Boettner Builds Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 With ALL of the different CMF's out there, how many of us have ALL of them? I've been steaming away at getting them all, and I'm getting pretty close (about 45 left to get). Now I've seen some people claim you don't have The complete set unless you have Mr. gold and the Team GB minifigs. Just wondering what others think and where everyone is at with their own collections. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I have all 16 from Series 1-13 + The Toy Soldier Team GB doesn't count for me. So, Mr. Gold is the only minifigure I'm missing. Quote
Phyre Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I have every figure from series 1-13. Although I do not count them as part of the "main collection," I also have a complete Simpsons series 1 as well as a mostly complete LEGO Movie series. I don't count Team GB or the exclusives. Quote
AmperZand Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) A friend of mine might have them all when I get him the complete set of S14 he has requested. I know he has a Mr Gold which he was lucky enough to find in store and a team GB as I was with him when he bought the ones he was missing. I don't know if he has the Toy Soldier or the early serieses. I should ask him. I only collect fantasy/mythology ones plus some historicals and horror and have all the ones I want except S14 which I should be getting in the next few weeks. I have been collecting minifigures since 1993 so didn't miss out on the early CMFs. In fact, I think I still have some MIP spares of S1 and 2. Edit: I now have all of S14 but only got the zombie businessman, zombie cheerleader and mad scientist for parts. The rest will be added to my display collection albeit with some MOC'ed. Lexa Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hi I'm missing Mr. Gold ! But which one is the toy soldier ? Anyone a picture? Or does it mean the one from the danish toy store exclusive? Lexa Quote
L@go Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I got incredibly lucky this summer and got a Mr Gold... for free. Long story. And very strange. Which means I now have every collectable minifigure. Including Team GB, both Simpsons series, the toy soldier from the Minifigures book - and the BR minifig which, as far as I know, is the only minifigure outside the series to actually come with a stand included. As for which minifigures that 'count' and not... I don't care. I'm happy with my collection, and whatever other people think should be included or excluded... hey, whatever floats your boat! Quote
legoguy1984 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Now I'm interested to hear your story abput Mr Gold. I also only get the ones I like so no fill sets and I missed out on the first three series. Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Just extract and modify a little for my response below, Now with a total of 281 minifigures released for the entire Series 1 to 13, the recent LEGO Movie Series, LEGO Simpsons Series 1 to 2 and the current LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14, not including Mr. Gold which unfortunately I do not have the blessings or lucky stars to own it till this date, and the special exclusive Toy Soldier minifigure and 9 LEGO Team GB minifigures. I think my numbers are correct. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hi I'm missing Mr. Gold ! But which one is the toy soldier ? Anyone a picture? Or does it mean the one from the danish toy store exclusive? Lexa It's him He is exclusive to LEGO Minifigures Character Encyclopedia. There is another exclusive Minifigure coming, the Zombie Skater: He is exclusive to the "LEGO: I Love That Minifigure" book. Acoording to the books, both are part of the CMF theme but they don't belong to any series. Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Until some time ago I had at least 2 of every minifig of every series. Since the price of some double skyrocketed, I kept only 1x of the ones I don't love. I also have the Toy Soldier and the GB Olympics, of course, but yet no Mr. Gold here. Quote
telaruhn Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I have the completed S5, S6, S9, S11, S12, and S13 and a nearly-completed S7, S8, and S10. I only have the Kimono Girl from S4 and none from S1 through S3. I have a few Simpsons figures, but I only got them for parts and don't consider them as part of my collection. Quote
fred67 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I guess if you want to be pedantic about it, you'd need everything, including Mr. Gold. However, Team GB, The Simpsons, and TLM are considered "sub-themes," so if someone wanted to say "I have all the regular series CMFs" (or numbered series), I think that's fine. I don't think you need to have Mr. Gold, the toy soldier, or the zombie skater; those are all "extras," and the soldier and skater aren't even blind packed. I could see the arguments both ways, though, so wouldn't argue with someone about it. EDIT: for the record, I have all numbered series up until 13, both Simpsons, some TLM. By the time TLM series came out, I was getting tired of how expensive these were - I also didn't see TLM until yesterday and didn't care for the "themed" series. So numbered series up to 12 I have in duplicate (some in triplicate), but now I don't care to be a completist anymore. I understand why TLG does things like "Mr. Gold" and exclusives for books, but that doesn't mean I like it or have to play their game. Along these same lines, I'm the last person to post in the CMF trading thread - four months ago (although I updated my last post in May). What gives? Is everybody magically getting exactly what they wanted, and nobody needs any older figures anymore? Edited August 17, 2015 by fred67 Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I have at least one of every so-called CMF from the numbered series 1-13 except Mr. Gold, at least one of each from The LEGO Movie, and one of each one from both series of The Simpsons. I do not have Mr. Gold, the Toy Soldier from the Character Encyclopedia, or any of the Team GB ones, though I do expect to get at least the Character Encyclopedia. Until some time ago I had at least 2 of every minifig of every series. Since the price of some double skyrocketed, I kept only 1x of the ones I don't love. I tried to get at least two of each for a while, and more of those I found particularly useful to have in large numbers. By the time Series 8 came out, though, I was having a harder time keeping track of just where I was in my collecting at any given moment, and I accidentally wound up not getting a single duplicate of the the one figure from S8 that I most wanted a bunch of (the Lederhosen Guy - I'd really wanted to get a slew of them for use in an Oktoberbest-related creation). After that huge disappointment, later compounded by my failure to get enough Series 10 Baseball Fielders to make a whole team, I found it harder to justify trying to get so many of each as I'd done before, and I no longer try. I do still have at least two of each figure from Series 1-7, and way more of some individual figures (my counts of S2 Spartan Warriors, S5 Graduates and S6 Roman Soldiers are all over 20), but I think Series 9 is the last series for which I have at least two of each. And for the two series based on The Simpsons, I just have exactly one apiece. In fact, I think I still have some MIP spares of S1 and 2. I do also still have a slew of unopened ones, just for kicks. While the vast majority of my minifigures are opened, including at least two of everything from S1-7 and at least one of everything after that (save Mr. Gold and the Team GBers which I don't have at all, of course), I still have dozens of unopened ones to save "for a rainy day". The idea is that when I want a little surprise for myself I csn reach in, grab one at random and open it. It's not a complete surprise, since these are all ones I felt packets to figure out what they were when I bought them (so I do know I don't have any more S8 Lederhosen Guys, alas), but I wont know exactly what I'm getting when I just reach in and grab something, especially if I don't even look to see what series it is first. However, I've been thinking of trading some of these off for others I want more duplicates of, so for the moment I'm still holding off on opening any, for the most part. It seems appropriate to keep them in this LEGO trick-or-treating bucket (a freebie from a Toys 'R' Us LEGO promo from a few years ago); apologies for the crummy photo: Edited August 17, 2015 by Blondie-Wan Quote
BrickOn Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I only have 117, not even halfway! But I did only start collecting a year ago, so I feel like a made a good start. Initially, I was not bothered about either Simpsons, but then recently started getting them for a friend and really liked feeling up the packets again that decided I might as well add some to my collection, with the added bonus that we can trade our multiples. And I was not really that into the Lego Movie Series because, I just wasn't a fan of all the robots, so although now I want a full set, I currently only have 3. Everything else is mostly series 5 onward, with one from series 1 and one from series 2 my mum picked up from a guy at work (which makes up for the fact she over paid for a few other random non-collectable minifigs he convinced her to buy off him). Quote
Dorayaki Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I'm shameful enough to admit that I didn't try to collect all of them ever since the beginning. Only 3 from Series 1 actually appealed me, but I admire TLG's intention and I must say that more and more designs from later series look so attrative that I wanna collect them all. I mostly collect figures that look original enough to be in any theme. Simpsons characters are very specific for normal FOLs' tastes. As for TLM series, I still think the master figures look more like a part of regular series so "regular fans" didn't really have to skip TLM series on purpose. I didn't. I was annoyed at first that they'd "ruin" the CMF line with a movie tie-in line, but I liked a lot of the figures in their own rights... Lincoln, Taco Tuesday guy, the barista, just not the robots, really. Even a couple Mr. Businesses. In fact, even before I saw the movie, I bought a couple of Unikitties just for the heck of it (because I thought they were funny). I just never really cared, at that point, that I wasn't be a completist (completionist?) because I felt like TLG stepped out of bounds (team GB, too). I got the Simpsons because I like the Simpsons, otherwise I'd have skipped them, too. Quote
Dorayaki Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Which one is this? 5001121 manufactured in 2013. He is more like a special licensed mascot character like Julius and Quicky, I think. I didn't. I was annoyed at first that they'd "ruin" the CMF line with a movie tie-in line. Interestingly, fans were arguing about whether we won't get regularly numbered series since TLM. Now the answer seems to be both yes and no. Considering that LEGO would like to compete with other blindbag manufacturers, special series sounds inevitable. Tie-ins do help themes that can't complete characters collections just within regular sets. Edited August 17, 2015 by Dorayaki Quote

Tie-ins do help themes that can't complete characters collections just within regular sets. Sure, but the question is do you have to count those tangential series? As I mentioned, these are generally considered sub-themes, so if I don't have all the sub-themes, do I not have a complete collection? I can see it both ways - I tend to think that you really need them all in order to say you have them all, but are TLM figures supplemental to TLM sets, or are they really supposed to be "collectible?" Does it matter why they were made? I don't know, but I guess I often figured that since TGB was not available here, I didn't care if I had them or not. Edited August 17, 2015 by fred67 Quote
Steve309 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I started collecting around series 8 I have complete sets of only 4 series Series 10 + Mr. Gold ( got him in a blind pack so paid only $3.99) Lego movie Simpsons series 1 and 2 All others I just buy the ones I want. My brother and I are pretty good at feeling them out. Quote
Tariq j Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I've managed to collect the whole of The Team GB series and Simpsons Series 2. Quote

paul_delahaye Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Just that Mr Gold that eluded me, apart from that I have 2 sets of all figures, however, I've mislaid 1 x Zombie from series 1, I know I had two of them, but I can't find one of them at the moment. fred67 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Do all of you that started collecting late know about the CMF Trading Thread? Good way to trade newer figures for some of the older ones you may not have. Unfortunately, people have stopped keeping their haves/wants up to date. The link to my post is in my signature. I realize there are some other sites were made to facilitate trading, but it just seems to have died completely here. Quote
L@go Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Right... about that Mr Gold. I obviously thought it was an interesting idea at the time, including a super-rare figure in Series 10, so I bought a box of 60 - but of course I didn't get it. Then I forgot about it for a long time, but for some reason I remembered it earlier this year. I thought maybe then would be a better time to look for it, so I put up an eBay search... and got a very interesting hit after only a couple of days. It was a US seller, with limited feedback, but the auction seemed legitimate, the images looked real, and it had a Buy It Now price of $100. Now, $100 is a lot of money, but it's not a fortune - so I thought if this is a scam, I might get my money back from PayPal, but if I don't, I won't be bankrupt. And so I bought it and sent the money to the seller via PayPal. Then the seller sent the figure to a friend of mine in the US, and I picked it up at Brickworld in Chicago. Sure enough, the figure is genuine, it's never been assembled, it's still in the transparent plastic bag, and the numbered leaflet was included. This was obviously all very nice for $100 - they sell for almost ten times that. But the big surprise came when PayPal refunded my money - because the seller never claimed it. I don't know why. I sent him an email, asking him what had happened, saying that it's a valuable figure, and I'm not really comfortable with getting it for free - that was never my intention. I still haven't heard back. So it seems I've ended up with a Mr. Gold for free... Edited August 17, 2015 by L@go Quote
