Derek Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Thank you for this infotmation, i don't think this has been stated yet. This actuallyis great news, cause it means it will be available in less than 3 weeks Now if i only would win a bunch of money... Win? All you really need is to find a wad of cash on the street. Then you're set. I wish that would happen to me... Quote
natelite Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Now, to more speculations.2007 we had a $10 catapult for the crownies 2008 we had a $10 catapult for the dwarves 2009 we will most likely get another $10 catapult. I don´t know for which faction yet wrong. the king's battle chariot is the $10 set. just look at the piece count. Quote
hewkii9 Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 wrong. the king's battle chariot is the $10 set. just look at the piece count. And a catapult can't go on a chariot? Quote
The Kid Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 And a catapult can't go on a chariot? With TLC, anything is potential catapult material! TK Quote
DJ Force Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) We had both the Tournament set and a catapult in 2007, too. But I admit, the tournament was not a $10 but a $8 set. And in 2008, the dwarves catapult was sold for 9 instead of 10 Euros. So maybe they just swap things around, the chariot will be the $10 and the catapult a $8-$9 set?! But there definetly will be a catapult in that price region. Edited December 16, 2008 by DJ Force Quote

legomilk Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 hello friends. so if you've noticed in 2009 will lego few boxes less than what I had told a long time ago. the reason is that with lego castle theme also goes by in 2010. but this year come from at least 6 sets. that is 10193 to the group. Then it is as we feared. TLG has downsized Castle this year and they'll keep some of the 2007/2008 sets in production. Ah well, 6 sets including the 10193 is still a good harvest for one season. I am sure they'll pay us back plenty in 2010. Quote
metalandi Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Did i read right that there won't be a castle theme in 2010 anymore or did i misunderstand something? Quote
KimT Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Did i read right that there won't be a castle theme in 2010 anymore or did i misunderstand something? You misunderstood it. There will be Castle in 2010. Fewer sets than normal in 2009, but back to regular amount in 2010. Elves be in 2010 my friend. Perhaps and if so, then it's great news that they'll cut back on set quantity next year and up it again in 2010. Quote
Phaz-Ing Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 TLC.. PLEASE, don't give us any more siege machines!!! :) Siege machines are awesome if you can get your hands on a large amount of them...and a large amount of castles too. I wish i had more siege machines. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Thank you very much for that information, legomilk and KimT! I'm really surprised that there'll be only six Castle sets next year including the awesome Medieval Market Village! If there'll be really only six sets next year, then this would mean that TLG will release - apart from the four sets we know until now - only two Impulse sets. Although I'm not very enthusiastic about the momentary "Castle" theme I must say that I'm a bit disappointed since only six sets means that there'll be no more great Castle Exclusive (like the brilliant 10193). Klaus-Dieter Actually, considering that the impulses are almost non-existant in the first half of the year, I wouldn't be suprised if we only get one Castle impulse, which would leave room for a second special kit. UsernameMDM Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I am glad there are only 6 sets. If two are those are impulses, then we already know what is coming out (Chariot, Village, Troll Fort & Bridge). This way, I can spend more $ on sets I didn't get, like the second, better wave of KKII. Quote
alex12 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Only 6 sets how depressing is that? Lucky i like pirates too or LTC wont be getting much of my cash next year. Quote

Batbrick Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I'm a bit upset that there is only six sets but considering all the other awesome stuff I'll have to buy I can dig it. I haven't been keeping up with this thread enough so I hope to do that more often now, but I'll say I'm still determined to get that awesome Troll witch! Batbrick Away! Quote

The launch of Pirates could be *exactly* why they're holding back on Castle a little. TLC may not wish to oversaturate the 'historical' market, especially with a theme that hasn't been seen for a long time and bombed spectacularly when it was last introduced in 2004 (regardless of the merits of the sets). I couldn't agree more. If TLC goes just as strong with Castle as with Pirates, most consumers would choose one over the other which equals a great loss in revenue. However, if you release two different themes each with sets $100+ it justifies buying $100 here , $100 there, $40 here, and $40 there etc. It also keeps the old concept viable and not worn out. Why did I all of a sudden wanted a Pirate ship? I'm not a pirate guy (great sets though). Simply because my wallet itches and I'm tired of waiting for Castle. Star Wars on the other hand can become its own product completely based on the amount of money made on that license alone, so it does not count in this equation. You can put out $200+ sets, $300 sets, $100 sets, $150 sets all combined in one SW theme at the same time, and it will be bought guarantee w/o fear of the market's rejection. Quote

I understand why its just castle has been so awesome over the last few years and the new pirate stuff looks ok but not fantastic. An empty fort , a simple raft , a very basic island . They may be testing the market but i'm old school pirate and i'm not impressed. Castle on the other hand shines. I think i'll feel better if the troll fortress is great. Quote

Very good points, I'd say this was definitely the reason for withholding more Castle sets. Considering that this theme is still going so strong and merits its own civilian market street though? I'd say we have nothing to worry about regarding getting more sets in the future. As much as I'd prefer more Castle right now, I'd have to say a smart move for TLC, especially since in the past themes have failed because of heaps of other equally big themes. Batbrick Away! Quote
