gedren_y Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The bear on the shield is grey, so it could be used with Sir Santis. I'd give this knight (I don't think the word 'scary' really applies) the Sir Kentis unicorn shield. Quote

8BrickMario Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hm...that Scary Knight's face seems to have promise. The Laser Robot's face looks like Lord Business's visor, so I'll need to see the rest on both faces to decide. Quote

Garmadon Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hmm, some pretty cool ones this series, but a good number of them are pretty plain... especially that robot - again *shudders* However, the Indian mother, Knight (a very cool suit!), Queen, and a few others are quite nice, and the skunk and flute are excellent accessories as well Looking forward to Whitefang's review pretty soon hopefully! AmperZand Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Kendoka: The Ninjago one was better. I don't get the katanas. Seriously. I reckon they're supposed to be bokken. I normally picture kendoka as dressed in black, but this CMF looks like he's mostly dark blue. That suits me as I'll probably give him a samurai helmet and katana and display him as a samurai or ronin. Does anyone here know if the kendoka is male or female? Or, put differently, I'm also looking forwards to Fangy's review Quote

Clone OPatra Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I see a lot of individual things in this series that I like - the wrestler's amazing mullet, the jewel thief's hair, the skunk - but then I remember how expensive these figures are now and I have to make choices. I don't want to pay 4 bucks if I just want a hair piece. The no brainer buys to me are the Satyr and Clumsy Guy - they've both got parts that might not be reused any time soon, and look good as whole figures while also having desirable parts (to me). I'll probably get the Farmer and the Queen too - the new pig print is cool and I generally like the farmer's prints/parts, even if they're a bit plain. I wish the Queen had an accessory - the king at least had a sword - but she's probably still worth picking up for the cool dress. I do like the look of the janitor, but he's not really necessary to me. Quote
x105Black Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I agree with the Gargoyle wings sentiment; while I'm fine with the feathery ones, bat-like ones are better. Actually, I was hoping for a feathery version of the Gargoyle wings. With the armor, that wouldn't have worked, but I'd still love a mold like that. Maybe better this way, since it looks like they would have been gold and I would prefer black, white, or grey. Loving the ballerina, although she is very white, I want to see her in the flesh before I decide completely on her. I hope we get one in black A Black Swan minifigure would be excellent. Hope to see one soon. Wow, the Queen's dress piece actually looks great! I agree, better than either a 1x4 or 2x4 piece! I can definitely see this piece being re-used in the Disney CMF series for a princess ball gown. So what are everyone's 3 favorite/least favorite? Top 3: Satyr, Shark Suit Guy, Scary Knight. Bottom 3: Ballerina, Clumsy Guy, Janitor. Farmer and Animal Control would have been last if it weren't for the animals. Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Top 3 - Shark Guy, Satyr, Clumsy Guy Bottom 3 - Astronaut, Animal Control, Farmer Quote
General Magma Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Regular legs on the Satyr? No, definitely not. First of all, it wouldn't make sense to depict the Satyr the way it's supposed to look on a sketch, only to turn around and give him regular legs after all in a theme for which new molds are produced so frequently, and secondly, you can pretty clearly see that they're new legs. The top parts of his legs are longer, and the lower parts are shorter. With normal legs, it's exactly the other way round. My top 3 is: 1. Green Knight (My fave, looks fantastic and great for armybuilding. Good to see a historically accurate robed knight. Might be the first figure I'm planning to get more than 5 of!) 2. Winged Warrior (Looks, pardon the pun, golden!) 3. Satyr (Awesome addition to the existing bunch of fantasy races! Love the new legs, might need a few of these.) I would add either the Astronaut or the Indian mother as a fourth. My bottom 3 is: 1. Animal Catcher (Skunk looks great, but I don't care much for the rest of the figure other than maybe the net piece.) 2. Shark Suit Guy (Looks like a fun addition to the range of animal costumes, and I quite like the look of it, but it just doesn't interest me at all.) 3. Ballerina (It's a quite nice looking figure, but not my thing and the least interesting to me of all.) All in all, great series, pleased to see a few figures that are useful for Castle, it also seems like they're partially for those who are let down by Nexo Knights and the temporary lack of "true castle" sets it has caused.. Edited December 3, 2015 by General Magma Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The feet are also clearly rounded like hooves. They're definitely a new pair of legs. I just want a good picture of them! Quote
Dorayaki Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Overall though in the first sight: Uhmmm..... an average series to me, not too bad compared to the Monsters. My dissapointment is that Satyr doesn't have a unique body color, despite how much I love this character. The Queen should be the star of the whole series, but more curios about how her skirt works. Very glad to see a Ballroom Dancer design (and I agree that a Black Swam rival would do a decent job. It's very difficult for me to fall in love with the Farmer. And the Animal Controller.... I THOUGHT that LEGO did introduce tons of new girls hairpieces these years, didn't they? I know the animals are the real stars, but not like LEGO couldn't do it better. Have we seen a black pig yet? Male because we already have 5 females - Ballerina, Animal Control Officer, Tribal Woman, Jewel Thief, and the Queen. Well I know it's a habitus to say so, but not having more girls wouldn't be a really good news. Considering that TLM had the most girls in that series. Edited December 3, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote
Karalora Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Before I go into this, I should mention I collect six "brackets" of CMF - Sci Fi, Warrior, Monster, Mythology, Hobbist (namely extreme sports or someone who does a form of martial arts or fighting) and Costume. My categories are: * Everyday Folks (modern-day people just doing their thing, but not necessarily their job--think Grandma, Bride, Sleepyhead) * Professionals (modern-day people doing their job) * Athletes (self-explanatory) * Historical Folks (people wearing historical or national costume) * Critter Costumes (self-explanatory) * Fantastic Characters (any fantasy, sci-fi, or mythological concepts--I lump them together because the genre boundaries are so fuzzy) * Entertainers (musicians and other performers) The only ones I don't make a point of snapping up are Professionals and Athletes, and even then if I get one I'll often keep it. Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 For CMF collecting, I focus on: * Sci-Fi: Aliens, robots, and sometimes astronauts * Fantasy: Magical characters, fairy tales, and Castle characters ** Mythology * Horror/Monsters However, I will usually pick up a unique or useful City figure like the Jewel Thief, Janitor, and Ballerina, and sometimes the odd novelty figure. I tend to avoid sports, though. So this is a pretty good series for me. Again, nothing I'm drooling over, but still some good figures to add to my collection. Quote
gedren_y Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 It is rare that I keep a figure as is, even if it's only a small change. I think I only kept Egyptian Queen and Spooky Girl as is so far. Parts galore here. Quote
Solarfall Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Awesome serie !!! Many interresting features, especially all those warriors Quote

8BrickMario Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Those are great! Okay, I think I've figured out my list of purchases. Satyr: Even if I didn't have all of the previous mythological characters, I'd still want him. Jewel Thief: Great hair, useful character. Classic Queen: Nice design, nice parts. May need three, as the family has a shared collection of England-themed figures and I want the parts as well as a full figure. Laser Robot: I can't say no, even if I wanted something better. Winged Warrior: This guy is just so majestic and cool. Good for my fantasy collection. Scary Knight: Depending on his face print, I may want two, but one will be good for parts. Janitor: I like him, and he'll be nice in one of my modulars. Ballerina: Don't know what to do with her, but she appeals to me in a way I can't explain. Shark Suit Guy: I wanted to pass on him, but he's grown on me. He's sort of cute, and has nice colors. Wrestler: Only one, for the hair and the cheapest way to get the trophy. Tribal Woman: Maybe one for the baby and another one of that hairpiece. So I think I might be getting most of them. I might get the Clumsy Guy and Animal Control for the character and skunk, but the poorly-designed crutches and the boring officer are making me hesitate. I have no use or interest for the Kendo Fighter, Astronaut, or Farmer. Quote
Mike S Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I must still be a kid because looking at that Satyr I am just as excited as when I was 9 opening a Lego set on Christmas day.... Queen is nice and hooray, finally the first official Lego baby! Quote

Blakstone Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 My top three: * - The Queen * - Satry * - The Bear Knight Hopefully, CMFs can keep the various medieval warriors coming. My bottom three: * - Shark suit guy * - Wrestling Champion * - Laser Robot Quote
gedren_y Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 That trophy will be in at least one Friends set next year, 41121 Adventure Camp Rafting, but this should be the cheapest unless a Bricklink store has no minimum purchase. Quote
