Zepher Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 I kinda like it better this way. If there was one great moment pre-Quest 56 it would be pointless for it to win the exact same category again. Me too - I thought I was veto'd on that front though when we discussed it a while back. Someone tell me who to vote for. Quote
Zepher Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 WBD, just to clarify your response to JimBee's question, we don't have to just vote for one person per category, yah? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 WBD, just to clarify your response to JimBee's question, we don't have to just vote for one person per category, yah? Ah, I read his question wrong, I thought he meant can one person be nominated for multiple categories. So the answer to JimB's question is actually no, sorry for the confusion. Quote
Zepher Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Sorry to keep bumping this topic, but it really is absurd how long this game has been going... and how many memories I've forgotten... for example, the first quest we can vote on is Karie's first quest. That alone is kind of absurd to me. I've known Karie for years. And like, some of the stuff that's been introduced since we last voted. I don't think Pie had even hosted a quest last time around, or if he had it was just the one. Going back I found a bunch of quests I'd nearly totally forgotten about - The Syndicate Quest. The Hook on the Other Hand. Even Unblinking Eye of Terror I'd nearly totally forgotten about. Also, what are we counting most "WTF" moment as? Like, most shocking? Biggest twist? Most out of character? Most disturbing? Quote

Most out of character? Most disturbing? Any and all of the above. Yeh looking back since the last Henrys we still had Wren, the Regret, and Steerpike running around. From a mechanics stand point we didn't have the Ethereal type or the Veteran Job Classes, Dain Almight's shop didn't exist, and no one had ever heard of Decamon, The classes definitely changed with Rogues receiving the biggest nerf to their gold gaining abilities and knights gaining the deflective trait, mages and clerics now had to pay for their shield rolls with ether. The years after the last Henrys gave us insight into the history of Heroica with Cruel Angel's Thesis, we learned more about Baba, issues within the houses became more strained with the called off Hinckwell/Shadeaux marriage, the coup by the Ji Pei, changes in command of the Bonapartes and the demon dealings of the Ziegfrieds. We had the tumultuous events of the War in Baltarok, the first Halloween Anthology, and most recently the introduction of secondary characters. Quote
Zepher Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 And mobs! Was that your idea, WBD? From what, the Message in the Bag of Holding? Quote
CMP Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That's the one. I thought they were great so I brought them back in Quest 129, and it seems like they've caught on. Quote
Zepher Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Yeah they're working out well for me in 139. I like that they're threatening at first, but then they dove-tail well in the end of the battle so it doesn't drag. They are a bit more to keep track of, but worth it. They also make it so that the battles can stay challenging, but the heroes aren't fighting really strong rats - I think it's important story-wise. It also makes even more so drives home the fact that they apparently massacre whole groups of people they don't like. Quote
CMP Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Most importantly it fractures the one-hit-AoE-slaughter-everything-attack. Quote
Zepher Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Clearly you haven't hosted two dragoons and two marauders at the same time. They still one hit KO mobs pretty easy. Quote
CMP Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I'm talking about attacks that hit every enemy. Those are the worst. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Thank you for bumping this. I completely forgot. Not sure how much I will be able to read through past quest now, though, as I can't access the internet on my personal computer, so I need to wait for another one to be free. So many good memories though. Quote
Zepher Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Yeah, I really advise it to anyone who has the chance/time - even skimming helps to really jog the memory! A lot of my votes were for newer quests, and then I re-read some older ones that just had to replace some newer ones - lots of golden moments and quests throughout the last few years. Quote

Yeah, the Fields would definitely still be suffering "train to loot-town" syndrome if it weren't for mobs. We also got the Dragoon split, which I would argue is probably the biggest class improvement we've seen all game, as well as a TON of new Expert classes. I think as of the last Henrys we only had Skirmisher, Regulator, and maybe Winged Warrior? Was Infiltrator around yet or was that after 56? Quote
Kintobor Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Can I get a motion for "Most Improved Role Player"? I feel as if we should as a community acknowledge people who's roleplaying has improved over the years, and not just "best all around". Quote

Waterbrick Down Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 3 Days left to vote and I only have 10 ballots so far. Quote
Zepher Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 People should vote! Even if they have incomplete ballots! Though, that being said, I'm still working on completing mine. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 submitted mine, hopefully I did it right. Quote
Flipz Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yeah, I just submitted my ballot and then edited it later on as I figured out more categories. There's still like 8 or so I just can't decide on. Quote
Khorne Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I'm going to vote, I just had some busy days. My brain also messed up the date and I thought I had time until the 9th of september. Silly American date-reversal system, makes me all confused ! EDIT: Votes have been sent in Edited September 1, 2015 by Khorne Quote
Sandy Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I'm also voting as soon as possible. I'm borrowing my friends computer again today, so I hope to get a lot of updating done. Quote
Mencot Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I shall also vote soon but been a bit busy to go through all the stuff again. Not easy to know who and what to vote in all of them. Any good hinters. Quote
Zepher Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I'm still having trouble with some of them as well. Most Humorous Moment? Best Battle? Antagonistic NPC? Best Plot Twist? And then those there are too many good options for: Friendly NPC?? Those are the ones I have left, at least. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 This is why I hope to make this more of an annual thing to prevent the glut of quests that one has to remember. 2 days left and we don't even have half the number of active players votes yet. Quote
