is toilet paper and too many choices of deodorant.

Thanks for another good review J2G!

On the subject of the cars, the rake on the Z28 is insane, again... Honestly they should have designed it so that putting a normal size tire on the back would result in a normal non-raked stance, but no, lego had to rake the **** out of it again. Otherwise it is a good looking model

The 2016 car, looks good, but those oddly textured roof tiles and the rear are weak points, they could have easily used two of those round bushes rather then sticker on two round exhausts..

And im expecting this set to be horribly overpriced in europe again, $30 will probably translate to €40-45

Man,some of those Sets look great. But to be honest,i would love to have only the classic Camaro and the Hotrod.About the Camaro`s Rake:Sure,it looks a bit too raked, but otherweise it gives the Car some kind of Hotwheels-like Look

The Raptor Pickup sure looks neat, but is it just me or is the Car gigantic compared to Minifigs and other regular Lego Cars?

Also,i wonder if Instructions for the Hotrod/Raptor Set already exist somewhere......

I've heard that the new sets were exclusive to Toys R Us. That's why I was asking. Can you confirm just2good?

The sets should be available at LEGO Stores (I've seen em there) and TRUs.

Yeah, and to the LEGO Store/S@H.

Does the second wave of cars use the same tan technic pin to connect the wheels?

Yep!

They went "All-American" on the classic Camaro rake. The Lego model seems to represent the type of car you would see at the Friday Night Drags at any number of 1/4 mile drag racing strips across America. Those often have the huge intake on the hood and massive rear tires creating some rake. Still, Lego exaggerated the rake and tire size, but that is very Lego and I love the classic Camaro.

Yep!

That's disappointing... The one real flaw with the first wave was that the cars did not roll all that well. The Ferrari hauler truck and basic City cars roll more freely.

If there is space within the cars, you could swap out the pins used in the wheels, and use a long technic axle connecting both wheels together. That would roll better (in a straight line, at least).

Yep!

Thanks! I was at a Lego store today and they said March 1. However, I did find the new sets at Toys R Us today. I picked up Ford Mustang GT, Corvette Stingray and the Camero set.

Question - I wanna get one of these cars really bad, they're so cool! Usually cars aren't my thing. I wanna get one of the singular car sets, which one do you guys think is best? They're really detailed and the builds amaze me. I'd also like to get the new 2x2 wedge but some of the other sets don't have that.

Which do you recommend?

If they do continue with this lineup, they can consider more LMP cars, GTE cars as well as F1 cars in addition to the existing machines.

As a recent WEC/le-mans convert, id love that! The 458GT2 is easily my favorite from the first line, although the 911 RSR looks good as well

Fingers crossed for a GTE Vantage and a TS040/050 next year!

They're the next two cars I'm hoping for. It would almost complete the grid of LMP1 and GTE cars.

Also, I'm loving the WEC branding on the Porsche pitlane.

Am I the only one who loves the giant tires from the classic Camaro? I think it is good to do something that is stupid as f*** for a drag race.

I am in agreement with both you and SpaceMonkey. I've been modifying my cars with the attached picture. this allows me to keep the cars smaller and use the older hubs and arches (the tire is the same as used on Hoexbroe's car) the below pictures show the parts used in the technique, and my viper (first place I used it)

Inspired by your Viper and the 60113 set, I've had a go at modifying Henrik's McLaren F1 GTR to fit a minifig driver. The base design also modifies well to represent a Ferrari 458 Italia, which I think looks much better than the weirdly proportioned and hyper-stickered Lego SC version from last year.

Found the Porsche pit lane set in my local Smyths toys yesterday so naturally I bought it.

What a great set it is! Both the 919 and 917k are incredible and the build is excellent too. Once the pit building is folded up it looks exactly like an actual Garage front from the Workd endurance championship with the correct branding and amazing refuelling and tyre rig hanging over the front.

The set sadly does include over 80 stickers but they serve to make the cars and pit stall busy with details which I don't mind. I'm almost tempted to buy another so I can put my R18 next to the 919.

My rankings for this wave so far are:

Porsche pit stop

Audi R18

Chevrolet Corvette

Ford Mustang

Audi R8

Just need to find the other two sets now.

What would postage to the netherlands be? I wouldnt mind picking up the 919H and 917K for a fair price if you feel like splitting a set.
