Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I am personally still waiting on a town hall, inn, and an old book store. I originally wanted a larger ice rink with maybe a chalet and ski lift but I think I’ve enough frozen ponds from the sets and GWP for it to go on the back burner. To think Lego already know what our next sets will be. Wish I did 😂 

and I’ve just realised it’s the 1st tomorrow and I’ve not sorted my sons Winter Village Advent Calendar. Oh dear. I better get cracking 😳

So, yeah, bummer about the 2nd GWP.  Last years GWP in Dec was great, the ice skating pond.  I wonder if they sold so well in November they just don't feel then need or have the inventory to incentivize Dec purchases even more.  

 

Yeah nevermind the 2nd GWP, even the first one was unimpressive relative to those from previous years.

Anyone seen the lunar new year set?! Darn it I think I’ve got to scrimp more money together. Looks like it could look good in the WV scene and very much what I’ve been hoping for in terms of an ice rink

It’s already been made public, even on the TLG store. A collection of 6 vignettes (too bad heavily stickered) and a ice skating/ice festival park.

Yes that’s where I’ve just come across it. Thought it looked a lovely scene to add to the middle of the village. Might need to rethink the Chinese decorations although being red it could work, possibly. Change the photo picture from tigers to maybe reindeers. Would love a child with a Rudolf nose face print and antler headband. Maybe one day they will do a little village school with the children dressed up as such!

Ooo, Old Book Store sounds nice! Or how about a library?

a town hall sounds cool! Maybe add a mobile log cabin with a man pretending to be Santa so kids can visit and take pictures wiht him.  Just like I had one in my hometown in Ameirca.

FYI: if anyone is looking for the Gingerbread House, check your local Target. My store had 30-35 copies displayed on 2 separate endcaps.

I know this is a late reply, but mine were crumpled badly. I have had this issue with stickers and instruction books quite a lot lately (generally on small sets where they are loose in box). I always use Bricks and Pieces (replacement parts on the Lego homepage for those who don't know) and get replacement ones sent out. Normally when they send them from there they put a small piece of cardboard in to stop them from being damaged. I have not had any issues with the replacement ones.

So if you haven't done so order new ones through BAP. I hope that if this happens enough they would realise what poor quality they were sending out. I just wish I had known of this service earlier for all the damaged stickers I received in the past. It really does reflect poorly on the quality of what is supposed to be the premium product.

I had the same issue with Santa’s Sleigh as well.

 

Also, I ended up taking a closer look at the Elf Clubhouse yesterday at Target, as I’ve never really paid attention to the set. I kinda dig it, would you guys recommend it?

Highly recommended by me. It and the Gingerbread House are by far my favorites in the theme.

Awesome, I think I might pick it up next year. So far the only Winter Village set I have is Santa’s Visit and some smaller Seasonal sets and I’m really eager to expand my layout.

LEGO typically does Christmas in July, and will restock the set. I suggest getting it then, because trying to find it later in the year can be stressful, and it will likely retire at the end of next year.

100%. I bought my Gingerbread House in May/June... I think. Sometime when it was warm because it wasn't ever in stock more than 2-3 hours and I was busy. Well worth the full price I paid. I got Elf Clubhouse for 25% off because of a screwy box.

Santa´s front yard 40484 is back as gwp (at least at lego.com/sk-sk), same promotion as before. So no second gwp this year then?

Several places are now saying Santa's Living Room GWP it's cancelled. But that might be OK, because they're sold out of all the sets anyway. Only one thing available on my wishlist (of 16). Only two sets across the entire Friends line. Two! For Friends! Wow. This feels worse than last year.

Blurry picture of the seemingly cancelled  40489 Mr. and Mrs. Claus GWP is on Instagram. It looks like it does connect to the Santa’s Front Yard and I really like the Mrs. Claus minifigure.

It's such a shame that they cancelled it, if that's the real thing. Because it would genuinely have made me buy things from LEGO, which is precisely the point of the GWPs!

Pretty decent GWP. Hopefully it sees light next year. I really like the wreath and wall sconce builds. Mrs. Claus does look like a nice minifig...I have several Santas but no Mrs. I'm not sure how I'd work this into my display.

Briq Foundation has a decent picture, and his post and recent YouTube video says it's inventory issues. It's not clear if it's inventory of the GWP set, or every type of set. There are very few sets available on lego.com at the moment.

I wonder if they’ll just save it for Christmas in July or maybe just hold off until next December. I can’t imagine that it’s very cost efficient to store whatever they have of this promo for several months to a year though.

Oh well, this makes me feel better about saving my next big Lego purchase until January 1st, assuming we have some cool promos then.

Honestly, I wonder if Mrs. Claus minifigure would show up in a next Winter Village set in 2022? I mean, I never have one. Ever. 

I think the last time I saw Mr.s Claus minifigure was in Santa’s Workshop in early 2010s?

Anyays, I’m kinda glad that I don’t have to buy a ton of Lego sets to get Christmas GWPs. You know…a shopper’s impulse… I’m going to save money. And saving some space for potenially future big sets.

Ah yes. Well too bad for me - I never heard of BAM until last year - there is no Lego store in my area. But yes, you are right - there was Mrs. Claus in 2018.

After several Bricklink orders I finally got my Hogsmeade set winterized: https://imgur.com/a/I8NAGQ0

Honeydukes is basically the same except for the fully snowcovered roof. The tavern was made more festive with wreaths and greenery, along with the snowcover. I didn't find the chimneys to be very realistic so I omitted them. I also added some eaves to the gable ends and copied the gingerbread-like detail from the rest of the structure. The resulting roof panel isn't quite as rigid as I'd like but it's not fragile either...I suppose on par with the original construction stability. I haven't yet wired it up for lights and it's 50-50 whether I find time to tackle that this year. We shall see.
