I don't know why they are called Brickmasters, but they appear to be something unrelated to the magazine that you can buy separately. The Dorling Kinderley site says they'll be released on the 3rd of August.

Hmmm - next question...

For widespread release? Or are these more (insert country here) exclusives? Or maybe they'll be attached to a magazine?

All three August 2009 sets popped up at LEGOLAND, California today, I bought King's Battle Chariot and Drawbridge Defense, but not the Troll's Dark Fortress. I just couldn't afford to get it along with all the other things I bought today, so I didn't snap a picture of it.

Wow that's great, will you be doing a review of the sets?

The chariot still doesn't look that great to me, seems like it's flimsy and just kind of thrown together. Maybe it's better when built?

I might. I'd really like to, but I've been extremely busy lately. Things will be winding down for me in the next week or so, so if no one else has done it by then, I probably will. Might even get the Troll's Fortress tomorrow. We'll see. :classic:

Great to see that the new sets are out! (even if it's a long way from my place  )

I really hope you find time to make a review of the Drawbridge Defence, it looks really good.

What did the sets cost?

They are attached to the themed Brickmasters books, which have nothing to do with the US-only magazines. I have no idea where the books will be sold, but Amazon ships books worldwide, so getting them shouldn't be too hard.

So I couldn't resist and had to go buy the Troll's Mountain Fortress. Here are some pictures.

By the way, for those who asked earlier, the prices are as follows:

King's Battle Chariot - $19.99 USD

Drawbridge Defense - $39.99 USD

Troll's Mountain Fortress - $99.99 USD

So anyways, here are some pictures of the box. I haven't opened it yet, but I might do a review in a week or so. I feel so much pressure from the EB community having these sets and having to review them all! :classic:

That set looks real impressive imo. Definitely the most tempting set of the 09 Castle line.

Yeah, I absolutely can't wait to build it. It's interesting to see how structurally similar it is to the King's Castle Siege. Anyone who has built that might notice. Since I got those from Wal-Mart for $25 each I've had the pleasure of building 3 of the 4 I bought. :classic:

Ouch, those prices seem a little inflated...$20 for 103 pieces?! I was going to consider getting the drawbridge if it was around $30, but I guess I'll wait for all these until there is some kind of sale (even a little sale will do  ).

The box art for the Troll Mountain Fortress looks superbly spooky with all those spindly, evil-looking trees to add some much-needed atmosphere.

It's a shame some of those didn't make it into the set itself

Ooh! New tattered cape awesome-ness! I love capes!

The Drawbridge Defense reminds me of an old drawbridge castle set, except with much more interesting figures. I'm sure I won't get the troll fortress, but it looks fantastic!

I can't wait to see those new Castle sets in stores In Australia.

I also cannot wait for those reviews... Can we get the drawbridge one first? That set is the one I would probably buy the first because of the queen and jester and the Gold knight.

I like the tattered cape. This will do for my planned custom Ragman figure for my Batman/Gotham collection without having to attack a standard cape with scissors.

Shame TLC didn't take the opportunity to do the hood and cape combo in Dark Green - then it would have been perfect (and I think would have gone better with the trolls) - I live in hope that elves will be produced with at least one dark green hood cape combo.

Still a brown version is perfectly legit - just not as good.

The fortress kicks megablocks.

I hope these will land in Europe soon - before the Event in 9 days would be great.

Thanks for sharing the pics and prices with us

Now get working on those reviews

Awww, lovely castle sets. I am falling in love with the Troll Fortress, and I can't wait to get my hands on those. Too bad, Singapore will only receive these sets around August period. Talking about long wait. :hmpf:

Seriously, I can't wait to see your reviews. By any chance, are you intending to work those inside the academy?

I'm a bit disappointed that the troll fortress isn't made entirely out of wood. Somehow this one doesn't strike me as trollish and looks a bit generic. It would be better if everything was in the style of the door. The shaman looks cool, but I'm not sure I'll be getting this one.

The bridge defense looks nice. I remember seeing pictures of it with a queen. Probably some preliminaries ... ?

And lastly, these sets kinda destroy my hopes of an elven line. Oh, well, I gotta live with that ... :)

Yes, it's still there. Take a look upwards, where the jester is located.

Ha ha, yep, cowardly queen :) She might be the difference for me , between buying it and not buying it ... :)
