While arranging my WV sets for my WV display, I find that to me, the WV cottage and the WV Carousel seem out of scale with the rest of the buildings and other things like the bench areas, the gazebo and the skate rink from the bakery. Even out of scale with the Christmas tree that came with the Toy Shop.

There is not much that I can see that can be done about the carousel, but I may try to MOD the cottage to make it smaller.

Has anyone else modded the cottage to make more in scale?

Would you be willing to share photos you have for a kick-start with mine?

Thanks,

Andy D

I agree. I haven't tried that yet, but I have also considered it. I like more consistency with scale, even within LEGO. The rest of the Winter Village line is a great size I think, but that cottage really made it huge. And since the carousel is a disjointed set, it doesn't seem as large/full as it could be.

Well, the cottage was intended to be family home hence the size, though I'm hoping for more village buildings coming back next year......but my son would love to have Santa's Workshop.....loves Christmas themed stuff more than anything else.

There are so many buildings they haven't done yet, but us AFOL's have come up them instead........maybe we should be the design teams at Lego ?

Actually, I've modded things out the other way. My WV set-up always starts with trains and a train station that I MOC'd a few years back, so for me it always the official sets that seemed a little small. I liked that the cottage fit right in without needing to be padded, extended or otherwise built out so that it didn't look like a glorified outhouse for the crew of the Emerald Night.

I haven't had time to put together Santa's Workshop yet so I don't have a good sense as to how that one will fit for scale, but I've found that padding the WV designs to make them a little taller and/or a little wider is often easier than trying to shrink them (plus it's a good excuse to buy two copies to make sure you have the right parts in the right colors :sweet: ).

^ Just saw that, it is a bit odd was hoping for a train or station. Wonder if it will be like the 2009 one or something new?

Hopefully they are going back to the style of builds used at the beginning of this theme! These were proper winter village, whereas this years Santa Workshop kind of detracted from this!

Thank you very much for this information, CM4Sci! :classic:

I'm really diappointed that there is going to be another toy shop! :hmpf_bad:

I was counting on a candy shop, a grocery or a gas station. Plus apart from these three there are so many ideas for great new Winter sets (cafe, apothecary, town hall, a new PF winter train, train station, piste with ski lift, winter sports shop, hotel, ...) that it's really a shame that TLG only redesigns old sets instead of giving us new ones. The winter family house was definately the best set. But after that the Winter theme really went down. The winter market wasn't that a burner. And Santa's workshop is definately that sort of citchy that I haven't been buying it and even aren't going to buy it anywhen in the future. If now the new Toy Shop wouldn't offer something completely new (which I can't imagine), then I probably won't buy this set, too, plus the Winter series would be dead for me (after some glorious years til included 2012)!

Hmm, I'm not happy getting another Winter Toy Shop, too. It really seems like they are running out of ideas :( .

Nonetheless I'm waiting for pictures, maybe TLG can surprise us :classic:

There are probably many people who missed out on the original WV Toy Shop, and LEGO would most likely make a new Toy Shop different from the original and nothing says Christmas like a Toy Shop, so.... I would not mind a new Toy Shop.

Just MHO, YMMV...

I find the idea of another toy shop strange too, not only because we have the old one but because they just released a toy shop set as part of the creator theme.

Around this time last year someone found the leaked picture of Santa's Workshop. So has anyone gotten a wind of the new toy shop? I am really looking forward to it since it is a great set/concept for starting a WV collection like the first toy shop has been for earlier adopters.

Can anyone tell me what's 'wrong' with the WV Market? This set doesn't seem to be as popular as the other WV sets.

There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but in the scheme of the whole village it was a little disappointing to get a collection of smaller builds rather than a larger building when the village already has a lot of small builds scattered around.

It funny because I do really hate it when Lego waste a large set on lots of small builds but I really like this set, I think its because a Christmas market is just like this lots of small shop so Lego could really help it. I would love to see a train added to this line, I know there was one a long time ago.

I really hope its not a rehash since the Toy Shop is my least favorite. A common theme with these Creator Expert items though, is that they are basically a year in review or a preview for things to come, using all new techniques and pieces either recently introduced over the year or new for the set itself.

But I guess we'll find out whether or not its the old set pretty soon. I just hope its affordable and not $99.

Most of all though, I cannot wait to see the Christmas promos for the year. Those are very exciting.

im just happy to get another building. even if its a toy shop, it can be repurposed easily enough. the toys can go to santas workshop or underneath the tree.

just a small slip in... i got changing seasons and it looks great in the winter theme. they include enough white pieces to completely cover the green baseplate. looking forward to adding it to the village.

Well, this is really something. In September VIP members can get early access to the new WInter Village set. Seems like it won't be a rehash as it says, "NEW" on the calendar.

I swear, it comes earlier and earlier each year. (Not that I'm complaining as I love Christmas but starting the celebration more than a month before Halloween is a tad crazy.)

No picture just says it on the September store calendar:

Can't wait to see what the new set looks like. Like most of you I also would like something different than a toy shop. Until then, I think I'll pick up Changing Seasons like was

suggested.
