Ruse901 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I know many of us were disappointed at the news of the re-release of Winter Village Toy Shop. I was certainly included in that group. That being said, buying and building the new winter set is one of my favorite LEGO traditions. In fact, every year we take out all of our winter sets and re-build them. It will pain me to pass on it this year and just build the sets I already have. So...I think that we should have a competition! I think that we should have an alternative competition where we take the new set and see what we can turn it into. I know Eurobricks has had some awesome winter village competitions in the past and they have been huge hits. I think this would fit right in! Quote
LegoSjaak Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 One of the rules should be that it may NEVER look a bit like the 'Winter Village Toy Shop'........ Quote
finish-last Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 So: Rule 1: Everything winter village style, except a toyshop. Rule 2: Only parts allowed which are included in the set, later we need instructIons for the winner set. We need the official parts list first. Quote
BrickOn Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Wouldn't everyone have to buy the new set to enter? This sounds like a very cunning plan to up the sales of the re-released set... but I am in. Quote
brickgrrl Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Sounds like fun, but maybe you could allow use of either the old or new set inventory? Quote
finish-last Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 This sounds like a very cunning plan to up the sales of the re-released set... but I am in. Oh, look! There's a giant bird behind you! *runs to van with lego logo and drives away* Maybe we can allow LDD this time with the official brick list, so you don't have to buy it. Isn't LDD capable of creating building instructions as well? HM. Quote
Ruse901 Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 I think LDD would be fair for a contest like this because the true spirit of the competiton is to see new builds and expand our own Winter Villages. It couldn't be official until we see the parts list for sure. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Interesting idea. But what about people who have no idea how to create instructions and who can't use ldd? Otherwise I like the idea Quote
finish-last Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I think lots of people are complaining but still getting the set, the others can use LDD or maybe their old toyshop but that would mean some different parts. If we allow both versions we would get more entries. So I guess with the 2015 set you can always rebuild anyting which was built using the first toy shop. So if it's about changing the 2015 set to something better, it will be fair to allow both. For the instructions you can always take pictures. Rule 1: Everything winter village style, except a toyshop. Rule 2: Only parts allowed which are included in the OLD or NEW set, later we need instructIons for the winner set. We need the new parts list or the old parts list. Old parts list: http://brickset.com/...ntories/10199-1 Edited August 27, 2015 by finish-last Quote
mampepin Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Will this be a thing? I think it is a fantastic idea! Quote
