Takkata Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 "They told me there would be skulls! Geez, what a misplaced name.." A LEGO Pirates Island. What better place to dock your pirate ship than an tropical Island? Islands always seem to have a fantastic history behind them, it provides a real sense of adventure! The set, unlike many traditional LEGO Pirate sets, would be focused more around the island itself, landscaping would take priority over manmade structures and boats. Gary The Procrastinator Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Magnificent! Everything is so well done. Great eye for detail such as submerging the back half of the jolly boat and the islander totems. Quote
deraven Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 So great. The cave shapes and those brick-built trees are fantastic. Nice application of greenery overall, too. My only criticism is that, even with the build video, I wish you had more pictures posted of these creations so we could take in the details more closely! Quote
blackdeathgr Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That water... That flora too... magnificent Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 ... That everything. Sorry, no constructive criticism here, since every emphatic praise of one great feature would mean to disregard those I didn't mention... Brick on! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Great to see that you are back. An excellent creation once again. Where are the monkeys? Quote
Staslegomaster Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 It's an eye-catching masterpiece, worth the time. And it's even difficult to choose which part of it is the best. I like the playability of your creation and that you combined a few different ideas in one set. Please compare yours to my Pirate battle island and Soldier's Arsenal. Perhaps we can exchange building techniques because I admire some of your ideas. Quote
Blufiji Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Now that's a paradise! Echoing others, the water, flora and rock work are outstanding. Quote
Turkey Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Way nice! I like the cave. I would've died for a set like this as a kid. Playability would have been excellent Quote
Plaid Beard Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Excellent work! Your details are incredible! Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Outstanding work! Some of the best rock work I have seen, and the water is very nicely done. Quote
Hobbythom Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Awesome build. The vegetatiob is simply perfect! Quote
gcanik Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 The coloration of the water w/ the layered tiles is spot on...also digging the carved look of the bilateral stone carvings. Quote
Frozen Assasin Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Awesome build but..that's not the right skull island. It is way too peacefull and stuff... Quote
ManInATopHat Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 This is insanely good. The gates, beach, and water is just fantastic. The skull is amazing. I love how you made it look rocky and realistic and didn't just build an actual skull. Outstanding work! Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I love the way you made the skull! Quote
Borex Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 The teeth of the skull in the water are great. Now i'm curious what is in the cave :-( Quote
parksroad Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Gorgeous! The brick-build skull island sets (Skull Island, Volcano Island, Treasure Island) have always been my favorite pirate sets. Wonderful work :D Quote
BricksMcgee Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Brilliant rock work - looks very natural. Quote
BrickOn Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Amazing, I am loving the skull's teeth in the water... very scary looking! And the water... and the foliage... all so good! One day I will have enough grey bricks to attempt this. The teeth of the skull in the water are great. Now i'm curious what is in the cave :-( My thoughts exactly, something must be lurking in one of those caves... More pics please!!! Quote
FatTina Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Incredible! How much pre-planning did that take? Quote
