It it 1 hot air balloon or a carousel with "hot air balloons"?

I agree. I expect it being a carousel.

That's fair, and certainly makes more sense. If true, one might assume we're in for several different winter carnival ride sets for the next few cycles?

Would be a quite strange decision if the hot air ballon turns out to be just a carousel. There are so many things they could have used that would better fit the theme if they would make an other ride attraction. So a ballon flying above a winterly landscape would make more sense to me. Whether the ground will be a house, or maybe some trees and a small log cabin, we will see. I would prefer the latter.

I agree, and we already have a carousel and a Christmas Market, so I'm not sure what it would add. A ballon-ride over a winter wonderland sounds like a lovely addition.

So - my safe bet is that there will be a building and/or natural scene along with hot-air balloon.

I guess no leak is 100% certain, but the original leak from Brick Clicker already says the set will "include a large side building," as well as a mailbox and a Christmas tree. So I don't know if a bookmaker would agree to take a bet this safe, ha.

We can agree to disagree, but I'm just gonna point out that the theme is called Winter Village, after all.... wintery buildings with Christmas decorations are kinda the point.

I'm pretty sure the Winter Village line has always drawn inspiration from traditional Christmas putzes, and the two big manufacturers of ready-made buildings (Department 56 and Lemax) both have a hot air balloon as one of their products. So, adding a hot air balloon to a wintry Christmas scene has some precedence.

I just hope the balloon is BIG.

I did ay “and/or”.. But yes, he does say “large building”. It sounds like it’s a post office to me - mailbox will be included in it while we will have Santa’s delivery truck in a separable set.

I doubt hot-air balloon will be BIG.

Certainly, this set could still be anything.  I watch Brick Clicker pretty religiously, and once in a while he does get some bad initial info on an upcoming set.

That said, assuming this is indeed a hot air balloon, it seems like we could have several options for the building that it comes with.  One possibility might be just another house, and Lego could set up a scene with the people who live in the house watching the people in the balloon float by.  That could explain a mailbox out front, as well as the mandatory Christmas tree in the set.  I also wonder if they might not go with a building in which to store the balloon when it's not in use - maybe even a barn?  If it were done right, I could easily envision a barn that could do double duty and be used to house the reindeer.  With the rumor that there will be a smaller set of Santa's Delivery Truck (or something along those lines), I wonder if there won't be a more direct Santa tie-in with this set.

I'm going to guess (or hope) that the balloon is more of a side build, and the majority of the piece count goes towards a sizeable building.

I really wonder how big of a build the hot air balloon itself will be, and how many minifigs can fit in the basket.

I would guess it will be able to hold maximum two figures, in the end it is a winter vilage set and as such would have to be in scale with all the other buildings. And as mentiones before, I would expect that the ballon is flying over some building, where it is attached to - or a tree if they go for a log cabin in a winterly forest, which would still be my favourite version. Though, if they want to include it in the village, probably some other building is more likely to happen.

I expect it to be about the size of the Friends and Princesses baloons in 41097 and 43216, quite possiby manned by Santa and packed with presents. That would leave plenty of pieces for a sizable building.

I think flying over a village with presents is a great concept! Something different compared to the previous years.

I think Lego has a steep mountain to climb with this concept IMHO because if they are not successful in making a great build or vignette, I fear that having this balloon will take piece count away from a potentially better building. But will hold judgement until reveal date.

The hot air balloons there are not bad. I would go for the smaller basket so that there is more piece count for the building. LOL

Agreed, i feel that’s about realistic about the size of hot air balloon. Usually, winter village sets have 4 or 5 minifigures, so I feel hot air balloon will only bring one or two minifigures.

It certainly sounds like most of us are hoping for a relatively small hot air balloon, akin to what has been seen in other sets.  I'm hoping that, while it's small, it will be very nicely decorated - maybe even some sort of printing on the balloon itself?

To me, the big question is what kind of building we're going to get with the balloon.  I think there are lots of possibilities, and while this wouldn't be my favorite choice, I still wonder if we're ever going to see a couple more buildings like we had in the Main Street set, with the goal of better developing a "downtown" area of the village.  If they were to do this, I think it would make most sense to do it while the Main Street set is still available for sale.  It would probably also boost sales of the Holiday Main Street set, which I have to believe has sold poorly compared to other recent WV sets - particularly last year's set.

I agree with @Arstotle.

A building in downton WV sounds likely - e. g. a candy shop or a town hall (like I mentioned in my previous post). Since it's the 15th birthday of WV, I could very well see the town hall. (Like the one in Town Plan from 2008, this one could be built in a similar way - so people could decide by their own whether it is a church or a town hall for them.)

Speaking of printing, @Arstotle…. I don’t know if they will do printing for balloon pieces? I don’t have Holiday Main Street set but I do have Santa’s Visit and Alpine Lodge (the latter isn’t built at the moment). Santa’s Vsiit has a few stickers but I don’t know if there are stickers for both Holiday Main Street and Alpine Lodge sets.

I’m hoping the balloon pieces would be printed rather than stickers….

I've been collecting this line from the beginning, and I can't remember if they've ever done printed pieces in a WV set.  In the early sets, particularly the bakery and post office, I remember a sign that hung off the building that indicated what the business is.  I can't recall if the bakery and post office were stickers or printed pieces...but I remember that was one of the bigger changes when they re-released the original toy store set.  The first toy store set, IIRC, just had a blank white plate hanging for a sign, but in the re-release they either had a sticker for that piece, or the sign was printed.

But beyond those signs, the only printed pieces I can think of would be cookies or otherwise common pieces like that.  But I 100% agree with @Lion King that I would prefer printing on the balloon instead of some huge stickers.

I don't know...the more I think about it, the more I kinda like the idea of a hot air balloon floating over a couple downtown buildings.  I could live with that - and then I'm happy to never have any more downtown-type buildings again in this line.

Also, I second @Klaus-Dieter - I would love to see something special for the 15th anniversary of this line.

@Arstotle, I agree with you on small, printed common pieces like cookies. I don’t think they would do printing for big pieces like balloon pieces. I could not remember if there is any sticker other than a family poraiit in Santa’s Visit cottage set. I still have it on display so I will check it later this week. But yes, I do prefer printing!

I didn’t think the balloon pieces could be printed, but then earlier today we saw the Shadow Bust, which uses a printed balloon piece to form the curve of Shadow’s head. If they made a machine that could print that piece for him, we could see it be repurposed for printing this set. That might even be why they chose to make a hot air balloon this year.

According to rumours, this year’s set will be a Santa’s Post Office (with hot air balloon).

Winter Village 2024
Gossip!!!
🎅📮
Hot air balloon travel will not be the main theme of this year's Winter Village set!
According to rumors, this year we will be able to build Santa's post office and as an accessory we will also receive a hot air balloon in the set.
The set will be released in October for $100 and 1,440 pieces. will consist of elements.

Speaking of the other two October Christmas sets: which one of 10340 and 10370 is the Christmas Wreath, and which one is the Poinsettia?

On https://www.instagram.com/lego_minecraft_goat/, it is said that 10340 is the wreath and 10370 is the poinsettia, but according to one of @Brick Clicker’s videos, 10340 is the poinsettia and 10370 is the wreath. In my logic, the former one could be right because 10368 and 10369 are already released Botanical Collection sets, and I think the poinsettia would also be Botanical Collection and the wreath is not.

Well, it has been 4 years since the Elf Clubhouse, so a new Santa-centric set is not not out of the question.  And, that would pair well with the Santa's Delivery Truck.

Thanks for the news, @BricksBricksBricks! 🙂

Since I'm absolutely no winter fantasy fan, this is bad news for me. :hmpf_bad:

I hoped so much for a building for the center of WV. It's now fifteen years of WV and we still have only four different shops (although there could and should be much more: candy shop, book store, grocery, gas station, sports shop, ...).

You’re welcome!

By the way, the Winter Village set will be revealed on 24 September.

Maybe they should alternate each year between a Santa-set and and an actual village set?
