vynsane Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 But the official press release was sometime in August, I believe. Quote
Vindicare Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I posted the info in May last year! Well quit your slackin' and get to it! Quote
GRogall Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Well I got the the info today that 10229 will be the winter set this year, but the only thing I was able to find in the database was 10229 Winterliche Hü?????? Which could mean Winterliche Hütte, German Christmas Hut!? hope we know more soon! Quote

That was also the previous information. Quote
sharky Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I was curious about these sets. The Toy Shop is discontinued, but is it safe to assume that Lego will have only 2 available at any given time. For instance, will this be the last year for the Bakery now that we have the Post Office and a new set coming this winter? So, maybe during the holidays this year we'll see all 3 (Bakery, Post Office, new set), but after all the Bakery sets are sold they won't restock? Quote

Pretty sure S@H was selling all three sets this past Christmas, and I would expect them to do so this coming season too, but dropping the Toy Shop and adding the new one. Quote

I can't wait to see the final set, a winter cottage would be a nice addition Quote

lightningtiger Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) I heard from a good source about a large winter set last year coming up in the series.....maybe Santa's Workshop ? Edit - looking into German words starting with Hu with the dots above the u....something to do either with hats or metalwork or just a cabin ? Edited June 22, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
Vindicare Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Hmm...whatever it is, I can't wait! Although, I may have to charge TLG with cruelty to customers releasing 10228 and 10229 so close together. Quote
vynsane Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 "Winterliche Hütte" just seems to translate to "Winter Cabin" or "Winter Cottage" - so perhaps it's something like the small Ski Chalet/cabin we've been contemplating. The only other German word that starts with "Hü..." that made sense to me was Hügel - meaning 'hill' or 'mound'... a ski slope? I looked through the "Hü..." words here: http://www.dict.cc/deutsch-englisch/h316.php and Hütte and Hügel were the only two that made sense in context, but perhaps a German speaking member could shed some light here... Quote
cimddwc Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Well, "Hügel" = hills (plural, since in singular it would have to read "winterlicher Hügel") or "Hügellandschaft" = landscape of hills would make sense in that winter setting indeed, but I don't really think Lego would release just some landscape (and neither an entire hilltop town (Hügelstadt) after the series is a "winter village" already); and if it's a ski slope (or a ski slope is the major part of the set), I'd use "ski slope" (Skipiste, Skihügel) in the product name and not hill (nor "hill with ski slope", Hügel mit Skipiste, which would be too long)... so Hütte sounds most likely to me (which doesn't say there can't be skiers nearby). Or a cabin on a hill, Hügelhütte. :) Quote
vynsane Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 ^ Thanks much, I think that clears it up and we can strongly assume 'Hütte' is the magic word here - unless you can think of something other than the two words I picked out Quote
Vindicare Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Ooh, I'm getting excited. Maybe it's a ski lodge? The furnishings will be a couch and some chairs. A table with hot chocolate and a fireplace. Quote
peddi0027 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Could be "Winterliche Hütte" or "Winterliche Hufschmiede" - a blacksmith's! Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Exciting news... seeing how we've seen TLG like to justify the financial burden of all the new molds in the CMF line, this is a perfect opportunity to put all those skis and poles from the Series 2 collectible minifig. I can see it now... a roaring fire, a little apres-ski bar with all those leftover trucker mugs, maybe even a snowmobile. VERY exciting!!!! Quote
cimddwc Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 or "Winterliche Hufschmiede" - a blacksmith's! Not if we assume "Hü", as GRogall initially wrote, is correct. These two dots above the u do make a difference in German. :) Quote
vynsane Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 maybe even a snowmobile. VERY exciting!!!! This is highly doubtful, given that the previous offerings in the line are definitely set in a 'bygone' or 'timeless' era. The only motorized vehicle so far is the postal truck and it's definitely an early 20th Century model. The only other vehicle is a horse-drawn cart! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Could be "Winterliche Hütte" or "Winterliche Hufschmiede" - a blacksmith's! Well, we all know how much Lego loves bringing out blacksmith workshops in the historic arena ? But remember a few years back, a city truck we thought would be a breakdown truck ended up being a lighting repair truck. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Thank you very much for this information, grogall! According to this site 10229 seems to be called "10229 Winter Village Hut" and does cost converted in Euros 100,811 - so supposably 100 Euros / Dollars. I'm really excited what this set will include - it seems this year regrettably very late that we get precise information. I hope for a ski hut and a ski lift - that would be a dream and besides be the most supposable (I mean: the Winter Village is about a snwoy village located in a winter diorama - and skiing is always coming to your mind when you think about such a landscape). Let's hope that we get more detailed information or even better pics soon! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Graysmith Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) I read on a Swedish forum that LEGO is supposedly announcing the next exclusive set at Brick Fiesta this Friday afternoon (July 6th). It could be something else of course, but it would make sense for it to be the next Winter Village set since it ought to be the next exclusive set released after the Haunted House (which comes out early September). That several retailers have started to add it to their databases would also suggest that an announcement is imminent.. EDIT: It's mentioned on the Brick Fiesta website too. aroprat Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I was just able to pick up the last of the winter x-mas sets I needed (Toy Shop!) and am really stoked to build them when the time comes around. I was doing some google searching to see if there would be another set released this year and I picked up a line or two about a 'Christmas Train'!? Brickapedia had an entry but nothing filled in ....Was hoping to find a promo picture or some kind of leaked photo if there was one available. Anybody have any info on if there is going to be a new winter set coming out this year or the possibility of an awesome train? Quote
danim Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 that would be this set http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=10173-1 which was released in 2006 Quote
aroprat Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Gah! Just looked up the cost of that on ebay...No way I'll ever be able to afford it.. =/ Any ideas on any other holiday legos coming out this year? Thanks for the link btw! Quote
danim Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 no prob and unfortunately there have been no announcement about the new winter village theme however this is probably the best place to discuss it http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61410 Quote
