WhiteFang Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 So, a Golden Knight was only something that was waiting around the corner, I look forward to having an elite Knight to lead my Crownies it doesn't have to be a new figure either, as it'd only be a recolor of the Silver Knight, so I guess we might have a Troll King or another new figure instead. Also, have TLC said that the female troll is a queen? She looks more like a shaman or wizard. Also he'll make for some awesome Paladin Figures. Inertia, you have read my exact same thoughts. I feel the same way as you do. I feel that the armor design will retain the orignal charm with a change of color to represent a different battalion, more towards the Imperial or Royal Knights. Oh yes, they sure make a great Paladin. Right now, we just have to wait for more accurate info. Quote
Inertia Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I agree with you. We haven't heard what the orc female is so this is just speculation. I think it sound great to have a diferent kind of armour, so I can have knights that can turn up to be heroes, YEAH!! Totally, As if she was an Orc queen, she would probably be dressed in plundered gold or stolen clothes, so the idea of some sort of wizard comes to mind as she is alos holding a staff akin to the Evil Wizards. I can't wait for a Golden Knight as well, he'd make the perfect hero knight as you said, without being Purple, blue, green or red. Inertia, you have read my exact same thoughts. Thanks Whitefang Yeah, the Golden Knight could be like a commander of each group of Crownies or some sort of King's honor guard! I also think the Golden Knight is supposed to be the King's champion, so I'm guessing he'll turn up in the battle chariot. I feel like going and making some sort of Castle devoted to those scouring the land of skeletons. Edited December 4, 2008 by Inertia Quote

DaleDVM Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 (edited) I love everything lego has been doing with castle over the last couple of years so I will go on a little faith if they make a gold knight. All of the minifigs released lately have had great color schemes. I don't think lego will ever make the Jelly Bean mistake again. I'm with Kim T fantasy is great. It is so easy to strip the fantasy elements out of the castle sets and make them more historical if you like. But it is very hard for kids to add in fantasy elements like skeletons, orcs, dragons and the like if lego doesn't make them. The Fantasy element is what makes these sets sell and it is what is going to keep castle going for years to come. I am one who believes it is the success of the current fantasy based castle theme that finally alowed a pure civilian set to be released to us. The medieval market will be a great seller amongst fans but I doubt the average lego consumer would be as interested in it for their kids. So keep up the great work TLC. The more castle sells the more sets that will be made for the theme and that sounds good to me! Lastly I have heard from a very reliable source that 14 castle sets are coming out next year. This is just the first bunch to be released. So everyone relax the info will come out when it is supposed to. Or when it is leaked Edited December 5, 2008 by DaleDVM Quote

Is this including impulses Quote
legokuate Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Nice news!! I sound weird when TLC was only releasing 4 sets. Let see what set will get. My economy is going to sink, jajajaja . Quote
natelite Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Chainmail Bikinis?Ouch! Ever wear anything chainmail? That hurts on bare skin! chainmail bikinis with padding.... duuuuuh! Believe you me, I'm of the same opinion, but even in fantasy they don't use gold armour, the metal's too soft to make a viable armour. there's no pure 24k gold armor but there's gold _PLATED_ armor. lots of kings use gold plating because their armors weren't meant for battle. but they need to be sturdy enough just in case a stray arrow hits...so it's gold _PLATED_. the armors were probably of much tougher materials like bronze or steel. on that note, i think a golden knight is fun to collect but shouldn't be used to form an army of them. i would use one as a battle-king. not even as a king's champion or a hero or as paladins. never heard of heroes or paladins who horded gold instead of using it to feed the poor. btw, gold is very heavy. much heavier than lead. gold platemail would probably be so heavy that you can't possibly move in them. omega brick Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Lastly I have heard from a very reliable source that 14 castle sets are coming out next year. This is just the first bunch to be released. So everyone relax the info will come out when it is supposed to. Or when it is leaked Do you really believe that? There is no chance in the world that’s going to happen. There has never been such a great release of sets on one theme ever in the history of LEGO. And by the way, if they actually released 14 castle sets at the same time, then the sets would actually compete with each other. The only way we could expect 14 sets is if they were about to release a hole bunch of impulse sets, let’s say 6-8 different, and we all know that’s most unlikely. The new castle sets won’t be realised until the fall (except for 10193). So that would mean that we would have, lets see…10-13 new castle sets the second half of 2009…dream on! Nope, we won’t get 14 sets but hopefully more than four. Over and out Quote
KimT Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 My guess is that we're going to see 3 new impulse sets and 6 or 7 regular sets. No more than that. Remember that we're also getting the 10193 set next year and that makes it count for 1 castle set anno 2009. Quote
Teddy Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Dear all, I just can't believe lego hasn't shown any photos yet. Back in the days, before the internet, there used to be catalogs in december which listed all next year sets. That came in handy for planning the sets you wanted to purchase the comming year. So to make a long story short: we are just a couple of weeks away from 2009, but haven't seen a new castle set yet. (except fot the 10193 set ) Kind regards, Teddy Quote

Pencoin Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Don't belive that guy, he is lying, we won't get many sets next year, but they will be all high quality. In the next Advent Calender we will likely get are first Elve and in '10 we will get the Elve sets. Quote

natelite Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 why not? 3 normal sets + 1 S@H exclusive early 09. = 4 sets. 3 impulse sets = 3 sets 6 normal sets late 09 = 6 sets 1 advent calendar = 1 set total = 14 sets. of course not all will be available in the us! recall the good wizard impulse and calendar!! Quote
hewkii9 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Its highly likely. How so? The only statement by anyone affiliated with Lego is a designer saying there won't be elves in '09. And I will rebut the logic you might try to use with a question of my own - If I say there won't be South Park Lego in '09, does it increase the chance that it will be in '10? Quote

The last castle-themes (KK1, KK2) did only last three years,so I doubt Lego will continue the fantasy-theme after 2009, but I really hope that I´am wrong. Quote

Well the current incarnation of Castle seems to be selling fairly well, I hope that instead of a new line per se Lego changes to a new faction of knights. Quote
natelite Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 If I say there won't be South Park Lego in '09, does it increase the chance that it will be in '10? highly likely. (2 x 0% is still 0% ) i think a lot of the expectation was based on the castle realm map which depicted an elf. it's easy to conclude that elves were planned as a faction. only question is will the theme die prematurely before the elves make an appearance? whatever TLC planned for the elves, i think the theme would have much longer lifespan if they change the emblems of the crownies. there's only so many of crownies that one can take before you have too many of them. would also like to see the bullet helmet return to the theme and maybe a new great helm headgear! Pencoin Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Well we got previews of the Jester and Maid in the advent calender, why not an Elve? Quote
Scop Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Well the current incarnation of Castle seems to be selling fairly well, I hope that instead of a new line per se Lego changes to a new faction of knights. I hope that too, but I remember an interview with a lego-designer at brothers-brick.com, where he says, that today´s market is so rapidly changing, that themes can only last three-year terms in general. Maybe the well selling can change this Quote
KimT Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 2008 Castle sets according to bricklink.com 5614-1 (Inv) The Good Wizard 5615-1 (Inv) The Knight 5618-1 (Inv) Troll Warrior 7037-1 (Inv) Tower Raid 7038-1 (Inv) Troll Assault Wagon 7040-1 (Inv) Dwarves' Mine Defender 7041-1 (Inv) Troll Battle Wheel 7048-1 (Inv) Troll Warship 852271-1 (Inv) Battle Pack Knights 852272-1 (Inv) Battle Pack Skeletons And then there's the large Chess set as well. Getting 10+ sets in 2009 is possible. Getting elve elf/elves in 2010 is possible. All we know is that we wont get any in 2009. But then again we might be getting full chrome dragons in 2010 just as likely as elves. What we really need is some confirmable info. Quote
