iamded Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I think the Castle Advent Calendar is perfect for the end of year special set. I bet none of us guessed it would be that. :-D As for my priorities; Castle (Dwarves Mine and Impulse sets) Star Wars Imperial Dropship Bricklink (post-Apoc army building) Rest of Castle X-D ~Peace Quote
TheFrisian Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 There are a few sets that I would love to get this year. First of all the Troll Battle Wheel, it's not only an awesome set, but it also looks like a very interesting and fun model to build. Then there is the Troll Assault Wagon, which is a basic siege weapon but still very nice. And if I can spare the money I'm so getting the Dwarves Mine, best source of some great Dwarf minifigs! Aside from that, I'll probably get some Impulse soldiers & Orcs to bolster my armies. All in all it looks like it's going to be a very VERY expensive year for me :-$ Quote
jifel Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 What country are you in? Because i know that only one shop over here has castle, due to an agreement between themselves and lego. u.s. i wont say anything more specific. and let me clarify no new castle, theyhad lots of older stuff and a cool display jifel Quote
Batbrick Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Bricklink (post-Apoc army building) I like your style archnemesis! *y* I had forgotten about bricklink, I need to use it to obtain your torso, and old skeletons. Batbrick is Back! >:-) Quote
Brainbox Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Trying to barely stay on topic here, but is everyone happy with the Advent Calender being the special item? I am. For one thing, it's a bit different. Normally, the special item is a large-ish set, with some sort of semi-exclusive appeal, like a new fig or some chrome pieces or something. But this should be relatively cheap, and has nine figures, three of them all-new. I wonder what will fill the other 15 days? I certaintly am, not to mention it confirms Harley *wub* As I mentioned over in the Batman '08 thread, it certainly does. It looks like a very nice piece. :-D You are thinking of Dwarfs Mining :-D Dwarfsmine Defence is the small set with two trolls, a dwarf and his catapult. Dwarfs Mine Defender A very nice set, by the way. Quote
Vader Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 u.s. i wont say anything more specific. and let me clarify no new castle, theyhad lots of older stuff and a cool displayjifel Well i have no idea about the U.S as i'm in England, but i haven't heard of the U.S having any problems finding new castle sets. Batbrick Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I am. For one thing, it's a bit different. Normally, the special item is a large-ish set, with some sort of semi-exclusive appeal, like a new fig or some chrome pieces or something. But this should be relatively cheap, and has nine figures, three of them all-new. Good points there, thats probably one of the biggest reasons why I am so happy about it. I was expecting a giant mega set or something, which I would want but couldn't afford, but this is perfect. Plus, being cheap, it will slip in good on my S@H orders. I wonder what will fill the other 15 days? Thats what I was wondering, though frankly, looking at that Harley Quinn to-be headpeice, who cares? :-D Seriously, I would guess a couple of sets for each character, like with the City Advent Calender, but only one set to the skellies and crownies, as they already have two men. Or something. As I mentioned over in the Batman '08 thread, it certainly does. It looks like a very nice piece. It does indeed, and useful too. How many castle fans were pining for Harley Quinn so they could get their own jester, and then exploded when they swa this? I like the way the two tails (for lack of a better word) of the hat curve and then bend down, looks great. Dwarfs Mine DefenderA very nice set, by the way. Oh, close enough. I love the set in that I love the fig selection, I was hoping for a good way to ensure plenty of dwarves, but plenty more trolls to overwhelm them. The catapult looks "meh" but it looks like I get my favourite peice- the chain ( *wub* )- in it, and atleast I'll have more parts to put in storage. Batbrick is Back! >:-) Quote

brickzone Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 One of the main toy retailers here in Ireland, Smyth's Toys, has some of the 2008 Castle Sets now up on their online catalogue Lego section here, including ones not yet on S@H. They won't be available till 10 March though. The interesting thing for those outside Ireland may be the prices, as Smyth's is usually RRP/S@H price. Of course, maybe someone has posted prices here already, I don't know. Anyways, prices are as follows: Dwarves' Mine Defender: Quote

Batbrick Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 New pics! i think.....Sorry if these are old! U_T They're new to me! Nice find U_T, Thanks! *sweet* I'm very interested in the features on that Dwarf Catapult, I think iamded was right about a mechanism. But it looks like only one boat is included in the Trollship now :'-( Batbrick is Back! >:-) Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Thanks Username Taken *wub* The lighting in these pics are pretty strange, o you can't make out as much, but has the orc below the siege tower got grey handcuffs on? Looks great *sweet* The tower attack is one of the first castle sets on my priority list. Plenty of figs, a nice addition to the castle siege, and a great looking siege tower. Quote

Pate-keetongu Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I really love the mechanism in Dwarves' Mine Defender! Dwarves sets are must buy to me! so stupid that Mine Defender has only ONE dwarves and two troll warriors. Quote
Batbrick Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 so stupid that Mine Defender has only ONE dwarves and two troll warriors. I like it that way, so I can build up a massive evil army thats larger than the goodguy one! *skull* Batbrick is Back! >:-) Quote

zz-80 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Piranha just posted this pic with some other great closeups in the Castle 08 pic index thread! Thanks Piranha! :-D Did anyone notice? Two of the Troll Warriors on each side of the "wheels" hold on to a spear and have to run to keep this battle machine moving. Nice detail TLC! A Troll-like Hamster wheel. ;-) Quote
