The civil war is ended, but Alric still didn't like that his border with the Kaliphlins was so vulnerable.

To solve this gap in the Avalonian defenses, he had a line of watchtowers made on the hills bordering his southern neighbours.

All of them were within such a distance of the others, that one could easily pass a horn signal along the line, toward the central castle, were the Postal Service had always a messenger waiting to ride to the capital. At the most eastern tower of his country, Alric ordered a stable made and a messenger to be ready, so in a case of attack, he could easily warn his allies, or call Beorthan to his aid.

A standard tower

The pathway leading towards the entrance, build so only one man can climb it at a time.

Sight from above. A tower in danger can put the bridge on fire, and sit out a long siege with the supplies stored in it's cellars, 'till Alric or the Avalonian army comes.

Okay, it's been a while i posted something, and this was an excellent opportunity to try some new techniques, i saw on the forum.

I'd really like to know what you think about them, 'cause they may be new for me, you guys play with it since "cars were four studs wide".

Personally, i think all went well, but C&C is very welcome!

Thanks to Adair, and to Bregir for answering all my questions (probably hundres of them, none of wich have to do with this build)

A very nice MOC! While I find the shape of the tower interesting, the stonework pattern falls a little short in my eyes. Too blocky maybe? The rest of the build is fantastic. The path, bridge, rock work, and vegetation all look great (especially the path in my opinion). I look forward to more!

Excellent build Titus! The path and vegetation are very nice, and the bridge is great as well! I really like the texture you have captured with the tower, and the shield and corners on top are some excellent details! I agree with MN that the rock-work would look a little better if it was less blocky, but overall this is a very nice build!

This build looks really good, the path and the bridge (with the head light bricks placed sideways  ) are fantastic. The rock work is fine, the tower has a nice shape, but I think the edges of the tower have a unnatural overhang. Very nice moc overall :classic::thumbup:

Thank you all for the fine comments! About the rockwork: i first did the square with the path, but for the square with the tower i had to race a lack of bricks (that's why i used a BURPS there)

Very nice build, Titus! Good to know that someone is tending to our defenses - be assured that Beorthan will much appreciate any warning, and be ready to ride out to your aid with all the forces he can muster!

It is really nice how you have made this build fit into the current political situation (and how you include me in your stories too! ), which really helps tie Historica together!

The tower looks great - the wooden sections are nice, and the texture of the stonework is well done too. Your landscaping, especially the path and the bridge, is fantastic.

My only criticism is the way the two things fit together - the overhang looks blocky and less than capable of withstanding a siege (and where is the cellar? )

Keep the good builds coming! Looking forward to seeing more of Drond's Feelds!
