I Scream Clone Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Castle 2009 Inventories are on BrickLink. And the king's torso looks sweet!: Here's a few links 7078 No inventory yet 7079 subject to approval 7097 subject to approval I like the look of some of the pieces from 7097, very useful. Quote
Svelte Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 According to the inventories, 7079 includes this fig: There's not a great deal that's new apart from the fab minifigs. Some new bits in dark brown for 7097 but too much dark bley to really coordinate with last year's sets, at least to my way of thinking. Looking at the fig price guides, the Troll Witch and Troll King have already sold for $US25 each Quote
Sir Dillon Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Thanks for letting us know UsernameMDM. I've merged your topic into the Castle sets 08/09 topic. Quote
metalandi Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 So, the new sets have inly showed up in the US till now, right? Just wanna make sure i didn't miss anything, since i didn't have so much time lately. Quote
Holy Diver Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The King's Chariot looks a little too heavy for just that one horse to pull. Quote
Etzel Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 The King's Chariot looks a little too heavy for just that one horse to pull. It's still better than this Quote
gogobig Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 A bit neutral about king's chariot. I didnt see it being $20, more like $10. As for drawbridge and trolls fortress I will make sure I pick up one of each Quote

Sirtank Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) I picked up a second Chariot yesterday for a mod. It looks better with two horses, and I can always use more trolls and shields. I also picked up the power miners Crystal King to use as a stone golem for my crownies to fight. Edited May 19, 2009 by Sirtank Quote
daxflame680 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 It's only $20 because of the king minifigure... Don't forget the octagonal shield and wagon wheels But $20 is still too much. Especially for a Chariot this ugly. I'll probably somehow convince myself to get this set though. Quote
Sandy Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I also picked up the power miners Crystal King to use as a stone gollum for my crownies to fight. You must mean a "golem", right? Gollum was a character in the Lord of the Rings. But a nice idea, anyway, I've been thinking about doing the same. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Surely someone has bought the chariot and fortress buy now. Where are the reviews?! Quote
gogobig Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 It's only $20 because of the king minifigure... Im not sure about you mate, but I am becoming a bit dissapointed with all these king minifigures. They made so many of them and some of them are really similar. Instead of the king, they could have thrown in another horse or a guard. I still dont think it is worth $20 Quote

I still dont think it is worth $20 I doubt the king fig has that much to do with price. Drawbridge Defence has exclusive figs without being so pricey. I for one think it's great that the King fig has been included in one of the smaller sets. Not all kids can afford the massive flagship Castle so this lets them have access to the King at a cheaper pricepoint. When was the last King figure released? 2007 in King's Castle Siege? That set was only available on store shelves for a month or two in Australia, so there are probably a lot of younger builders out there who would like to add him to their collection. Also, 2 years isn't much for AFOLs but is practically a geological era for kids Is it too hard to use the special printing and build up a special Royal Guard if for some reason you do find yourself with an excess of King figs? I personally don't like this set much but I don't think all the king-bashing is justified. Quote
gogobig Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I doubt the king fig has that much to do with price. Drawbridge Defence has exclusive figs without being so pricey. Agree! When was the last King figure released? 2007 in King's Castle Siege? That set was only available on store shelves for a month or two in Australia, so there are probably a lot of younger builders out there who would like to add him to their collection. 1995-royal king, king's carriage and royal knight's castle 2000-King Leo, King Leo's castle, and royal just 2004-the castle of Morcia and the grand tournament 2005-kings siege tower 2006- Mistlands tower 2007-kings castle siege The new king is a great addition to younger builders-completely agree on this one. However, AFOL might not find it as brilliant as younger builders would due to the possesion of many other sets that contain a king already. However, some AFOL might absolutely love this set and some might not. A lot of personal preference is involved in this statment. I would rather see another horse thn a king. Is it too hard to use the special printing and build up a special Royal Guard if for some reason you do find yourself with an excess of King figs? It is not too hard. I already did it with King of 1995 and 2004. same with Captian redbeard in the pirates line. It is just my personal preference, thats all. Quote

Well, we had an AFOL oriented Advent Calendar last year, and the 10193 Medieval Market Village this year, so I don't think Castle AFOL fans are doing too badly. The occasional set designed to appeal to kids doesn't bother me Parts-wise it's one of those sets that all you really need is an AAT (for the curved navy blue) and some bricklinked giant wheels and you could build this at home from existing parts if you were curious (but not curious enough to fork over $20 for it). KimT Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Meeeeeow! All those of you who said this fig was bad - shame on you! This is the most awesome Castle fig in a long time. I am soo getting a lot of this one. Imagine an army of golden knights- what could possibly go wrong with that? I can't wait to get my hands on this new wave and hearing that it's been spotted in stores is really good (and bad for my wallet) Thanks for sharing those links and pictures. Quote
The Cobra Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 These people just imagined an army of such golden knights. Quote
Derek Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 These people just imagined an army of such golden knights. Hahahahahahahhahahahahah! I personally agree with Kim T, it is an all around great figure. Printed legs, printed on the back of the torso, great armor, great helmet, and a not-too-common head for once. Even if you wanted a duplicate figure, you could keep the armor off of one and still have two awesome figures. Quote
Dadster Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Surely someone has bought the chariot and fortress buy now. Where are the reviews?! I'd be too busy fighting my MF's!! Quote
