WhiteFang Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I'll have to agree with that. We only got very few dwarves this year, and too many orcs in comparison, I hope we can get more next year. I must agreed that dwarves is relatively less compared to the orcs fraction. Let's compare it in numbers, of the total Castle sets that are released this year 2008. 7036 Dwarf Mine (4 dwarves) (2 orcs) 7037 Tower Raid (0 dwarves) (3 orcs) 7038 Troll Assault Wagon (0 dwarves) (1 orc) 7040 Dwarf Mine Defender (1 dwarf) (2 orcs) 7041 Troll Battle Wheel (0 dwarves) (3 orcs) 7048 Troll Warship (1 dwarf) (6 orcs) Total (6 dwarves) (17 orcs) This is the above breakdown. Among these sets, Dwarf Mine Defender commands the lowest price. That's why for me, I have bought 6 defender so far and this number will increase, just to build my dwarves army. By buying this set, you are able to get two additional orcs too. *Upcoming Castle Giant Chess set (8 dwarves) (8 orcs) Quote
iamded Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I don't mind the whole Dwarf:Troll ratio, as I really can't picture a large army of Dwarves, I see them more as inventors in machines, yet an army of trolls I can picture. Another thing, I don't think we've actually gotten confirmation of elves. I will be thoroughly disappointed if next year rolls by and passes on the elves. I bet no one would be expecting that. ~Peace Quote

I usually don't buy multiples, but the idea is tempting for other people. When you think about it though... one more Orc and you've got a 1:3 fight! Really nice! Orc Warship vs. Dwarf Mine Defender everyone! *SWOOSH* *BOOM* Quote
Tacitus Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Just a little FYI, if it hasn't be reported yet. The new Castle sets are now available at the US S@H. People have been spotting them at TRU, and at the TRU website, but now, at least as of 1:55am, there officially on sale by LEGO. Finally. Quote
Dovchenko Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Bringing back the Chess Topic again: is anyone seriously buying it? I want it. I have never played chess, so I tried it on my computer. I'm okay. I've lost every battle but hardly, and I really enjoy it anyways. Ah well... what if it becomes a LEGO classic? A good set, not just a specialty 200$ masterpiece? As loved as the DS and as praised as the MF? I'd buy it then. I love the ideas- the idea's good, but the price isn't. Quote
hollisbrick Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Will the battle packs be availible in normal stores eg TRU Big W etc. or will they only be availible on S@H??? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Will the battle packs be availible in normal stores eg TRU Big W etc. or will they only be availible on S@H??? Its a tough one hey! hopefully someone from another country that already has the 2008 line out can tell us? Its hard to see them being only S@H as they have the feel of impulse sets, so they may even reach woolworths etc. Quote

Where in Aus. do you live? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Do you get impulses in your woolworths? Where in Aus. do you live? Wollongong (just south of Sydney) sixth biggest city in Aus (with a recently sacked corrupt local council....ooooh so seemy, just like Underbelly) Quote
iamded Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Will the battle packs be availible in normal stores eg TRU Big W etc. or will they only be availible on S@H??? Well, it doesn't say 'exclusive' on S@H, well the NZ one anyway, but I still haven't seen any in stores. We'll see. ~Peace Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I had brought battlepacks, 2 months ago. (I think) Got it in one of the stores in my country. But they snapped out very very fast. Now waiting for the next shipment, which is a long waiting time. Quote
robbo Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Do you get impulses in your woolworths? Where in Aus. do you live? there are quite a few of the impulse sets in my local safeway (woolsworths) here in Warrnambool. they include the good wizard and the knight. Quote

robbo Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 oh i dont mind the grocery shopping ..specially when i can sneak a impulse set in now and then....lol...my wife dosnt even notice the small sets. Quote
legobear Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) The highlights should ALWAY be good guys right? I think that's where LEGO has gone wrong this year. When in the history of Legos did the evil faction dominate the good guys? Why not Call it ORCS a separate theme altogether. There, u rightly supplement it with measely dwarves. Give 'em a dwarves mine as a special edition, and it all fits in in the theme of ORCS, not castle. My biggest gripe is this, lots and lots and lots of people want dwarves. If bricklink wasn't so expensive selling pieces like one dollar beards, $1 short legs (good luck trying to find 12 of them at this price), $1 helmets etc. I wouldn't be so sad.......cuz I know most people say forget it LEGO, bricklink speaks to me, not you. But bricklink is too expensive for dwarf pieces now, so I'm not biting. Lego won't put out mainly dwarves sets, god knows why (besides $60 dollars for 4 dwarves)!!! Did they seriously seriously think they will make MORE money by selling ORCs than regular castle factions like the crowned knights? When we're all done collecting we're going to have like a TON of ORCs...too many for my liking. I prefer 2007, when u can get TWO good guys and one skeleton (good versus bad) for 5.99. Now, u can get 2 ORCs (bad versus good) with one dwarf for $9.99. Did they jack up the price? Who wants a bunch of mine defenders, 10 dwarves for $100 dollars. I aint biting this year, I'm disappointed, I LOVE LOVE fantasy, drive it all on me, but just sell me the line following a guideline where you sell what fans want, the dwarves. Highlight the heroes, sell those as the main thing. At least they have the advent calendar right, dear god ($30 dollars though hahaahah price went up). OHHHHH and for the elves.......please just sell the elves in 2009....mainly sell the elves not an ORC elf or something. Finally, please sell at least two elves per pack, don't repeat the mine defender. Change 2009 back into Good versus Evil. Edited May 23, 2008 by legobear Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Well, I actually don't mind it. I actually WANT the Orcs so I can have an army of them. I could see the possibility of trading Dwarfs for orcs. Who knows, there might even be a Dwarf impulse set soon enough, we have one for all the other factions, except maybe skeletons (I can't remember). Quote
illspace Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 I didnt read to see if this was posted, but TRU has all new castle sets including Dwarf Mine in Dallas Texas areas. Sorry if its a repost. Quote

WhiteFang Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 any chance of a reveiw? I thought Battlepacks does not require a review. Since it's a request, I will try and do one up soon, and hope to post it by today if possible. I will be doing a skeleton battlepack review then. Quote

radiant7 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 there are quite a few of the impulse sets in my local safeway (woolsworths) here in Warrnambool.they include the good wizard and the knight. I've seen them at Woolworths around Brisbane, Queensland as well. It's a torso-height orange cardboard stand, usually near the fruits & vegetables section where there's a bit of space. I saw the Mars Mission impulse sets there too, but it's been a while since I went to Woolworths so I'm sure there are Castle impulse packs now. Quote

Instructions for those who have forgotten about these sets. Sorry for the large pics, but I figured the resizer would do it's job to keep the thread tidy, and if you wanted a good view of the build, you can click the image to see a bigger version. ~Peace Quote
