Posted August 16, 20159 yr Lego Set 42030 can no longer be purchased on the Lego Shop. The Availability says " Temporarily Out Of Stock" I was hoping to pick this set up and get some VIP points along the way. My local TRU still has one available. Thank you Eurobrick Technic Team Lurker... out
August 16, 20159 yr Lego Set 42030 can no longer be purchased on the Lego Shop. The Availability says " Temporarily Out Of Stock" Really? You answered your own question straight away, it says 'Temporarily out of stock'. I'm assuming you don't speak English very well because it explains it, they don't currently have any 42030 sets ready for sale at the moment so you just have to wait for however long it takes for TLG to restock it. Generally the sets get retired two years after they are released so the Volvo will still be available for a year yet. Edited August 16, 20159 yr by Kiwi_Builder
August 16, 20159 yr Author Thanks for the prompt response Kiwi Builder... I guess you're right. I did answer my own question.
August 16, 20159 yr I got my Volvo from local shop few days ago. Box was slightly damaged, covered in dust, sticker with price was far from real. And i had some feeling that this is the last sealed Volvo on earth... It's only my opinion, but i think you need to hurry)
August 16, 20159 yr You don't say where in the world you are, but I picked one up last week from tescos in the UK. No problem whatsoever. It is included in their current offers, so the price is very good, which may affect availability... I should add that was via their direct service, rather than in store...
August 16, 20159 yr Moscow, Russia. All is not so bad here, 42030 still available in stores) I just felt this destructive unstoppable flow-of-time thing)
August 16, 20159 yr Availability differs between countries. For example it's available at shop@home for customers in Sweden and Germany but not for US customers.
August 16, 20159 yr Maybe because of the box from the 42030 is about the same size as the 42043 some shops had to choose
August 16, 20159 yr The listing on the actual Lego Shop website has been stuck on "Temporarily Out of Stock" for a very long time, now. I'd been waiting for it to become available again, but I ended up going to Amazon.com, and getting it for $220 just 2 days ago. My experience with the Lego online store is rather iffy in terms of stock, and with the way scalpers go at these things, I would rather be safe than sorry. Besides, the $30 I saved didn't hurt, either.
August 16, 20159 yr Plenty of Volvo's, Cargo Planes, Crawler Cranes and even Mobile Crane MK2s in Turkey.
August 17, 20159 yr Generally the sets get retired two years after they are released I doubt that applies to expensive flagship sets. Besides, you'd have to clarify what it means for a set to be "retired". The way I see it, flagship sets are produced in a run of several thousand during the first year of release. Thereafter, unless the demand for them remains very high, their production will not continue. With all the PF elements in 42030, it's an expensive set for TLG to produce and they won't want unsold stock gathering dust in warehouses. The PF elements will serve them much better in newer sets coming 2016.
November 27, 20159 yr I got the 42030 today from a Lego shop in Manchester, UK they had 7 more boxes on the shelf Edited November 27, 20159 yr by ctx1769

The PF elements will serve them much better in newer sets coming 2016. The idea here is that flagship sets stay available for at least 2 years. My Local LEGO shop (monobrand) still has 42009 available, and this model is still included in LEGO catalogue.

This set is everywhere and will be around for probably an other 12 months.
November 29, 20159 yr We still got them in stores (other than the Lego shop) in Scotland, but not the Lego shop in Glasgow.
November 30, 20159 yr Last week I was in the Lego store in Wijnegem (near Antwerp) and they still had the 42030.
November 30, 20159 yr Technic set EOL's are very predictable. Flagships get 2.5 years other sets get 1.5 to 2 years production. #42030 will be with us until next Xmas. One exception - Last year #42008 didn't retire on time and has only just sold out. I was wondering #42025 could get the same extension.
