Dwarvenlord Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Wow, that 1592 looks amazing! I wish i had some castle sets that are before the fright knights/royal knights era... and i barely have sets from that serie! ... Quote
Hinckley Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I can't really understand that fixation with the yellow castle... I mean, thinking of it as the "classic" LEGO castle, when in fact, it was the ONLY castle to be built that way. Well, Kim pointed out 1592, but the yellow castle was the first castle. So, that's why people think of it as "classic" because it is. Quote
DJ Force Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 10193 is the time for the 2 lego castle series through a shop at home but we can bring out even more in 2009 expect that someone already knows I´d love someone to translate this, please Quote
WhiteFang Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I´d love someone to translate this, please "10193 is the time for the 2 lego castle series through a shop at home but we can bring out even more in 2009 expect that someone already knows" I am not sure if Legomilk meant this way, but I will try. 10193, Medieval Market Village is one of the 2 exclusive Castle sets from 2009 which will be available in Shop@Home. However, we will be expecting more surprises for 2009 if someone has already got hold of the information. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) I don't know if this has been already mentioned, but I found following comment on a German Lego community called lego-castle: macht euch mal keine angst die liste mit den ganzen sets ist nur für das erste halbjahr 2009http://www.1000steine.de/forum2/forum_entry.php?id=164447 den Vorab händlerkatalog habe ich ....der ist auch nur für das erste halbjahr! die 3 castlesets sind nur 2 impulspackungen und 1 kleines jubiläumsset weil die castlereihe 30 jahre alt wird!!!!! der Marktplatz ist eine 10000...er nummer und taucht in keiner liste oder bestellstatistik auf! erst im september soll eine neue untergruppierung mit 5 neuen sets kommen.....ob es tatsächlich elfen werden konnte mann mir nicht sagen! For everybody: This person mentions that: - there will be five new Castle sets in September 2009 - in the first half of 2009 there will be two Impulse sets and a little jubilee set since Lego Castle is becoming 30 years in 2009 I have no clue if this information is right or wrong - but I think it might be right. I googled Lego Castle and found out that in 1978 there was the first ever Castle set - the Yellow Castle - and firstly in 1979 there were two additional sets - a knights BP and a tournament. So perhaps TLG then sees the start of the Castle line in the year 1979 since there was only one set in 1978. I don't know. But imo it would make sense. hewkii9 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Awesome, I however hope that the set actually is little - what with the Medieval Marketplace and Pirates, there's no other way that I could afford it! Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 yellow castle redesigned [crosses fingers and sends a little prayer] I don't think so, KimT. If this information is right (which I personally think) then we'll get a little set as jubilee set. Of course there's a big spectrum of what you understand under a little set: That might be from 10 until 50 Euros, I'd say. When I look at the catalogue of 1979 I can - apart from the Yellow Castle - see two sets: (which is the same as 677 from 1979) I personally think that both sets could be redesigned and sold as little sets. But it isn't said that the jubilee set is a redesign or rerelease of an already existing set. E. g. when you look at this year's awesome 10184 Town Plan in the City theme you can see that it's something totally different to the original set from 19??. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) Yesterday late evening I had a brainwave: Since 1. a minifig BP would (surely not only imo) be to unspectacular as a jubilee set (plus we will get two Impulse sets which make (perhaps) a minifig BP unnecssary) and since 2. the jubilee set seems to be a little set - but surely something special and since 3. I saw the pic of the new queen and since 4. it surely will be a set similar to a classic Castle set: King's Tournament a canopied tribune with two seats (for the king and the queen), a barrier, a beer barrel and a weapons stand including two horses with colorful saddlery, a lot of weaponry, a chicken and two golden tumblers minifigs: king, queen, two soldiers and two different knights on horseback I don't know how TLG would design the second knight on horseback since he 1. must not be a king's knight and 2. must not be a fantasy creature since this minifig then would destroy the whole (feeling of the) great "classic" set. But on the other hand TLG designed three new torsos for the excellent 10193 Medieval Market Village - so it surely wouldn't be a problem to design a new torso for the knight in the jubilee set, too. I really hope for a set like this one I described. That would be awesome, don't you agree?! But of course it could be something totally different - or the information might be even wrong, too (which I don't think). What do you think? trooperdavinfelth Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Fascinating! I agree with KimT; a rerelease of that awesome Castle would be just right! *I capitalize the C in Castle because I am referring to THE Lego Castle, the first one EVER. Quote
Inertia Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 (which is the same as 677 from 1979) Ooh, that'd be a nice little set to pick up, but maybe with a mix of figures from different factions and some villagers... Much like the Impulse army builders in the 1990's. Although the yellow castle redesigned would be great, I would prefer to see it in Bley other than yellow, although, I suppose being yellow is what made it so famous. Quote

Klaus-Dieter i like the way you think. unfortunately you know as well as i do that the second "knight" is either going to be the undead knight/champion or a troll warrior. either way, it is going to be an excellent set nevertheless. i just hope that since 2009 is going to be mostly troll-centric, they will design a new evil visor for use in this set or other troll sets! something like the vladek's visor but less fantasy and more realistic. metalandi Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) While surfing around, i came across these high quality pictures of the new queen minifig, i hope this hasn't been posted yet. I love it it seems that the head again will have two different sides: Edited November 2, 2008 by metalandi Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I had certainly not seen any of these images yet, especially the double sided face and the back view of the minifig. Can't wait to see what set will it be associating to. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 That truly is a stunning minifig! The printing is so detailed and that double sided head is great as well. Like WhiteFang, I'm very curious to see which set this fig will come in. Thanks for posting the pic Metalandi! Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Nice find I've added the queen to the first post. Quote
natelite Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 i think you should credit CC's J1A3L5 instead of saying you found it while surfing. Quote
Batbrick Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Thanks for the pic. Man I love that double sided face, so badass. She's so much like: "Screw this! I ain't waiting on nobody, I'll rescue myself!" Batbrick Away! Quote
baby Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 That queen haed is sure something new, instead of showing that she is in fear it shows that she is angry. Good job TLG. The back of the torso is printed too?! NICE! Quote
metalandi Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 i think you should credit CC's J1A3L5 instead of saying you found it while surfing. Wouldn't that be exactly the same outcome? Anyway, i found this on flickr, so yes, i found it while surfing. Quote

Can't wait to see what set will it be associating to. Whitefang, since I bet that the jubilee set will be (either) a tournament (or a minifig BP (like the one which we'll get in january in the City theme)) I even bet that the queen will be included in this set. It would be a bit and if she would be included in the orcs' castle as a prisoner, don't you think?! Klaus-Dieter Edited November 3, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
brickzone Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I'm hoping for some kind of court/tournament scene. Presumably the jester will appear in the same set as the queen. Maybe as has been suggested, some kind of tournament scene will double as an anniversary set, reminiscent of the early classic castle one, in the same way Town Plan (a modern set design) echos the old town plan. We will presumably have a castle set next year with the witch - it is unlikely it would be a once-off design just for the Advent calendar. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Not to kill anyone's enthusiasm but... Isn't that different face just a clever bit of photoshopping? It's not very LEGO-like to give the queen a bad-@$$ face, is it? And the gun definitely isn't something official. So why would the rest of the pic be? * That said, with or without double-sided head, the queen's gorgeous. * Note: I could be missing a bit of official news on a double-sided head. In that case: my bad! Quote
