Dovchenko Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Is anyone actually devoted to buying this chess set? I might, if I know I'm not the only person. It's a great looking chessboard and I sorta like Chess... losing all of the time or not. Either way, it'll be a fun build right? 299.99 is a lot for chess, and sure the piece count for the price could be somewhat better... but it looks to me like an instant hit/classic. Quote

I am defintely getting this Caste Chess set, no matter what. If possible, I am determined to get at least 2 sets. I am not sure how much will it cost in my homeland because we can't buy it at S@H. Nevertheless, I am always a collector of mini-figs (army building) and always a castle fan at heart. I am not sure about building it. I am quite sure, most of it are actually pre-built, or display the figures at the front, when you opened the cover. The building of the realms and the board might actually required some building. frogstudio Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I will surely buy it... so at least it will two of us... :) Quote
metalandi Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 As posted in the new pirate minifigs thread, i'm gonna post the pics here also where you can see the torso of the new jester fig and the maiden which are both included in the avent calendar: Quote
I Scream Clone Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 thanks metalandi, i actually hadn't been brave enough to venture into the pirates thread yet the jester torso looks cool! and the witch aint bad either. Maiden On! Quote

Sorry, had to do it. Those mix ups are sure weird. I like the jester with Dr Inferno’s hair, however. Shakar Quote
Pencoin Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 i know what you mean if toys r us get a display wrong i have to fix it for them just wondering but i hope there is a bonus santa minifig in the advent caldender, it aint complete with out santa Quote
Sandy Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 just wondering but i hope there is a bonus santa minifig in the advent caldender, it aint complete with out santa Well, the case only says "9 minifigs", which are all portrayed in the cover already, and there's no Santa amongst them. To my knowledge, there was no Santa minifig in last year's City calender either. In my opinion the old Santa minifig is nothing special anyway. I could build one with the pieces I currently own already. Quote
Pencoin Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 last years did have a santa i know it says only 9 but look in the sky i msure it could be a surprise bonus Quote
Sandy Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) last years did have a santa No. I remembered correctly, the 2007 Advent Calendar did not come with a Santa minifig. Read the comments: http://brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=7907-1 I'm just saying you shouldn't get your hopes up. If it had a tenth minifig, of course they would've said that. Sandy Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 hmm i had it and im sure it had one... Well, perhaps you're mixing it up with the Advent Calendar of 2006 or 2005, because those did include the Santa. Anyway, the contents of this year's City Advent Calendar have leaked to the internet (there's even a topic about it here at EB), so perhaps it won't be long till we see all the cool things that come with the Castle calendar. I'm guessing at least a cauldron for the witch, heh! Quote
iamded Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I'm guessing at least a cauldron for the witch, heh! And hopefully a spell book too. I haven't got a single Lego book... Please, Castle Advent Calendar, give me a book! ~Peace Quote
Derek Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Poor bookless iamded. Why do you want one of these so badly, they're not that great... dp Quote
The Brick Rat Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I've wanted a Castle themed advent calendar for several years now, so I'm very pleased that we're finally getting one. However, I am a little bummed that we're not getting a Santa fig with it. I'd happily give up the two skelly figs for one medieval looking Father Christmas. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 A medieval Santa is a great idea. I'd like to see a figure with a white dwarf beard, and perhaps a red helmet. Quote
Sandy Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 A medieval Santa is a great idea. I'd like to see a figure with a white dwarf beard, and perhaps a red helmet. Instead of helmet, I'd rather see a red wizard's hat on him. He'd be like the Good Red Wizard. Oh, and another thing I hope to get from the advent calendar is a frog. I don't have any, and I so want to add a Frog Prince to my Princess Quest comic! Quote
AmperZand Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Instead of helmet, I'd rather see a red wizard's hat on him. He'd be like the Good Red Wizard. You mean like the minifig on the left of this pic? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 You mean like the minifig on the left of this pic? Ok thats showing off and not fair , someone needs to mass produce these cool figs (or at least sell them to me ) Quote
legomilk Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 LEGO - 7979 LEGO Castle Adventskalender Oktober 2008 18,99 € Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Again thanks for the price information, legomilk! The price is here not very low, too - but there are these two great new minifigs (the jester and the medieval woman) which take interest in every real Castle fan (even in me although I really don't like the most other sets because of their fantasy contents) . But you can't really judge from now on if the price is justified since we haven't seen any pics of the contents (despite from the minifigs) yet - which I really wonder about since it is going to be released at the same time like the City one. Do you know whether the Castle Advent Calendar will be an exclusive set or will it be available in every "normal" toy shop, too? Klaus-Dieter Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 LEGO - 7979 LEGO Castle AdventskalenderOktober 2008 18,99 € [image] And why is Amazon.de selling it for 16.99€ with the shipping date 24th September? Anyway, the calender rocks! But I really wants to know what buildings we get. Quote
metalandi Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Does anybody know if this will also be available at S@H? If yes, then we might get a better description there what is in it. but i kinda doubt it, because an advent calendar normally is about getting something without knowing what it is, it before opening. blueandwhite Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 LEGO - 7979 LEGO Castle AdventskalenderOktober 2008 18,99 € I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed with the new torso for the peasant woman. I preferred the prelimnary design where she actually has her top done up. The new design looks a bit too busy and doesn't really match well with her skirt pattern. The set is still a must-have though. The peasant woman and jester alone make it worth it for me (they both will probably cost a small fortune on bricklink anyhow). I can't wait to pick a few of these up. Quote
