RichardGoring Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 While I certainly shan't @Robert8 for the cruel and unusual views on the latest winter village set and GWP, I will say that I like them both and they go nicely together. Edit: oops. Quote

Turns out there are some bricks for each day included after all. And at least 2 minifigures from what I could see in the bags. But nothing exclusive that couldn't be re-bricked.https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/the-2023-lego-employee-christmas-gift-is-a-dots-inspired-gingerbread-house-advent-calendar/ Quote

The Stud Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I didn't get around to doing my full Winter Village setup this year but I did get around to doing the Lodge set, which I really enjoyed honestly. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion here based on some of the comments up above? It honestly might be my favorite Winter Village set from the three I own (I started collecting them annually in 2021 with Santa's Visit) and I really enjoyed the experience of putting it together and the quality of each part of the build. I don't have it (yet) , but I think it's a great set that works with recent ski sets etc, sometimes not being too christmas focused is good (40499: Santa's Sleigh and 40573: Christmas Tree are also still available) , but I can also understand if people dislike the generic nature of it, or unfamliar if not visited the alps etc. Edited December 19, 2023 by TeriXeri Quote

Murdoch17 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 (edited) Wow. It's only February and we're getting info on sets for Christmas-time? What year is this again - 2011-ish? Edited February 2, 2024 by Murdoch17 Quote
Arstotle Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 Agreed. I'm still very happy with the beautiful Lodge set and the great Carriage GWP that we received this year. It's almost gilding the lily to think about the 2024 set already - but I am happy to see that it looks to be a sizable set again. If I'm really honest, and really greedy, I'll say that I'm hoping the 2024 employee gift will be another Star Wars themed set, as they're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the line this year. With the rumors of the Dark Millennium Falcon set this year, would they possibly do a holiday-colored Millennium Falcon to go along with the X-Wing from 2019? Quote
Lion King Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Won’t happen for Star Waars when it one’s to Winter Village theme…. My wish is probably in a land of unlikeliness but I hope we gonna get a 32x16 modular building set that can fit into Modular Building Collection. Like Anitque Toy Store, Sweet Shop, etc. Anyways, I’m quite surprised that we get info that earlyyyyyyy. Quote
Arstotle Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 No, they'll never do a Star Wars ship with the primary Winter Village set - that wouldn't make any sense. I mean with the employee gift that's given to certain Lego employees at the end of every year. Check out set 4002019. I'm wondering if they'll do a Falcon similar to that for the employee gift this year. As for the idea of a modular, if the leaked info is correct, it doesn't seem like there's enough pieces for a modular - not that I ever expect them to do a modular for the WV set. I'll be very happy if we get a set similar to the quality of the Lodge. Quote

Also, a WV modular would eat into profits of a regular modular (if they even released one that year) and you would also make both WV and modular fans unhappy with it fitting into neither product collection. If you think the backlash for the Toy Shop re-release was bad, this would be WAY worse! So, yeah: not gonna happen, sorry! Edited February 4, 2024 by Murdoch17 Quote
RichardGoring Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I wouldn't want it to be modular either. The Winter Village sets are great to build and play with as a family. The open back style really encourages play. And it means you can see the delightful details on a cozy interior of it's on display anywhere other than backed up against a wall. Not to mention that a modular style would probably double the cost. Quote
Lion King Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Honeslty, I am not suprised that no one wants Winer Village to be Modular Building collection. I mean… Sure I’m in a minority. I would love to add Anitque Toy Store, Post Office, and Sweet Shop. Wiht interchange decorations to be added Modular City. I don’t think it would double the cost? Business is not my est language. Again, it’s still in the land of un likeness. Quote
Robert8 Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) Now with Notre Dame happening, I do wonder if that opens the door for a little chapel as a Winter Village set That would be a delight Edited February 5, 2024 by Robert8 Quote
jonwil Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I don't think so. Its clear that they are doing "Notre Dame" as a piece of architecture rather than as a religious building, same as how they did the Vegas casinos as architecture rather than places to gamble. Quote
Arstotle Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I agree - I doubt that we'll get a chapel this year, but this is a real change for Lego. It's one thing to put a casino in a micro-build skyline, but quite something else to do a 4000+ piece set of a church. If Notre Dame goes over well (and I'll be shocked if it doesn't), then maybe it will pave the way for further changes in strategy by Lego, and maybe that will filter down to the WV line in several years. On the other hand, if Notre Dame is released with some excuse that a portion of the profits are going towards the restoration of the cathedral, then I doubt we'll see another religious building in the near future.
