I wonder if there will be a new theme - a Halloween/Autumn Village?!

This is a great idea but my wallet just punched me in the kidney. Couple with another costume party minifig series...

I have thought about converting my WV for this. Take off the snow, change the Xmas decorations for Halloween ones. No idea how much it would cost though. At the moment I put out the Ghostbuster car with the Vampire haunted mansion and the fishing store. If Lego do start a Halloween theme village I think I might need to buy a bigger house for storing it all 😂

Received my Santa Sleigh from Lego this morning.

I was fortunate enough to have ordered 2 before they put the limits down to 1.

I don't intend to build it until December but was curious as to how easy it would be to make the full 8 reindeer sleigh using both sets.

Following a suggestion posted earlier I used a gold lightsaber hilt to join two gold "cables" and it is a surprisingly strong fit.

Probably wont stand up to much swooshing, but as a static display it works.

Reindeers are a little bit closer together though.

If you're looking to swoop I think some supplemental support will be needed at the hooves although I'm not sure how discrete that would be. Maybe some clear Technic beams?

Definitely.

If you were to try and display a full 8 reindeer sleigh flying you wou definitely need support, at least on one reindeer either side of the lightsaber join.

Probably would for the standard 4 reindeer sleigh too.

i'll be using mine as a substitute for the brick built one outside the Santa Workshop in my display. so it will be grounded  (well, for this year at least...)

What are other people going to do with their brick built reindeer? I still really like the brick built ones and had actually bricklinked more of those a few years ago. But they will look odd together with the new ones. I will likely put them in different places on my layout but it is still a little weird. What a conundrum eh?!

I’ve been wondering the same. I don’t think I’m going to have much of a problem though whilst my sons young as it will definitely go off on journeys around the house knowing him.

You could set them up as statues/models for children to play on. Perhaps coin operated rides at the market? As they're brick-built, they might fit in better with the other brick-built entertainment?

Originally, Santa’s Sleigh was back ordered and the Lego S@H website said it would. Be shipped on October 25. But today, it’s shipped out, heck yeah!

Ok so here are my random ideas:

1) Xmas parade float

2) Props for ‘photo with Santa’

3) Reindeer and sleigh rollercoaster - would actually love to see someone attempt this

I will use mine to expand my "mall santa" photo op display area in the town square, the idea being they are static plastic models instead of real animals.

There's that MOC which I made my own version of using the frame of the Pirate rollercoaster which I slowly replaced with more Christmassy colours (this year my grey track and carriages will be red and green instead!) I can tell you from messing around with it a lot that the weight of the coaster carriages makes a huge difference to how willing it is to go up a slope so, unless you're going to have a pretty simple coaster, I think the brick built Reindeers from Santa's workshop would probably be too heavy. I tried to upload a photo of mine, but I can't make it small enough to fit the attachment limits. Do we have a monthly allowance or something? 30kb is crazy small!

I like the photo op idea.  Have a fake Santa in town while the real one gets ready at the North Pole Santa Workshop.

Would they go on the carousel from the winter Market set 10235?

Haven't got it myself so don't know the mechanism or size compared with the brick built reindeer.

Oh wow! I like it. Have you tried hanging them underneath so they look like they’re flying? Not even sure if that would be possible. I am limited to building basic houses and following instructions. Although I did make the best fantasy go kart when we had a family competition 😂

I think I have tried them on the carousel in the past and they have fitted but I could be wrong

I was able to hold out till double VIP points to order my Santa's visit.  I managed to get one of the sleighs earlier, so we are good to go with some solid add ons to the winter village.  Now to see what the GWP are...I suspect one will be winter village friendly and one will be more like a scene like last years scrooge.

Don't we usually know what holiday GWP's will be by now?  Do you think there won't be any this year?  I was saving my Santa's visit purchase for the GWP, but may just pull the trigger on 2x VIP points.

Lego has done a good job of clamping the photo leaks. We'll know for sure in a few weeks when the Black Friday mailer is released but no reason to believe there won't be two GWP per usual.

There’s two...I’m blanking on the names we’ve gotten. They’re here somewhere in the thread(or someone will come around & answer).

Santa’s Front Yard and Mr & Mrs Claus’s Living Room. I don't think there are details other than the names though.

Joining two cables together would be cheaper if you're just buying two sleighs and combining them, but if you want a stronger connection this cable (more than double the length of the one from the sleigh set) is available from one of this year's Ninjago sets, and probably through Bricklink/Bricks & Pieces as well.

I have been thinking the Home Alone announcement will be this week if Nov 1 is correct. Especially if there will be an early release for VIPs, it will have to be announced soon

I tried using the trans clear 15M beams from Anakin & Sebulba’s Podracers for the underside of the sleigh & reindeer. I put some pins with studs to connect them. Sadly they don’t stay put in the sleigh’s undercarriage very well. Otherwise I think it’s pretty sturdy. Gonna think about ways I can strengthen it some & see if it works out.

I just finished building both Santa’s Visit and Santa’s Sleigh sets today. Due to my low vision, I asked someone to help me build before we could get busier during a Christmas season.

Anyways, when I finished building, I am blown away by both sets combined! I’m so glad I made a decision to buy both sets. They definitley have a magical vibe. Like…a little girl is surprised to see Santa’s sleigh outside her home while her parents laugh delightfully. What a wonderful combination of lego sets… I don’t understand why some AFOLs don’t like blue walls tho? This color scheme is lovely and cozy rather than “cold”. I don’t need to swap them for tan parts. I’m greatly pleased that Santa’s Visit set is not completely realistic - Santa is included which it’s a bit of fantasy in that set.

I really don’t need to buy an extra Santa’s Sleigh set. I mean sure, Santa does have 8 reindeer but I’m completely fine with 4 reindeer myself.  I mean…it may be a waste if I buy more sleigh parts, in my opinion. I really don’t think that sleigh is that big. It’s a right size, no quesitons asked.

By the way, who designed Santa’s Sleigh if it’s not Chris McVeigh?

They are my first Winter Village sets (even tho Santa’s Sliegh is NOT a part of Winter Village).

I will give it my ranting - 5/5. :)

Okay, I will wait for TLG to come up with a new theme - Autum/Halloween Village!

I think the complaint with the wall colors goes back to the Cottage, which was also blue(different shade). I too think it’s great, with the dark blue trim along with it.

I’m still going back & forth about a second sleigh. I’m perfectly happy with the 4. I still may end up getting a second one, but won’t be bothered if I decide not to.
