BenA Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) The red car at the end could pass for a small passenger car. Cabooses tend to have higher cupola windows. You could be on to something there. The 'saloon doors' behind the conductor suggest easy access for passengers getting on and off. It's still a bit small though - but then it's not really trying to be realistically accurate! The more I look at it, the more I like it. Or maybe the tree flat car will become a "float" for them to stand. Haha, yes! We'll have to dig out all our Lego hats and scarves because it could get a bit chilly! Edited August 8, 2016 by BenA Quote

Withacee Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I read some people find the train somewhat small. I love the design. but my problem is, that it looks huge! This set will dwarf most of the official WV houses. That engine chimney looks to be at least 3,5 to 4 minifigs high! For our village, we'd like something smaller, like the brilliant design of dr_spock: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103102 Anyway, 10254 looks great (if that's the real picture), and it will still look nice driving around the Christmas tree, so no chance of NOT buying it. But I doubt we will ever incorporate it in our village. Quote
LegoAndDisney Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 @Withacee How do we know it's huge? Or is that just judging off the pictures? Quote
Benny benny BENNY Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 What days do Lego put out their press releases ? when they asked for it to be taken down i thought the release might come monday. I only got into the Winter Village sets last year buying the re-release of the toy shop for the family to build, so i;m glad their re-releaseing the previous sets. I think it looks good and hopefully will be PF compatable so we can have it whizzing round Quote
jorbgamer Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Any word on the holiday promo sets for 2016? I know there was a rumor for a snow globe, but was curious if there would be any small additions to the WV. Quote
Brickthusiast Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Any word on the holiday promo sets for 2016? I know there was a rumor for a snow globe, but was curious if there would be any small additions to the WV. Snow globe is comming, there are even instructions available so it's just a matter of LEGO releasing it. As for the other promo, I really wish they are going to do a small promo to compliment the train or WV in general but I think we'll end up with something else. Quote
Withacee Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 @Withacee How do we know it's huge? Or is that just judging off the pictures? Yes, looking at the pics, I estimated 3 to 4 minifigs high for the chimney. Mind you, I don't have a great eye for these things, but I don't think I'm far off. Quote
Blackpool Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Yes, looking at the pics, I estimated 3 to 4 minifigs high for the chimney. Mind you, I don't have a great eye for these things, but I don't think I'm far off. Looks like 3-3.5 to me as well but I think that's actually ok for the winter village scale. Any smaller and it starts to look like the train from last year and obviously you don't want it much bigger. I'm excited to have a train that I don't have to explain as a "ride for kids" like last years or the emerald express. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 With this year's Winter Train I then hope that in 2017 we will finally get a new and very well designed building. Hopefully a train station or a candy shop. Klaus-Dieter Quote
CrispyBassist Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Looking at the leaked pic a bit more (found it again on Google) I noticed the car with the tree and presents uses the Technic train wheels (part 55423) instead of the typical metal-axled wheels (2878). This probably means at one of the axles has a gear on it, I'm guessing to make the miniature train on the car rotate around the tree (or make the whole tree-train assembly spin) while the big train moves! Quote
BrickJagger Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I like the train a lot. It looks like it'll be in scale with the other buildings, and it has plenty of detail and side builds. The train looks like a remake of the original train only smaller, no passanger waggon, way smaller. So I can skip it this year. So... can we speculate now what the 2017 set will be? I *heard* its a candy shop. This is why it's hard sometimes to go on EB. We've been waiting for this set for a year, it was just unveiled and you're already trying to move people into speculation about next year? Quote
finish-last Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Well actually I posted it while the discussion about the train was ongoing in its thread before it got deleted. Since this is the rumours and discussion place... But OK, just send me a pm after you bought it, I'll bring up the 2017 question the next day. Quote
Blackpool Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I actually thought the sarcastic comment about a candy shop was rather funny. Who can forget the endless speculation of last year only to get another toy shop...smh Hoping the train turns out better than you think finish-last. Who knows? It might look great in your village Quote
alsielou Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The train does look smaller than I had hoped, and I am disappointed that it doesn't have a passenger car, but other than it looks gorgeous - perfect fit for the winter village!! I will be getting it for sure - and then I will spend my time attempting to make my own passenger car. Can't be too difficult right?!? Quote
SFmuscle73 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Can anyone figure out if the women with the brown hair sitting on the bench has a new or reused torso from other sets? Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Can anyone figure out if the women with the brown hair sitting on the bench has a new or reused torso from other sets? It's Penguin's torso from the DC Super Heroes Penguin Attack set from 2014 Quote
Blackpool Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Are you sure that's a woman? The neck tie is throwing me off and making me think magician Quote
Rick Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Since this is the rumours and discussion place... Rumours and baseless speculation are two different things. Quote
finish-last Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Well Rick, you know how this topic started right? I give you a hint: So far in the past years, we've seen in a Christmas Winter Village: *Toy Shop *Winter Bakery *Post Office What else would you like to see in the future for the Winter Village? My prediction is it's going to be a church or a simple village home. What is your prediction? Does this qualify as a rumour or baseless speculation? Anyway I want that damn candy shop... Hmmmm, well I'm unsure. Really. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Are you sure that's a woman? The neck tie is throwing me off and making me think magician It could also be Charles Dickens.... Quote

Based on a picture of the back of the box it looks like you are right. The designer video shows that the entire train spins.
