August 11, 2024Aug 11 I don’t know if Santa’s Visit set is counted as “winter fantasy” like Elf Clubhouse. But I welcome another fantasy Winter Village set!!
August 12, 2024Aug 12 I feel like they could have some fun with a mail sorting function or true play feature in a post office that the original was lacking. Also, the original is so old now, that a great many current collectors don't have it, and it's the kind of thing that will be popular. At this piece count, I wonder if it will be a post office combined with a workshop? That would feel nice.
August 14, 2024Aug 14 If we are indeed getting a Santa's Post Office, I guess that's a decent compromise for all the people that weren't collecting the WV line when the original PO came out, and those of us who have the original and don't want another PO. I only hope that instead of giving us Santa's Bake Shop in a couple years, we instead get that Sweet Shoppe that we should've had by now. Looking back around this time last year, maybe we'll see a leaked image in the next week or so? I'm very curious how this set is going to look.
August 14, 2024Aug 14 we had the original cotage several years ago and now we had. Santa’s Visit set in 2021 (it is my first WV set ever nd I love it). I skip Holiday Main Street becuase it doesn’t appeal me. My aunt gifted me Alpine Lodge and it’s not built yet. Anyways, I missed the original post office years ago, if we get competely different post office that is set in North Pole, I’m totally fine wiht it. :) it’s pretty nice to have some more. North Poe town. I mssed out on both Santa’s Workshop and Elf Clubhouse, oh well…
August 15, 2024Aug 15 If the Post Office rumour is true (and I hope it is) then I'm retroactively surprised that the Alpine Lodge didn't include a postbox. If it had then we would have had a long run of recent sets with postboxes (from Santa's Visit onwards) ready to be serviced by a Post Office and delivery truck. I'd love it if an updated Post Office found a way to include the iconic green roofs and bow window from the original.
August 24, 2024Aug 24 They're keeping tighter clamps on things this year. Last year, we already had blurry photos by now

Last year, we already had blurry photos by now I am waiting with high expectations for the 40746 Santa Delivery Truck, even more than the 10339. It seems weird not to have in photos in antecipation. Part of the fun is the blurry photos and I feel like a kid that was not given a lollipop :P
August 28, 2024Aug 28 I found pictures of the Poinsettia set, which is being released on October 1st. Hopefully photos of the WV set and Santa's Delivery Truck won't be too far behind.

I grew up in Arizona, our church would be lined with them the week of Christmas, and then at the Christmas Eve service you could take one home with you to have Christmas morning.
August 29, 2024Aug 29 It's a pretty flower in person, and my wife likes the looks of the set quite a bit. Looks like I'll be picking up one to build for the holiday.

Same here. My church in PA has Christmas Eve service wiht those Christmas flowers. I didn’t know the flower’s actual name - my family calls it “Christmas flower” rather than spelling out the actual name in sign language.
August 29, 2024Aug 29 Poinsettia and wreath is up at the website, shouldn't be long now! Side note: that's four Christmas decoration type sets this year, got to be a record? Also, the wreath is *gorgeous*. But it better hold together better than the last one or for the first time in my life I'd be forced to break out the kraggle...
August 29, 2024Aug 29 I don't think I'd seen the wreath before. It looks great, but also feels expensive. That might be unfair, as it is bigger than the previous one.
September 1, 2024Sep 1 40746 Santa's delivery truck photo is out. It's nice to get a smaller set that's not a GWP, but I don't love it. I think it's the coloring that puts me off, which is fine as it's an easy fix. It's got red, green, dark green, and tan. I suspect that if the green was replaced with red then it would look much better. But I also get that it's a Santa set, rather than real world, so they have to use those colors. It has a 'Post' logo sticker on the side too, perhaps pointing further towards the hot air balloon having a Post Office with it.
September 1, 2024Sep 1 I think the truck seems sort of old school? In a not great way. Like something that might have been a GWP ten years ago. I don't love it. To me it seems sort of unfished. Like the parts doesn't quite go together.
September 2, 2024Sep 2 It looks to me like a bin build (ie, build something out of just what you got in the bin). Like the colors and parts were chosen not by what would make a good set, but by what was available. Nothing seems intentional or cohesive. For example, make the front and back fenders the same color (either one) would be a start towards something that looks balanced. What's with the gold tile on the back fender? The front being mostly curves while the back is basically just a box also feels unbalanced. It's just clunky. Small seasonal builds can be pretty hit or miss with Lego sometimes. Sadly, this one is pretty much a miss.

It's very reminiscent of the original Post Office van and the train station bus, and I can understand the desire to build something similar so that there is continuity. But it might also suffer from trying to be too many things in such a small model. And, unlike it's predecessors, the random colour scheme just doesn't seem to reflect it very well. Cutting down some of the colours might really help. 3 minutes ago, sporadic said: It looks to me like a bin build (ie, build something out of just what you got in the bin). September 2, 2024Sep 2 For me it's the tan bricks that don't really gel with the other colours, but the more I look at it the more I appreciate the kookiness of the design. I think it'll look better once the colourful presents are stacked on top -- it needs that chaotic colour pop to tie all the other colours together.
September 2, 2024Sep 2 I like the shape/curves of the vehicle, but I agree the the combination of colors may be a bit off-putting. I wonder if the color scheme won't make more sense once we see Santa's Post Office. It wouldn't surprise me if this truck was initially developed as part of this year's WV set, but was turned into its own set in order to keep piece count and cost down. Instead of $100 and 1500ish pieces, if this truck were in the set, the new WV set probably becomes $120 and 1650-1700 pieces. So, I like this strategy - keep the main set around $100, and then give us a smaller, adjunctive set to buy separately if we so desire. I have a feeling that we might need to get used to this color scheme real quick - particularly in the form of a hot air balloon. Edited September 2, 2024Sep 2 by Arstotle
