BrickOn Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Oooo nice surprise, that head piece looks perfect, so much better than a gargoyle reuse. I will have a dancing circle of satrys :-) (I hope there is at least 4 in a box) Quote
SirBlake Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 What a nice surprise! I think the gargoyle piece could have been made to work, but this is much better. So it is time for legoised Narnia. I have no problem with that. Quote
Ed3n Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Wow the Satyr's head piece is so..handsome. I didn't expect this. I hope it will have a nice face printing to go with it, not something that is dopey looking. This might just be my new favourite minifigure. I will certainly be picking up quite a few. Can' t wait for more leaks. Quote
telaruhn Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 The Faun's hairpiece is bomb and quite a surprise. I need a few of those! Hopefully even with the new mold he still gets panpipes... Wait, so does that mean the rumor saying the part from S13 or S14 being used in this one is false? Or will it actually be for another figure? IIRC, if the Queen's dress isn't a new piece, we have 7 new molds that have been revealed. This gets me more and more hyped the closer we get to the final reveal. So far everything has been living up to that! Quote
x105Black Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Looks like we're getting a new headmould for the faun too. That looks better than the Gargoyle piece. That's a nice surprise. I'm even more excited about this minifigure now. I'm seriously doubting the new leg mold at this point, which is very unfortunate. Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Itaria's rumor was refering to the Satyr. He only knew the name, and just assumed that the Satyr would reuse the Gargoyle piece. Edited October 29, 2015 by 8BrickMario Quote
Robert8 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Oh my god I love that headpiece!! Looks so detailed. This series will be awesome. If they give him moulded legs, this will be one of the best CMF ever!!! By the way, I think Clumsy Man will have moulded arms Quote
x105Black Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 By the way, I think Clumsy Man will have moulded arms I think he will have dual molded arms to reflect the short sleeves, but beyond that I think they will be the same as any other minifigure. Quote
telaruhn Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Itaria's rumor was refering to the Satyr. He only knew the name, and just assumed that the Satyr would reuse the Gargoyle piece. Well it makes sense Itaria came to that conclusion - and your mockup on the Gargoyle headpiece made it seem all too possible. But I am also pleased with the new mold, if not moreso. It's more likely that the Clumsy Guy's arms are normal ones, since the crutch molds don't reach his armpits like normal crutches. It looks like they've been modified to work with regular arms. It always frustrates me when lego bends the arms to impossible positions in their artwork or CGI - It's like the Snake Charmer all over again. Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 That is an awesome new head mold for the faun! Thanks! Quote
AmperZand Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Now... unfortunately, this does make it more likely that we won't see a new leg mould, which is what I was really hoping for. A new leg mould to go with this fantastic headpiece would be ideal. Standard or short legs wouldn't look right. What makes you think that the new headpiece makes new legs less likely? Sure, there's a production cost constraint, but we have had two new moulds in one CMF before; I think the chicken suit guy, bagpiper and maracas player (Mexican) for examples each had two new moulds. Why not the satyr? Edited October 29, 2015 by AmperZand Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I am afraid of two peg legs... Quote
telaruhn Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If I'm not mistaken, there are even figures with three new molds, like the Genie or the Butcher. The Bagpiper and Maraca Man both introduced the kilt and poncho cloth parts, so technically they both have three new parts, as well. So it's not totally far-fetched if the Satyr has three new parts (hair, panpipes, and legs), but it certainly would be a surprising treat. Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 The Gargoyle was the only two-new-mold figure last time, but the Clumsy Guy and Shark Suit Guy have already broken that, so perhaps the Satyr will have better legs. I hope he will, but I think they'd choose a Pan pipes piece over new legs. Quote

Sure, there's a production cost constraint, but we have had two new moulds in one CMF before; I think the chicken suit guy, bagpiper and maracas player (Mexican) for examples each had two new moulds. Why not the satyr? Well, first off, we haven't seen a new leg mould introduced... ever. Sure we've seen new peg leg moulds (in Monster Hunters. Not CMF) and we've seen new tails and (now) dress moulds... but never 2 new legs and a hip joint... inside or outside of CMF. (Save for the Long Legs from Toy Story). That's got to be expensive. Then, couple that with a new mould that has 2 colours in it (yellow and brown) and requires painting on the horns... that's got to be expensive too. I think the better precedent to site would be the genie who had a new accessory mould and a new tail mould... but a tail is not as complex as a leg. In fact, of the 3 mfs to have a peg leg in this line, I can't think if one that had a genuinely new piece and not just a recolour. So I'm not optimistic for our chances. I would love to see goat legs. Like, you have no idea how much I want that.... but I have my doubts. But this sexy hairpiece may make me forget any disappointment I feel... mmm. I just want to run my hands through those delightfully detailed locks! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited October 29, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote

Why not the satyr? Basically what others have said. I think the more likely outcome will be the new headpiece and a new pan pipes piece. That, along with other figures getting more new molds, makes me think they will be less likely to include the new leg design on the Satyr. It will likely be a great figure either way, but the legs would be a major wow factor. Quote

Yes, I agree. What I thought TLG would do - and should have clarified in my previous post - was make a single piece pair of goat legs. In other words, the legs wouldn't be articulated. They would be static in the same way short legs are. I still think that might be what TLG plans. I really hope Itaria is wrong and they don't go with double peg legs. I've seen that in MOC satyrs and it doesn't look right. If the satyr comes with standard or peg legs, I'll swap them out for the faun legs being produced by Crazy Bricks: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crazybricks/crazy-arms-for-your-miniature-brick-figures/posts/1342449 Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I would hate a shorter satyr. and I would want articulated legs, so the standard legs with hoof printing seem the most likely. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If they make a new mold for their legs, it has to be reused soon. Genie's tail has been used in Spongebob and Genie S12. And so on. It's very rare a mold that has been used only in the CMF serie for only ONE minifigure. Quote
BrickOn Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Does lack of leaks indicate there is less likely to be another new piece? Do all new pieces tend to get leaked at a similar time? Or do you think we've just seen the new head gear? I don't know what I want to see for this one, obviously new legs would be awesome, but if we don't get those, I am still not going to hate the guy, that head piece is so cute :-) If they make a new mold for their legs, it has to be reused soon. Female satyr :-) (joking) or is this a hint that we'll be getting a Zombie hotdog guy soon? Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) I would prefer an articulated new piece just like in Boudon's art work... but I doubt we'll see it. I'd certainly prefer the new legs over the pan pipe. I'm not sure how I would feel about the solid mould idea. I never actually considered that, but thinking about it now, it's much more likely than the other options. I think I'd be a bit disappointed if we got a solid leg mould. Just a bit, since I love articulation and pose-ability options that arise from hip-articulated legs. Also, aside from the short legs, all non-tail lego legs have articulation. Even horses these days have some. I think that immobile goat legs would be a bit odd. But maybe that's just me. I'd actually prefer dual peg legs, but Lego would never do that on an official figure, since the peg legs are leg specific. Well, to be honest, I can think of quite a few reuses for the legs. Evil Satyr comes readily to mind (that could reuse the hair piece too). Female Satyr would be another obvious choice (and I could still see the same hairpiece used there too, but I think it'd be more likely be a new one.) And then there are less obvious (or likely) ones, like a Jersey Devil (or something like it) or a roman marble statue, either as a CMF or in like a Modular building (maybe a museum) or perhaps an undead Satyr, or devil character (we do also have the Gargoyle wings... maybe in Nexo Knights?), or if they're a little shorter legs than usual, we could see them reused for the Satyr in Hercules, or, yeah, maybe even a Narnia set or something. Or, to really, really speculate... perhaps we could see it reused in a Greco-Roman theme to make the history buffs happy during Nexo Knights' tenure... ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited October 29, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Sven F Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) You do realize that the leg assembly technically uses 3 molds? hips, right leg, left leg, and even if the hips were the same, that's still two molds, which means two machines. I vote highly unlikely, but the flute would make the figure interesting outside of its primary niche. Edited October 29, 2015 by Sven F Quote

That would be awful. Short unarticulated legs are bad enough. I would prefer peg legs, and I wouldn't really want that either. I'd specifically want the original leg design. I doubt we would get that, as it would be 2 new molds in addition to the headpiece, and a possible pan flute, but it's what I want. I'm also not too keen on those faun legs. They look cheap, and are also unarticulated. They're also not LEGO, and I'm personally a bit of a purist. Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 LEGO has never made unarticulated (separated) full-size legs, so they won't start now. But asking for a new pair of legs would be too much for LEGO to spend on one minifigure, especially since goat legs aren't high on the list of reusability. I'm already surprised that they went to the trouble of making a new hair/horns/ears piece, so Pan pipes are all that I expect. Hopefully, he'll have a double sided face that can make him look like he's playing the pipes. Quote
