It's almost enough to make me forget about that Temple of Doom rumour. It's got pretty much every Castle minifig! King, Princess, Wizards good and bad, knights, archers, dwarves (!!!), skeletons, trolls, big trolls! And then there's lots of weapons and scenery! I *wub* it! Now I kinda regret ordering the king minifig seperately from Bricklink. Oh well. Perhaps he's got a brother who wears a golden armour too, haha. Huge chess sets with almost every minifig totally ON! *y* Well, the Viking chess set included glued minifigs and glued chess board. The recent castle chess had no glued minifigs, but a glued board. I think this one it is safe to presume there is no board glue, as the construction is to thorough for packaging ;-) I agree with you too though, there is practically every new castle fig there! Loads of great dwarves (brown beards!), and heaps of orcs, trolls, and fantasy to go up against the loads of soldiers and archers. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

Sure, it looks amazing, but honestly, a bit too amazing, like the mad dream of an AFOL with some spare time. When was the last time LEGO produced anything with quite that much completely unnecessary detail? Why keep making chess sets when even the last one, which was pretty good, is already selling for $10 off regularly, and will probably end up clearanced out like all the rest? That said, there is only one way I can see this happening, and it's a stretch... They produce it as a set, instead of as a game. Literally, a big build-it-yourself parts fest battlepack like no one has ever seen before. Otherwise, imagine the packaging nightmare of all those prebuilt structures and minifigs needing to be kept in little compartments, etc. So here's to hoping that they finally listened to the griping about glued pieces and the general desire to minifigs and are trying something new. Count on $100 minimum and S@H/LEGO Store exclusive, even if we are lucky enough to see this. Crazy Chess Set On! *y* Quote

Yeah might be, but somehow I do believe that it's true. Same photograph technique, some weird ideas like the small poles (or whatever) the dwarfs are standing on (I already thought that it could be magnetic :-D) only TLC could come up with. I guess time will tell... Anyone with good eyes spotting parts that have not yet been released? ;-) PS: take a closer look at the pic and follow the url. Somehow looks authentic too me. If you look at the size of the set, there are actually 576 black & white tiles needed simply to cover the chess board 8- Quote

I mean, accesories all around the sides, great landscaped borders and bases, actual towers/horses for rooks/knights, thrones for king/queen - Look, even a mining gorund to add to Dwarf Mining and a dragon head coming out of the side. No, this has to be an MOC. However, if this is a real set, my respect for TLC has greatly improved *wub* EDIT: Looking at those instructions, the orc siege tower doesn't look as good as I first thought. The huge wheels make it look far too bulky at the bottom, and the top is plain. However, the working bridge and ram make up for that. The tower looks pretty good, I love the new cage doors and the table with crystal looks nice. Does anyone know if the wall at the bottom is supposed to fall over? It has two technic pins and tiles, so I'm supposing so.. The Attackship looks better than expected, I like the spikes coming out from the cabin and the way the two small boats can attach to the sides. the cage and drum is nice too. I'm still not too sure about the dragon though, and that spring fire missile launcher won't be going anywhere near my ship :-/ Nice to get the hull in the new brown too :-) Edited February 5, 2008 by TinyPiesRUs Quote

A huge Castle Chess! *sweet* whoa!!!!!! not only will i be getting multiple of the chess set, i will actually be keeping one intact! it's good enough to play chess with! whoa!!!! so elaborately built. i guess TLC really does listen to AFOLS! finally we get brick built rooks and actual knights! woo hoo!!! on closer look...why are the king and queen holding goblets? shouldn't they be holding scepters? :-D btw, the giant trolls are bishops not knights. death knights are the knights. i kinda doubt it is going to be $150. more like $100. it is elaborate, i will give you that, but is it worth $100 more than the current set? given the new parts, i am thinking there is about 500-600 more pieces, so probably $100. oh, and i guess ogel is no longer a necrophile...he now has willa the witch as queen. :-P Quote
