parsom Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Do I need all this power function parts (8879, 8884, 88000, 88002) to motorize it? Or maybe some of them aren't necessary? Quote

Cwetqo Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I think 88000 is bold because you can exchange it with 8878 (then you can leave out the 8879 and 8884 too, if you want it just to run at constant speed). Quote
parsom Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I already know the answer - parallel discussion is on the trains forum. Quote
Blackpool Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 It could also be Charles Dickens.... Turns out its just a grandma with a neck tie.. Quote

Since this is the rumours and discussion place... But OK, just send me a pm after you bought it, I'll bring up the 2017 question the next day. Ah, I'm pretty late for that... but it's never too late I suppose. I'm all in for the idea to have a train station this year, well actually I'm all in for any idea, as long as it's not a toy shop. Found this one here on "ideas", that would be a good start I think: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/163876 But I would be "ok" with this one too: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/165844 ;o) Quote

A Winter Village train station could also come with a holiday trolley, something so the station would not be "train-less". That or a steam tram maybe. Edited July 21, 2017 by Digger of Bricks Quote
SquareBricks Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Any updated 2017 rumors? I can't seem to find any mentions in any dark corners of the internet... Quote

kokkie20 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 What i heard (Got no source, only trough a facebook group where the group advertise cheap deals) is that they think it will be a train station. Tough like i said, have no source but hoping it will be as it will be a nice add-on to the winter village :) Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 It would make sense since the last set was a train. Such a set will do well as long as the ability to buy the train remains. If it is a station, perhaps it is the North Pole Depot? Quote
kokkie20 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 What i heard (like i said got sadly no source) is that the train returns in September? Hopefully with the new set to... Same with the advent calendars :) Quote
finishlast Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Over at the brickset forums someone postet: I heard that Marcos worked on this year's Christmas set, describing it as 'big.' Whatever that might mean.... Quote

Whatever that might mean.... Big is not always better! That's what's wrong with the WV Cottage and the WV Market Carousel, too big and do not work well with the original models... like the Toy Shop, Bakery and Post Office. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D Quote

I mean: If not this year, then it would take til the year after a next possible winter train to get a WV train station. But perhaps we are completely wrong and TLG won't release a train station but - due to "big" - some sort of small town place with two buildings? (That would be really cool!) Quote
Blackpool Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) A train station would make a ton of sense. Obviously it makes sense with the release of last year's train. It makes even more sense when you consider that the train will be available for sale again this year and TLG would likely sell more trains to go with a train station. That being said, maybe it makes too much sense? Every time I try and figure out what a set will be based on marketing and sales it seems TLG go a different direction lol Edited July 20, 2017 by Blackpool Quote
finishlast Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Big.... mmmh, oh I got it! It's a set including the remake of the backery and post office. Do we know the setnumber yet? Quote
legocruncher Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 What if the small Christmas sets from 2015 train and gingerbread house were clues to what is coming we had a big train now we just need a gingerbread house and we have a theory for 2018 nutcracker Quote

Here is a theory I proposed on @peterab's Future Train sets speculation thread about that and how I think it is entied to the lack of a succeeding Creator Expert train set. Quote
legocruncher Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 What if they do a gingerbread house beacause of the Lego ideas project that didn't pass review but copied the idea anyway? Quote

Well, Lego has followed up rejected projects with similar such sets elsewhere, the 2014 UCS Sandcrawler and 2015 UCS Helicarrier being examples of that it seems. And for that matter, many Dimensions packs had been based off of licenses that had rejected projects tied to them. So I guess that could make such a set a possibility for the Winter Village series. Hmmm, I guess this is what he was speaking about in this designer video. In this video, go to 17:45 to hear the bit about the large Christmas model that is being designed. He actually says that the model will be out in December. So I don't think he is referring to a Winter Village model. I think it is some other theme that will just happen to be released in December. That's probably most likely the case, since Winter Village exclusives aren't released that late in the year. Someone initially posted that video on the future DC speculation thread, hypothesising that Marcos is speaking of either a DC or TLBM D2C @just2good has spoken of for next year. Quote
