rodiziorobs Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 They actually have made that piece for Darth Maul's mechanical legs to attach to. The problem is, it naturally looks skeletal or mechanical in nature, so it doesn't work for organic forms. Really? I guess I knew about that piece but thought it was different. Why hasn't it been used anywhere else I wonder? I think it could be done in a way that doesn't look skeletal or mechanical, although evidently not.. Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) I don't know if anyone's pointed it out yet, but the Queen's new dress piece can easily be printed on both sides... Perhaps this is not a relevant feature of the Queen in this series, but it was shown on Macy and could feature in the speculative Franko-Austrian Queen or the Disney CMF line. Also, totally called it on the 1-4 thing. Still waiting official confirmation, but I think it's pretty clearly a 1-4 in that picture. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited October 31, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
BrickFit26 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Since November is practically here already, we should be getting more pics since around the first week of November last year we got some pictures for series 13. I can't wait to see series 15 Quote

I can't wait to see series 15 Well.... We already did Last year we got to see Unicorn Girl and Snake Charmer in a 2015 teaser pic in the LEGO Club Magazine, this year we got images of Shark Suit Guy, Clumsy Guy and the Queen in a 2016 teaser. Sadly, I don't think we'll get to see more until the official reveal in late November Edited October 31, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
telaruhn Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 While I doubt we'll get to see any more complete figures until the official reveal, we may get more part leaks from the factory. And maybe a list with the official names... Quote

Roebuck Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Weekly random '16 tidbit drop: We're getting a farmer and a pig, haven't heard anything about a sheep. I was really hoping for a new "minifig" sheep mould But a pig is also good, hopefully it is in a new colour or much better a new piglet mould Quote
AmperZand Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I think short legs would look better than regular legs, honestly, but I hate the lack of articulation. It's infuriating, really. So much so that I'd rather the normal legs, even if I DO think the short ones are more fitting. If you're willing to go non-purist, Brick Fortress ( http://www.brickfortress.com/ ) does good quality articulated short legs. I was really hoping for a new "minifig" sheep mould Again, if you're OK going non-purist, BrickForge ( https://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=18663&cat=594&page=1 ) does brown sheep. They used to do black ones and white ones but they seem to be out of stock of those colours. Quote

This is the bad side of LEGO being that mainstream. Quote

This is the bad side of LEGO being that mainstream. Neither Brick Fortress nor BrickForge are 3D 'printed'. They're both injection-moulded ABS, just as LEGO is - and their production quality is close or equal to TLG's. There are people who use 3D 'printing' to produce parts. But I'm not aware of any 3D 'printed' minifig parts that are up to LEGO quality standards at the same price point. Quote

The only good I can see coming from this is that it can show LEGO that there is a market for certain things, and hopefully inspire them to create their own version. I doubt this happens, at least not often, but if it did it would be an advantage. Quote

This actually happens all the time and many of LEGO's recent accessory developments can be found on sites like Brickforge (especially Brickforge, really, wow) a few years before LEGO makes them.Scooters, Cows, Meat Cleavers, Bottles, etc, etc... x105Black Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Well I'm not sure if they are indeed inspired by these other companies, but it does seem like it. For example, the crutches in this series could have been inspired by other crutches, or they could have been in the development pipeline for quite some time. It's hard to say, but I like to believe that they are seeing potential in the parts made by others. Quote
Jbricks Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Anyone notice that clumsy guy appears to have had people sign his leg cast? It's a nice detail, but detracts from reuseability in my opinion Quote
strangely Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Anyone notice that clumsy guy appears to have had people sign his leg cast? It's a nice detail, but detracts from reuseability in my opinion It's not that big of a problem. The printing can be removed yourself. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) It's not that big of a problem. The printing can be removed yourself. Well we shouldn't have to damage items to make them look untarnished. I agree with the original message. It drives me mad when Lego try to individualise specific figures, often for vanity purposes. For example, the mechanic and diner waitress having name tags. Any specific writing on the plaster cast will certainly spoil such a long-awaited figure for me. Sven F Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 and things like spiderwebs and lighting bolts printed on a hairpiece in an otherwise exclusive color. Yes, it's frustrating, and doesn't add any value to the figure. Quote

Robert8 Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 If you are looking for generic pieces, this is the wrong theme. The Minifigures are supposed to be COLLECTIBLE, so they have to be unique Personally, I'm glad they have exclusive printing and unique features but it could be mainly because I do nothing but display them in my shelves Quote
Sven F Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I think you are taking "collectible" too literally, Its a waste of the toy's potential. The whole idea is to offer infinitely diverse construction. You are of course free to do what you want. Some people collect cars even though they are meant as transportation, but I can't perceive any theme of LEGO as something with a primary purpose of simply obtaining and displaying or I might as well collect coins instead. Quote
strangely Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) I don't see how using Brasso is considered damaging it. The piece will literally look exactly the same, just without the writing. Anyways is the writing even legible? To me it looks like generic scribbles, which in that case I don't see a problem. Edited November 1, 2015 by strangely Quote
AmperZand Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Well I'm not sure if they are indeed inspired by these other companies, but it does seem like it. Indeed, it does. TLG once used a BrickForge helmet in a toy industry promotion because they didn't have their own ready, not even a prototype. That doesn't of course prove that they hadn't thought of the idea of that style of helmet before or independently of BF, but as BF's had been out for a few years before TLG's, it is suggestive. Quote
Robert8 Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Anyways is the writing even legible? To me it looks like generic scribbles, which in that case I don't see a problem. That's because you're seeing a drawing, not the actual minifigure. I think you are taking "collectible" too literally, Its a waste of the toy's potential. strangely Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 That's because you're seeing a drawing, not the actual minifigure. So anotherwords we don't know that the minifigure will actually even have writing on it. All we know is that a drawing of it had squiggles. Quote
