Unbenownst to Gandalf, Hector Barbossa ran a shop near the bridge of Khazad Dûm (in his spare time) - with a certain focus on fresh apples:

The kiosk was frequently visited by many a middle-earth tourist.

It lay conveniently close to the famous bridge...

If Gandalf had known...

Thanks everyone!

Let me answer a few replies:

Humorous concept excellently built. I like how the lettering is bent.

Yes, Barbossa puts more focus on drinks and apples

Strange that PJ cut this from the movies!

Gandalf made him cut the scene

It's silly, and I like it

Exactly what it was meant to be

I don't like it. Nope. Not one bit. There aren't nearly enough movie tie-ins, or enough rocks, or enough food (apples? where?) or even a decent variety of minifigs, or... or...

*wink wink*

Quite bad, isn't it?

And where is the monkey?

Prior sarcasm aside, the contrast between the different greys and browns really makes the subject stand out well. It's an interesting setting, with or without the film tie-ins.

Ah, you noticed the "old dark grey" and "new dark grey".

It was a deliberate decision (i.e. not dictated by lack of bricks, as it is often the case) to make the rocks look "better".

The SNOT technique applied here and there turned out to be almost invisible...

And then I changed my usual lighting approach in order to have decent shadows.

(probably at the cost of visibility of the dartboard behind Tauriel...)

That looks like Gandalf the White with Saruman's beard.

Actually it is Gandalf the white I was confused by that earlier on Bricklink. Saruman is different, slightly.

Ooops, I made a slight mistake: I meant to place Saruman in front of the kiosk.

As it turns out I got him mixed up with Gandalf the White... (which would contradict my introductory line) :cry_sad:

I was wondering how Gandalf could be there and not know about it. Amnesia? :)

Yes, you are right - sorry for Gandalf's confusion

As people above me commented, the dark grey and bley blending was a great idea (accident or not).

Thanks! (Purpose)
