dho7622u Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I believe the next set will be a music store. The one action that is not covered yet is singing, and a music store would give us all the tools to make a choir without the religious twist. I do not think a house is in the future since it is not part of the "town square" scene they are creating. They could add another skating area which would allow us to expand the rink size as well. I completely agree! david Quote
soundwave_sw Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I completely agree! david Not true. The toy shop came with a pair of singing minifigs with song books and the Post office came with 2 musicians so the music componant has already been included. Quote
wonderpuddle Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I'd love to see a pub myself, but I'm going to guess we will see a classic movie theatre. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I'd love to see a pub myself, but I'm going to guess we will see a classic movie theatre. Bearing in mind the scale/size of the winter village buildings theme, would this theatre not be a bit small or or out of scale with rest of the buildings if made to accomodate many minifigures? Quote

Fair point. I guess I was just imagining a building front, and not an entire theatre with seats on the inside. Quote
vynsane Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 (edited) I realize this topic got a bit stale, but I wanted to throw in my predictions and/or wishes... a fair number of them are quite similar to previous posts. Winter Village Ski Lodge (or Chalet) - An A-Frame building would add a bit of variation to the collection. Perhaps with an additional ice-fishing shed in a pond as an 'accessory' building. Winter Village Sports Shop - Featuring skis, skates, snowshoes, coats, (maybe, but probably not, snowboards) etc. This could also feature the ice-fishing shed/pond idea. Winter Village Inn - This could have the feel of a Pub but without explicitly stating it as such (thereby getting around the age-appropriateness restrictions), with a first-floor communal dining area and a couple of bedrooms on the second floor. Winter Village Dance Hall - another 'winter party' venue with a band on a stage and a couple of pairs of dancers. Winter Village Library (or Bookstore) - What could be better on a cold winter's day than to read a book by a roaring fireplace (complete with lightbrick)? Edited April 24, 2012 by vynsane Quote
Vindicare Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Well, we're getting closer to a reveal. It's still a few months(release is November?). By the end of the summer, I'm sure we'll see at least the ol' blurry retailers catalogue picture. Quote
vynsane Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I actually searched for the term "Winter Village Post Office Revealed" and it seems the official press release went out in August of 2011, so yeah - blurry shots in a month or two, official word a few months after Quote
paostmo Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I think it's definitely going to be a Chalet/Warming House. Our local Chalet/Warming House serves hot chocolate and coffee, and has both a sledding hill and an ice rink. I doubt LEGO would include a big bulky hill with their set, but I'm certain they will include a sleigh sooner or later. My bet is Chalet + sleigh. Quote
GRogall Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I heard a rumor that we might not get another set in the series! Apparently the Winter Village Postoffice didn't sell very well.......... I hope its not true but guess we will have to wait and see. Quote

I hope its not true but guess we will have to wait and see. Yeah, just like Lucas said Jar Jar wouldn't appear again after Ep.1 ! Lego shouldn't even consider dumping this theme, we don't have an inn or general store or an old garage, the list can go on. Though I was told a long time ago by either the Lego rep or a retailer.....Santa's Workshop. Though it might have been only a rumour, now such a set would be awesome to have. Quote
vynsane Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 The line not continuing would be disappointing, especially after I caught up and bought all three of the sets last November Quote

Apparently the Winter Village Postoffice didn't sell very well.......... I hope its not true but guess we will have to wait and see. Aww, I wanted at least five for the theme! Hopefully it's just a rumor. Wasn't there a polybag set announced called "Holiday Train"? I thought a train would be the next set in the Winter theme. Also, I don't think the Post Office sold well too. I went to my LEGO store last month, and they still had a bunch of copies of it on clearence. Lastly, I remember the Toy Shop and the Bakery being sold out during the year they were released. Edited April 26, 2012 by just2good Quote
Cara Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Apparently the Winter Village Postoffice didn't sell very well.......... There were also loads of them way after Christmas at my local Lego store, however they weren't really clearanced - clearance to me is 30% or over. It was a set that I liked but was too expensive for me to buy at a time when I had other things higher up the list (like Mill Village Raid). About $50 is my price range for a set that only comes out (in my house) on a seasonal occasion often with mini figs that are already available in other sets. I would have bought it on clearance. That being said I think they really need a winter train station and a new train. Edited April 27, 2012 by Cara Quote
mcbbvb Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) A member on Brickset (flump6523) told us the following about the Winter Village set: The stars reveal the 2012 Winter Village set will arrive in the form of..........a cottage!I know, doesn't sound particularly exciting to me either and with a price tag of £90 (double its predecessors), it's definitely going to need to be something special if TLG are going to sell at the same rate. My gut feeling is it has to be some sort of timber lodge/chalet type building but for now it's "a cottage". I will endeavour to probe further. Something else that was said, just remembered, was that it "had a really weird front and was a much bigger set". Not much more to go on, I know. This was back in March so I don't know if this is still relevant information. Edited April 27, 2012 by mcbbvb Quote
scottwb2010 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 It would be dissapointing if Lego pulled the plug on the winter village. Maybe not so many people purchased the Post Office in the hope to pick it up at a cheaper price as not long after the release of this TLG had the winter toy shop for sale at a knockdown price. I hope they bring out a Winter Sports shop. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I think there is a lot of potential left with this theme. I got all three last Christmas (thankfully they reissued the Toy Shop). The Post Office was purchased after Christmas at $52.xx or something near there instead of the original price of $69.99. That would probably be why it didn't sell well (if that is the case). You do get more pieces and a neat building, but $70 is a bit steep. Luckily Lego S@H had it on sale at that time. As far as a future release, a lodge of some sort makes the most sense. Release date is probably near October, so it might be late summer before we have any reliable information on the future of this series. Yet another set I completely spaced on when trying to budget for Lego this year... Quote
vynsane Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Had another idea - a Winter Village School House complete with a teacher and a class eagerly anticipating being let out for the winter break. Quote
Vindicare Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Had another idea - a Winter Village School House complete with a teacher and a class eagerly anticipating being let out for the winter break. Ya know, I like this. Giving it some thought, I see an old school one room classroom with the little bell tower up top. Great idea! Quote
vynsane Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Yeah, one-room schoolhouse with the bell/clock tower was exactly what I had in mind Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Thank you very much for this information, Lego_Punk and welcome to EB! Please let it be another Christmas train! or a redux of the first one. Although I'd like a new Xmas train (with PF elements included), I highly doubt that there will be one this year since in the Trains forum one of our very reliable sources wrote that there won't be any Trains set this year. If the info about a large Winter set is right, I hope - and even bet - that it will be a PF functioned ski lift (together with a house including the motor and an additional small cafe or other building). Klaus-Dieter As much as I don't really like PF coming with sets due to the price increase that idea sounds awesome! I would love a little motorized ski lift with two buildings at each end to hide the PF bits. Nice idea, KD! Quote
Graysmith Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 As much as I'd like to see LEGO do a nice, big chalet-type building, I have to admit I'd be a bit pissed if that is this year's Winter Village set and ends up being twice as expensive as the previous ones. I personally like to think of the Winter Village as a great collectable one-set-a-year theme for people who can't afford the Modulars, so if they jack up the price on the Winter Village to twice the price, people collecting them might not be able to afford the newest addition. Plus, a really big chalet would likely not fit well with the existing sets. You'd have three small buildings and then a big chalet towering over them. It'd look silly. If they really are doing a chalet, I hope it's at least about the same size as the existing buildings, and that the piece/price bump comes from peripherals (more minifigures, a car or two, a sleigh with the new horses, and so on).
