x105Black Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Hopefully, he'll have a double sided face that can make him look like he's playing the pipes. That's a neat idea, despite the fact that I'm generally against double sided heads (because they aren't reusable with certain hats or bald). Quote
rodiziorobs Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Woah! Did not expect a new hairpiece; it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the gargoyle one would be reused instead. For the legs, in terms of reusability they could make a new hip piece that connects to torsos, but has handles for legs (like skeleton legs) to clip onto. The hip piece could be reused in a dozen different situations, with new leg molds as TLG saw fit, and then the only part specific to this CMF would be a goat-leg piece that would fit both left and right. Also, the legs could then be used in other instances, like how black skeleton feet show up in all kinds of sets nowadays with different uses. Although, I think the whole situation is unlikely, but if I was TLG, that is how I would do it. Personally, I am hoping for pan pipes. Musical instruments are severely lacking in Lego form so I'll take any that I can get. Edited October 29, 2015 by rodiziorobs Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 They actually have made that piece for Darth Maul's mechanical legs to attach to. The problem is, it naturally looks skeletal or mechanical in nature, so it doesn't work for organic forms. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I know we're already getting a queen for series 15 and she looks great so far from that image we saw, but im still hoping someday in a future series we get "Marie Antoinette" type minifigure with that new dress piece and a new big beehive type of hairpiece in white or grey. Robert8 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 This solves the question about the Queen's dress piece Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 So it seems to be 1x4 after all. It actually looks better than I thought it would. I'm just hoping for proper torso clutch. Quote
Captain Dee Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 The queen looks fantastic; she's a good match for the king and it's about time they reused that wonderful hair! I'm glad it's not a hair/crown combo like the king just because it's hard to do anything decorative with a hairy crown, unlike the old style (but I do like the CMF king's headgear, no question). Naturally the new dress looks good from the front, but I'm going to reserve final judgement until I've seen it in person. I suspect I have the biggest collection of the previous style printed dresses of anyone on EB, and I like the fact that the design was simple enough to be used in lots of different time periods. This design looks more specialized, but I suspect I'll buy a couple dozen to add to the collection, because the complete figure is just too good to pass up. But I'm not excited in the least with anything else in this thread. Maybe the complete series will have something else that interests me. If not, it shouldn't be too hard to feel that big dress piece through the packaging! Quote
BrickFit26 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 The queen really does look great. Im guessing that the back side of that dress piece is flat on the back side and doesn't have a kind of slope like the regular dress piece has? I can't really tell what she is holding in her hand, but could that possibly be her accesory? Quote
Robert8 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I am afraid of two peg legs... I hope you're wrong because that would look awful So it seems to be 1x4 after all. It actually looks better than I thought it would. Agree. Edited October 30, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
AmperZand Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I'm also not too keen on those faun legs. They look cheap... I believe the picture is of a prototype, not the finished product. ...and are also unarticulated. I'd rather have legs that looked right (i.e. shaped like goat legs) and functioned wrong (i.e. no articulation) than looked wrong (i.e. standard legs) but functioned right (i.e. articulated). That said, I can see why others would disagree. It would be impossible for example to sit a satyr with static legs down - and they are often portrayed in period paintings sitting or reclining. They're also not LEGO, and I'm personally a bit of a purist. Obviously from my previous post, I'm not a purist. But I understand the appeal of purism. Edited October 30, 2015 by AmperZand Quote
Robert8 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 I think the Queen has the 4 card suits printed on her dress Quote
obsidianheart Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I think the Queen has the 4 card suits printed on her dress I see Hearts and Diamonds on the dress, the spades and clubs are probably on the bottom trim of the cape.EDIT: Or on the probable Black Queen later on in a different series, seeing as how they like to do evil counterparts. x105Black Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 This solves the question about the Queen's dress piece Potentially, but the angle is a bit off, that curved line could continue behind her. Also, it's an artist's concept. I wouldn't imagine any of them to have arms the way they look in the drawing. But you may ultimately be right. A new piece could be good, but I'd just think it will look flat if done that way, and while I like the minifigure design in general I'd be less likely to purchase multiples if it was indeed a 1 x 4 skirt piece. I hope you're wrong because that would look awful It doesn't look that bad, and would look better with printing. I'd still prefer normal legs, and even better the unique new mold in the original sketch. Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I hope you're wrong because that would look awful Eek. Agreed. The hairpiece is cool enough to warrant a purchase already, IMO. Anything past that is added value. I think short legs would look better than regular legs, honestly, but I hate the lack of articulation. It's infuriating, really. So much so that I'd rather the normal legs, even if I DO think the short ones are more fitting. But the double peg-leg looks horrible. If it went that route, I'd replace them. Newly sculpted legs sure would be amazing though... Quote

Newly sculpted legs sure would be amazing though... That's the main reason I'd prefer the regular legs over short ones. Lack of articulation is the worst thing about short legs, drives me crazy. Now if they had articulated short legs, I'd prefer those over the normal ones, but the highest preference is definitely the new molds designed in the original sketch (and I think there's a consensus on that point). If they did the peg legs, I would hope for printing at least on the feet (rather than adding a black stud underneath). But yeah, it's not ideal of course. Edited October 30, 2015 by x105Black Quote
Borex Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I see nothing wrong with printed normal legs for the faun. Quote
x105Black Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I see nothing wrong with printed normal legs for the faun. I see nothing wrong with the idea, but there are other, better ways it could be done. Specifically, the legs everyone is hoping for from the original sketch: I think most would admit that a new leg mold like this would be more than welcome, and that while printed normal legs would be just fine (and expected), these would be a million times better. That said, I think I like the new headpiece mold even better than the sketch. Edited October 30, 2015 by x105Black Quote
Sven F Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 The queen's accessory is a party rattle in that image, because new year, that's obviously not what she'll come with. Quote
BrickOn Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I think the Queen has the 4 card suits printed on her dress You're right :-) but only diamonds and hearts around the bottom, soooo that makes a black queen likely too, yay!! Edited October 30, 2015 by BrickOn Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Well, the Classic King and Queen are sort of based on the playing card icons, so it makes sense. I'd love an evil Black Queen in the future. Quote
telaruhn Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It looks like the Queen isn't getting an holdable accessory, which is fine with me. The only thing I would expect her to have is a scepter or maybe a jewel. It also looks like she's also getting the two-part cape like the King, but the non-ermine is double sided (as in two different colors). Dark grey is kind of an odd color - maybe the other side is blue? Quote
x105Black Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I would imagine she comes with some sort of accessory. That picture really isn't much to go on when determining that. I think the cape is only grey on the inside as an artistic rendition of shadow. Quote

Makes sense. I don't remember any symbols on the Classic King. But his main colour is red, like S15 Queen. Also the symbols on Queen's dress are Hearts and Diamonds, both are red symbols. If we get an evil king and queen in the future, I expect the king to have no symbols(like Classic King) and the queen to have Spades and Clubs on her dress, both are black symbols. Quote

Captain Nemo Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Oooo! I missed so much! The Faun headpiece is just amazing! I want an army-size-worth and to immediately start building Narnia! So cool; now I just hope we get some new leg molds too. The shark dude is just spectacular, as is the queen. This wave is shaping up to be a very good one. Quote
