cullmancreations Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Please have Discussion of Wishes for 2016 Pirates in this thread. Check out this topic for the 2015 Rumor and Discussion topic. Original Post Below Well after getting information on the upcoming sets for next year It doesn't look like we'll be getting any more Pirate themed sets. Do you guys think any thing will come out later next year and we haven't heard about it yet or is it truly over again? Quote
Kalais Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Nope. There won't be any new pirates ASFAIK. It was just quick edition with no plans of expanding it. Quote
cullmancreations Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Nope. There won't be any new pirates ASFAIK. It was just quick edition with no plans of expanding it. That sucks. When do you think they'll start pulling the sets off shelves. I want to pick up the Brick Bounty. Im not sure if I should do it now with double VIP points or wait for a good sale. Quote
Sir von Lego Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Pirates doesn't sell well in these days. It's the same as we saw what happened with the last castle wave. Not enough sales to continue. So I predict that in near future (perhaps for the next 10 years) we will always see "one-year" waves changing between castle, pirates and a third theme... Quote
cullmancreations Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Well if PotC 5 is coming out in 2 years we can hope for some new ship sets to accompany the movie. Hopefully this time next year we'll find out if that will happen. Quote
Alfadas Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 The PotC sets didn't sell all that well, so I don't think we will see more of them. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I think Pirates 2015 was planned as a 1 wave line Besides, Ningajo es getting a pirates subtheme next so it's unlikely for them to have 2 pirates lines simultaneously Quote
Dorayaki Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I still hope to see more from PotC. As for classic Pirates, yes, looks like it better serves as a replacement when other themes don't have pirate things so that we can get pirate ships every year. Quote
David Thomsen Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I wasn't really expecting to see Pirates in the new listings so wasn't disappointed. But don't forget that these sets don't include D2C sets, so we might still see some kind of exclusive Pirate ship or building. Quote
Matthias Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Mmh no more pirates, a Castle wave which is not really Castle.Lego just only producing crap lines. Quote
BrickOn Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 This makes me sad, I was hoping for at least some smaller battle packs and a bigger fort. I guess I will look for duplicates of the current theme if I can pick them up cheap at some point and build them into something different and now concentrate on collecting the vintage pirates... :-( I guess it really was too much to hope for an advent calendar! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I think LEGO would be silly not to continue Pirates in some form...most likely, the ninjago theme will take care of it for a year and then POTC will help continue the trend. I don't see why LEGO wouldn't continue with that. The movies must be making enough money to warrant another sequel. I don't know any sales figures, but the sales can't be too bad considering they would have only planned on a few key sets that went along with the movie promotion. Plus, Disney and LEGO love working together. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Dont be hasty. Pirates always come up around summertime so even though we accidentally saw Amazon+LEGO "hidden" next year agenda, we can't be sure of LEGO's summer sets imo. Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Well after getting information on the upcoming sets for next year ... Are you referring to 2016? The PotC sets didn't sell all that well, so I don't think we will see more of them. How do you know the sets didn't sell well? There were two waves of POTC in May and November 2011. Stranger Tides was released May 2011 with no new sequals expected until 2013, so it wasn't surprising that the theme was discontinued. Phredit: Well after getting information on the upcoming sets for next year ... Since you have not responded, I assume you meant to discuss Pirates in 2016. This topic is now for 2016 Pirate Rumors and Discussion and has been renamed. Quote
Ashnflash Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I loved the POTC line! If they had only waited one year later we could've had a game with the audio from the movie.... And I don't think there will be any more Pirate sets since Ninjago will be now heavily featuring them in a season to come! Quote
yys4u Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I think we should all band together as a community and buy as many pirate sets as possible to boost sales and get LEGO to continue making them! In all seriousness tho, I will at least get each set again to have doubles, maybe triple. I wish I had last time it came along, so hopefully I can do that this time. I do want to get the ship at least 3 times. Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I think we should all band together as a community and buy as many pirate sets as possible to boost sales and get LEGO to continue making them! Captain Dee is way ahead of you. Quote
Captain Dee Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Well... since the Phredinator mentioned it... Because I build primarily 17th-18th century material, whenever a new Pirates line is launched I'll buy large multiples of everything for the parts and figures, and it makes me wonder - how much can we, the serious fans of the theme, skew sales by making big purchases? Sadly, I'm afraid we can't do that much considering that the greatest volume will go to the target audience: young children, boys especially. But I could be wrong. If everyone bought the theme like me Pirates would be a continual theme and they'd be building another factory to keep up. If you have any interest in this theme AT ALL buy them now before TLG pulls the plug and they get lost at sea for another 5-8 years. (If you want numbers, well, my set total came to high double figures... and I got quite a bit of stuff through B&P...) Quote
Plaid Beard Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 It didn't seem to me that TLG did much to support this year's pirate line, so I am not surprised they aren't doing more. Not only do I not remember seeing anything Pirates in the magazine, but I work for a major retailer and none of our stores I went to had any sets but the ones under $20, then didn't get restocked. Am didn't hear about the Ninjago pirates subtheme until just now, so hopefully wecan do some things with that. Quote
Captain Dee Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 All this talk of a hybrid ninja/pirate line for next year has served me quite well... ...as a sleeping aid. *Z-z-z-z* Sadly that's what much of Lego has become: just another action/fantasy/sci-fi hodgepodge. The lack of such is what made the classic Pirates line (and, for the most part, the subsequent lines) so appealing. Quote
mattb483 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I think this line was alot better then the 2009 line, but I didn't really expect it to get anymore waves except for a DSC set by the begining of 2016 (hopefully). If so I hope to get a port with a small tade ship this time. Another imperial flagship would pry look like a rehash of the 2010 one, not that it was bad but I already bought a few of those and want something different this time around. Lego is alot different these days vs. The old days back in the 80'and 90's, most of the AFOL here like myself can see kids now are more into the whole super hero/fantasy and not into the good old pirtes, knights, and cowboys. I did enjoy the POTC line however I hate flesh figures. That was the only drawback to that line. Anyways hopefully we get atleast one more set before pirates goes back up on the shelf again, so we can only now keep are fingers crossed! Quote
Jellyeater Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I bought all the sets except the ship. I think that they're awful. I sorted they without building. Ship is to expansive and has ugly, one side printed sails, with ugly skull on it, so I think is useless even for parts. :( When I try to build my own ship my girlfriend will sew sails for me. Quote
CaptainToad Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This makes me sad, I was hoping for at least some smaller battle packs and a bigger fort. I guess I will look for duplicates of the current theme if I can pick them up cheap at some point and build them into something different and now concentrate on collecting the vintage pirates... :-( I guess it really was too much to hope for an advent calendar! Indeed, I would have liked to build a small blue coat army but as it seems I will give it a pass. The sets are IMHO worth buying only once as there are only few soldiers in each set, morever the sets are kinda unique in regard to mimifigs - I mean how many pirate prinesses or admirals do you need? :) I was thinking about the chess set as a battle pack - but the soldiers wear mostly wigs... So I will just give it a pass... and wait a couple of years until new stuff comes out I bought all the sets except the ship. I think that they're awful. I sorted they without building. Ship is to expansive and has ugly, one side printed sails, with ugly skull on it, so I think is useless even for parts. :( When I try to build my own ship my girlfriend will sew sails for me. I agree with the ship - definitely not worth it - as far as the sets, I think they were not that bad - but they werent good either... still I liked them for the minifigs and the pirates flair Quote
BrickOn Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I mean how many pirate prinesses or admirals do you need? :) I was thinking about the chess set as a battle pack - but the soldiers wear mostly wigs... Hmmm now that you mention it, I would have an army of pirate princesses... :-) I may have accidentally bought another shipwreck defense and outpost the other day. Yea I was thinking about the chess set and ordering a load of shakos, but since they were sold out last time I checked I have held off... Quote
Jellyeater Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I think they were not that bad - but they werent good either... Solders fort is like an arbour. :) Jail without the wall. Like in The Matrix. :) And the technic connectors palms spoil impressions. :( Solider outpost is OK but not brilliant. Quote
